  • How old are you? "stop trying to validate your critizism of Frida by saying you admire her cause you're only fooling yourself" (??) . I am norwegian, and liked Frida even before she teamed up with the other three (first album in 1971!). I think she was the better vocalist of the two A's.Frida normally records impeccable vocals, and she does a cute job on this one, but listen to the arrangement. Then listen to 'Barcarolle' by Montserrat Caballe. Even princesses lose their shoes once.

  • i'm glad you're an ABBA fan but this is FRIDA and just because everyone can't sound like Agnetha in "The Winner Takes It All" doesn't mean they are not good. and stop trying to validate your critizism of Frida by saying you admire her cause you're only fooling yourself. Happy Youtubing. :))

  • che schifooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • ....although being an ABBA fan, this is a schmaltzy version of a beautiful piece of music. Nice voices, but a rude attack to a heavenly song. As when 'Idol' competitors are having a go at 'The Winner Takes It All'. The arrangement is syntethic and boring. Love you, Frida, but ehem, this was just a demo, and a japanese release, thank God.

  • I like it. Bravo Frida!!!

  • Purely awful. Please stay away from opera material ladies. You don't have the voices for it.

  • very recognizable beautiful voice :))

  • Who is responding to my opinion of La Barcarole? I cherish this recording because it is so beautifully performed and obviously with an understanding of how fragile love is! How can anyone/-body reject to that? Beauty is SO much missing in today´s world. Love to all

  • We all love Frida esp since she went through so much in life; heavy devastating depressions and loss of her daughter....

    ed

  • Offenbach must be spining in his grave. This is from an opera called Tales of Hoffmann, and should be sung by opera singers.

  • @devotedtoopera

that's just ridiculous. the good thing about music is that it's available for anyone to do, you can think what you want about the result, but you have no right to make yourself music police.

  • @devotedtoopera perhaps, but since jessye norman, I have not been as touched.

  • Very nice!

  • It is so sad that some people cannot enjoy this wonderful duet! If you do not like classical music , refrain from comments please!

  • @rubisistra this should be opera These two sound like wet cats.

  • @rubisistra This is not classical music. Barcarolle, which is from the opera, Tales of Hoffmann, should be sung by opera singers, not pop opera singers.

  • Princess Frida sounds beautiful. :))

  • esto no es ópera... esto es pop bonito..

  • You don't recognize her voice: she simply doesn't have a strong musical identity

  • Wonderfull! 2 beautifull voices celebrate the moment.

  • Both still give me goose bumps. LOL

  • that was bloody awful sorry but truly disappointing from a pro like Anni-Frid

  • Frida looks so pretty on the 1st pic

  • Frida is phisically, spiritually, and vocally beautiful. a very special lady. :))

  • Is it French? I imagine I hear a lot of talk about amour and....quelques choses (les temps?) sont en retour?

  • I.always.felt.frida.was.the.weakest.member.and.plain.looking.woman.of.abba.

  • Her real name is ''Anni-Frid'' but i think she change it to Frida, I MISS ABBA :(

  • @Kristoffer121 - she said she's always been called Frida by family and friends.

  • was you a bit short on pic's of filippa?

  • I made a mistake & pressed the wrong button. I LOVE this version of La Bacarolle. 2 beautiful voices.

  • MAGNIFICO !!!

    Grazie per il post: 5*****

  • What a beautiful sound. I enjoyed it as much as I did Marilyn Horne & Joan Sutherland many years ago.

  • demasaido lindo para ser verdadero gracias twodragons desde argentina

  • nut job. will likely expire from antidepressant overdose

  • Fridas voice is too good for Abba

  • WAHNSINN !!!!

Das ist Zu schön um wahr zu sein :)))

  • such a beautiful voice instantly recognizable ...stunning!

  • Brunette Anni-frid was a jazz session musician, just like Bonham and John Paul Jones were session musicians recruited for Led Zeppelin. A serious musician who mastered every facet of her profession and was probably uninterested in her looks. I thought she was pretty but I also got the impression that she couldnt care less about image, while most of the 70s media paid attention to the blond singer Agnetha.

  • omg..! hermozo..! =D

  • Any MORON who calls ABBA music and group members sugary and bubble gum should be more than put to shame by clips like this... I could understand how today's kids would be so clueless as they were not fortunate enough to be born in the age of ABBA and other truly genius music, but those idiots of the 70's, Mr. Rock & Rollers, who think corny Southern Rock such as Lynard Skynard, Cream, etc. is where their manhood was at have no reason to be as musically clueless as today's kids.

  • You know i just dont understand how anyone can be so nasty and petty about Ann-frid, GROW UP YOU SAD LITTLE WANKERS.

  • Frida is a beautiful angel with a heavenly voice and a sweet smile. <3

  • I dont understand why people cant comment on Frida without talking about aggy and viceversa like they are joined at the hip ???

  • Well, we shouldn't make Frida (Anni-Frid) older like in the one comment before. Today (Sept. 28, 2009) she is still 63 (not 65), turns 64 on November 15, 2009) ;-)) She was born 1945.

  • The fact that Annafrid (now 65 y old) can sing this aria in original language (french) proves how highly skilled both singers of ABBA were. That was not only a so called pop combo.

  • The Lady has still got it!! WOW...beautiful..;-)))

  • how nice - Frida's still a beautiful woman indeed and still gotta voice too!

  • Magnificent!

  • Listening to this makes me think how lucky Benny and Bjorn were to have vocalists of the calibre of Frida and Agnetha sing the songs they wrote. Frida's vocal flexibility is legendary but the warmth and texture of her voice is beautiful. Listen to Frida's heavenly aria on ABBAs The Day Before You Came. It contrasts strikingly and effectively with Agnethas own brilliant pathos-laden deliver of the story. That aria is Frida's own creation.

  • Oooooooh, it is so wonderful - it gives me goos bumps. So, gentle and warm and soft.!!

Frida's voice is fantastic! This duet is superb! Thanks!

  • Both Annifrid and Agnetha are two of the most beautiful ladies. They are excellent singers in their own right, but together their voices created such a magical sound that no-one else has been able to match. As for Frida's hair styles ... she has re-invented her look so many times over the years and has always appeared to be such a lady of pure 'class'. I love both ABBA ladies equally and they have brought so much happiness in this 'toubled' world we live in. Love and respect to A&A

  • She's nearly 65 you idiot!

  • Please, grow up! go in the kitchen and look at your mother! asshole!

  • Frida is still hot! not bad eh?

  • I love you Frida-you inspire me.

  • Following their style... mmmm it sounds pretty good, he he.

  • I don't understand the Frida vs Agnetha thing either. The come alive together. Their vocal harmonies were terrific!!

  • Agnetha and Frida aren´t ENEMYS.

    They are Friends.

    Together they have Dance lessons.

  • Beautiful voices..lovely duet:)

  • Frida looks great for her age...the short blonde hair suits her much better than her dark hair...I would say that Frida gets better with age...

  • Love Frida Always.. I also love Agnetha.. They are both wonderful, and magical together...

  • And because everybody are so confused about her blonde hair i will explain you-AREN'T YOU HEARD THAT THE DEARK HAIR MAKES ONE PERSON LOOK OLDER!She don't want to look like agnetha just everybody gets old sooner or later! But for me no matter is she with dark, blonde, red or even green hair-she will be the wonderful Frida and i will lovwe her with my whole heart!

  • what?she is not agnetha! She don't need to be her! Frida is the most charismatic woman i have ever seen! Even thought i love aggi too i don't think she has the better voice in NO way!And also aggi had written so little quantity of siongs!Frida is one of the greatest performers and she was the one that make the show on the scene, agnetha was the reserved one always!

  • Interesting duett! Thanks for posting it! :-)

  • and about frida's teeth a have to say that there's nothing wrong with them!ok?!!!!!!!She' s beautiful and charmant and that's the tiniest problem if it is a problem at all!and if anybody have something against her please don't write at all(like JJGREEK1 and MALIBUSES)YOU ARE MARKED AS RUBBISH in most of the cases!!!!!!!:))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

  • frida sings just beautiful, her voice is amazing and here.......wow

  • Frida ha solennità di una regina.

  • *would

  • wood

  • FRIDA IS THE BEST IN THIS SONG!! X X

  • filippa giordano its the best

  • I love Frida. Always did!

  • The journalists found the Blonde an easier target, but Frida no doubt was just as greatly admired -and had the lead vocal on more hit singles -and Fridas albums after ABBA sold better than Aggies.

  • Agnetha did not remain a star after ABBA; Frida sold more albums than her and also managed to show up on the US charts (with 'Something's Going On') - Aggie disappointed the music press in the early 80's. The ABBA singles Frida sang lead on actually were larger hits than the ones with Aggie (believe it or not). Still want to fight? :)

  • you sound hilarious

Agnetha is hiding in her nutshell

do you call this remaiding a star-living on an island and not attending any meetings

    haha

  • No, Agnetha and Anni-Frid will never be forgotten; but a lot of nonesense is being written about them. Reducing Frida as being of lesser importance than Agnetha vocally is absurd. Together they made magic, and solo both brilliant!

  • then she wouldn't be frida anymore BTW I think there is nothing wrong with her theet

  • I simply don't get this whole Frida vs. Agnetha thing. The fact is, their voices were eminently suited to each other, I honestly don't think there's been anything like it in pop music history.

I've must admit that I've never heard of Ms Giordano before, she does a good job, but I think Frida's timbre and more restrained way of phrasing is much more beautiful.

By the way, the song is from Contes d'Hoffmann by Offenbach (Frida has proved before that she's up to a more classical style of singing).

  • Wow, I was surprised that frida still can sing classically. And she´s doing great, isn´t she? She´s so talented and such a nice person. Thanks 2dragon6488!

  • glad frida gone back to being dark again lol

  • Watch it freddiefinkle or the malicious one will go for your jugular!?Angel and i have both suffered in the past.I think your comment on medication is pretty accurate 'cos you don't hear from 'it' for a while and i've found if you are nice in reply it just goes away!!

  • It was recorded with Frida in May 2002

  • Sorry, thanks!

  • FRIDA is the one with the little more "darker" voice kind of alt soprano. FRIDA can sing opera and I can cleary here it's here beacuse I heard her sing opera in swedish television.

  • Boy, I knew about this song but never had an opportunity to listen to it (or to anything from Filippa - I really do not like her soprano voice at all - and she is a professional!! Frida really outdoes her here, IMHO

  • offenbach must be turning in his grave

  • She opens the song!

XD It's really beautiful how she tries to do an operatic pop voice. All the first verse is her alone... then Filippa's voice enters. :)

  • you obviously have never had an ear for Frida. "I can't hear Frida" LOL!

  • I've always heard deafness/non-recognition of vocal ability was a symptom of insanity. :P

  • What goes around comes around Angel!?Fancy not being able to recognise the person you SO despise!LOL!

  • Who is the guy at the end of the vid?

  • Hes name is Heinz Julen, he is a friend of Frida

  • Thanks! We sadly don't hear too much of Frida in the UK these days.

  • EXCELLENT SONG!!!

I'm a huge ABBA Fan. Because of this song, I entered to the magical world of Opera. This duet es very bautiful :)

    La Barcarolle

    "Bell nuit, a nuit d'amour"

From the Opera "The tales of Hoffman"

    By Offenbach

  • wow, it's Frida singing opera! I really enjoy your videos. Rare songs, new pics, and kewl effects ;)
