@iyakabud on average the harpy eagle is heavier than the Philippine eagle. More weight in general cases of birds mean more muscle since they have very little fat. However they are very similar in size, and one can't possibly know which is "stronger in a fight", because they live on different continents, unless you judge by mass of muscle. Both incredible and awesome creatures nonetheless!

Stellar's Sea Eagle and Tasmanian Wedge-tailed eagle are longer and grfeater wingspan. Wedge-tailed is much lighter though. Big proportions are due to long feathers on tail and wings. Philippine eagle needs shorter wingspan for flying in the forest, like harpy eagle. it has the largest wing area though.

They thought that this eagle was already extinct in Samar and Leyte Islands for more than 30 years but recently the eagle was sighted in both Islands this only shows How resilient and smart this eagles are! they are still found in four major Islands of the Philippines in Luzon-the Sierra Madre mountain ranges, Samar- where it was first discovered, Leyte and in Mindanao- is where the concentration of the eagles population.

wow. i recently just learned about this bird not too long ago. i must say out of all the species i've studied, it is one of the closest creatures (thats not a reptile) i can relate to prehistory dinosaurs. It looks like a raptor. It's truly a wonder of evolution. The only eagle with a blue grey face/beak, and a uniquely large size. Big enough to pick up a human and prey on them.

It preyed on the giant moa.....the largest bipedal bird outside the ice age standing 7 foot n weighing....alot. Its predetor the haast's eagle only a three meter wings span for sub canopy life (non glider) but weighed 16 kg it was a real giant eagle and extremly manuverable and very strong legs it was apex predator here (only avain to acheive that) then man came
@rcadag not to my knowledge but i shall look it up. I would say that it died out fairly quickly after the moa. Especially given its second choice for prey. I would say the maori would have actively destroyed it because of the huge threat it posed.

With the haasts eagles food source dwindling it did what any predator adapted to preying on large bipedal prey would do. It hunted man...and extremly effectively. I have to disagree, the Philipeene Eagle is not more powerfull than the Stellers, the Stellers has a heavier and more powerfull bodystructure, their beaks is also of a more powerfull dimension than that of a Philipeene, or any other species of Eagle for that matter. I don't understand why all the animals from that region are so god damn big but the people are so little. Eagles, snakes, crocodiles all HUGE in that area but the people are lucky to reach 6 feet.
there seems to be conflict between some people about how much weight can an eagle stand. i have seen a bird not certainly eagle picking up a big sloth by its paws. iv seen this in youtube myself. that sloth must weight around 25- 35 kg and that bird took the sloth of the tree with just one go.

@McJohnster - I think NOT Philippine eagle is more stream lined with a long tail for quick turn control and maneuverability when flying in dense forest It's more of a GIANT Goshawk in design It's one of the fastest large eagle. Forest eagle are more agile flyers than soaring eagles.
Philippine eagle also have a rare ability to change the course of their flight very quickly despite their broad wings. No other eagle near this size has the dexterity to do this!

wow. i recently just learned about this bird not too long ago. i must say out of all the species i've studied, it is one of the closest creatures (thats not a reptile) i can relate to prehistory dinosaurs. It looks like a raptor. It's truly a wonder of evolution. The only eagle with a blue grey face/beak, and a uniquely large size. Big enough to pick up a human and prey on them.

@lalagirl211 - According to the latest estimated records there are about 300-500 pairs left living in the wild.
The concentration of the eagles population is in Mindanao region, Luzon in Sierra-Madre Mountains and a few pairs in Samar and Leyte.

It preyed on the giant moa.....the largest bipedal bird outside the ice age standing 7 foot n weighing....alot. Its predetor the haast's eagle only a three meter wings span for sub canopy life (non glider) but weighed 16 kg it was a real giant eagle and extremly manuverable and very strong legs it was apex predator here (only avain to acheive that) then man came

@rcadag not to my knowledge but i shall look it up. I would say that it died out fairly quickly after the moa. Especially given its second choice for prey. I would say the maori would have actively destroyed it because of the huge threat it posed.

@spacejamzilla2015 when the maori arrived in new zealand they quickly wiped out the giant moa as best food source. With the haasts eagles food source dwindling it did what any predator adapted to preying on large bipedal prey would do. It hunted man...and extremly effectively. As you could imagine a man killer of such ability was never going to last long. Even though in a sense i am glad it isnt here still i am sad these proud kings of aoteroa are gone forever. Do not let this happen with these!

Steller's sea-eagle is the largestmost Powerful eagle among the genus Haliaeetus meaning it's stronger than Bald eagle, white-tailed sea eagle and white bellied sea-eagle!
Forest eagles are more powerful than the soaring eagles! they have short wingspan but broader wings with rounded edge and long-tails for speed and maneuverability in dense forest and has a larger wing-load capacity than those with a longer wingspan soaring eagles like the Steller's.

I have to disagree, the Philipeene Eagle is not more powerfull than the Stellers, the Stellers has a heavier and more powerfull bodystructure, their beaks is also of a more powerfull dimension than that of a Philipeene, or any other species of Eagle for that matter. To put it short; the Stellers Sea Eagle is the biggest and most powerfull of all the Eagles, it isnt so hard to see this fact if you compare the species with eachother

It also has shorter wingspan, I never mentioned that Steller has Broader wings, I mentioned WINGSPAN, its a difference.... And, as I wrote in my first comments, the Stellers is much heavier built, and is more bulky than other Eagles, included the Philippine. I also think the Stellers beak is the most powerfull of the Eagles, but I can be wrong on this.

The stellers due to its habitation and range has a famine/feast evolutionary need to store fat over periods in cold climates. Like most creatures in this situation evolution favors the large. Respond to this video...such as monkeys thus requiring a much greater hit force and the power to withstand and hold it. Bulk does not equate muscle mass as the the pilippine eagle has more of it due to its evolutionary need for it. This is cold fact. A great example is our native haasts (now extinct) which was the most powerful eagle ever. It killed giant moa and man. It had a hit force equivilant to a cinder block droped 20 meters. But only 3 meter wingspan. Forest dweller again.

The only thing the Philipene Eagle has more of than the Stellers, is bodylength, as you mentioned, the Philipene has a longer body, but thats all. It cannot compare to the Stellers in weight or wingspan. But with its bodylength the Philipene Eagle is a very impressive bird, and its very special.

Philippines has the BIGGEST and one of the most awesome eagles in the world.
And what do their people do? They capture them and sell them. Fucking pricks.
What's more is the deforestation stuff that's going on. A pair of these Raptors require at least 50mi of land to successfully raise a healthy chick.
Heck, if it weren't for those foundations and organizations that help preserve these eagles, they would have been gone a loooong time ago.
As of now, there's only about 180 left.

there seems to be conflict between some people about how much weight can an eagle stand. i have seen a bird not certainly eagle picking up a big sloth by its paws. iv seen this in youtube myself. that sloth must weight around 25- 35 kg and that bird took the sloth of the tree with just one go.

Such an amazing creature, it's just a really sad thing that this wonderful animal is in the brink of extinction. There population is really fewer than you think much much fewer you'll ever imagined, that's why we really need to conserve and protect this mighty creature. Philippine Eagle is the world's Largest living eagle in terms of size meaning Longest, Tallest with longest tarsus or legs, Largest wing surface area among all eagle specie and a large powerful beak almost 3 times larger than Harpy's beak and a larger skull.. Steller's sea eagle is the Heaviest eagle averaging 15-20 lbs. one female was scaled at 28 lbs and with the longest wingspan among eagles however Harpy eagles are the Bulkiest eagles or with the most body mass in relation to its size.

@iyakabud I'd still rather see a stellers or a harpy. or a golden, or a white bellied or pretty much most other eagles, the phillipine just doesn't enchant me like some of the others do. nice vids all the same though.

@stillmatic117 - Thanks for the comment! You cannot please everybody... each of us has it's own preference and still many loved this eagle as you can see some of others comment. You could still watch all the other eagle species and I agree they are all beautiful creations. enjoy !

@stillmatic117 Apparently you have a lot of money and spare time to travel around the world, remain in a forest for a few weeks to catch sight of rare birds, especially harpys and the philippine eagle, then come back home to watch vids on youtube and leave a negative comment on arguably the most beautiful eagle in the whole wide world. Or -you're just full of ....

@ZionHillCalling Well actually i don't have alot of money, and i've never been outside europe. So shut the fuck up, In the wild i've only saw the white tailed sea eagle and the golden eagle. What i meant was if i got lucky enough to get the chance to see one, it would preferably see a different one, but i would take any because im awe whenever ive been luck enough to see one.

@iyakabud Sir ang ganda po ng Philippine Eagle, thanks to you and your videos younger generations like me are now aware and feel that I, we must help protect this treasure of ours, a treasure given by god to us the Filipino people and the Philippines, I'll most likely make a conscious effort to help this eagle avoid extinction, just like how I feel we should help our very own Filipino Martial Arts, even if my help with just be a small one. make more videos about our Haribon. keep 'em coming sir.

@McJohnster - I think NOT Philippine eagle is more stream lined with a long tail for quick turn control and maneuverability when flying in dense forest It's more of a GIANT Goshawk in design It's one of the fastest large eagle. Forest eagle are more agile flyers than soaring eagles.
Philippine eagle also have a rare ability to change the course of their flight very quickly despite their broad wings. No other eagle near this size has the dexterity to do this!

philippine eagle is the largest eagle in terms of length. it has a bigger skull and bill then the harpy eagle. harpies are bulker and heavier then this eagle. i too thought the harpies were the largest, but it is not.

The monkey-eating eagle, renamed Philippine eagle to honor the Philippines, is also known as Haring Ibon (Haribon) meaning King of the Birds. It really deserves to be called so, because no other birds of flight and match up with this mighty bird.
I'm really proud to become a Filipino!
