i used to kill first two with lasers because the base guns help, and tow cable for the ones close together, the rest i laser or do manually like- 2:15- best part of the whole game.
You dont have to get shot down to exit the speeder. I used to play this game all the time, Id fly back to the shield generator and drag my speeder along the ground and it would crash. Then I would have a speeder without having to kill any stormies
@mitrooper lol, that is nitpicking considering this game completely changes the ending of the movie. ;)
This level was tough and I just flew around aimlessly many times trying to figure out what to do. In the end, I did everything done in this video: attacked from behind, attacked from the ground and wrapped their legs and blew their head after. I also knew about crashing on the ground instead of being shot down. The only way to figure this level out was to have seen the movies and emperiment.
That was a well made game , graphics where excellent , sound was great but above all , the scale is almost perfect , the shield generator is huge compared to the speeder .
Most excited I ever was playing the NES when I was a kid was this level of Empire. That long struggle getting through all of the Hoth caves was worth it.
The difference between this game and it's SNES counterpart is gloss vs. substance. This game was so cleverly designed in it's gameplay, while the SNES version felt like a tired re-hash of Super Star Wars. Wait till the nest stage when you can walker-jack the AT-ST's! The designers of GTA had to have been inspired by this!
The game play when in the speeder seems very similar to Attack of the Mutant Camels also for the Atari. Though being able to go on foot was a nice touch :)
Still amazing after all these years, one of the best games ever programmed for the NES, makes full use of the console and the gameplay is perfect. As the poster pointed out, this level is a homage to the Atari 2600 game and funnily enough, Factor 5 paid homage to this NES version on the Hoth level of Gamecube Rebel Strike...
lol just crash the ship at the 3 ATTs and do the rope climp cord ctu then hit the fourth then find another ship then do it again at the last ATT. the quickest way is harpoon teo, then crash and cut 4 get a ship harpoon 3 then crash and cut the last one then jump in a ship. Never have to shoot a single ATT walker,
This is the only level I enjoyed in this game. I would play it just to get here. It was actually faster to get yourself shot down and then climb up as like underneath the AT-ATs to just kill it in a quick animation. So you could use those trap wires to trip it up four times then crash your ship and kill the rest off a lot more quickly that way.
Brilliant game. That's a huge amount of graphics being shifted around (on top of parallax scrolling) for a humble NES. Very well programmed. Thank you for posting.
I used to purposely crash then manually cut the cord on every at- at on foot lol I loved how you could run over and go up in there with the rope and light saber like in the movie.
What I loved doing was getting shot down, running towards an AT-AT on foot, then jumping towards it and throwing a thermal detonator inside it. Just like in the movie.

I used to be an Imperial Walker. Then I took a harpoon to the knee.

Why isn't luke wearing his orange pilot gear???
Small mistake by the developers, the Luke sprite on foot is wearing the rebel trooper gear. 1:56

there's luke in the snowspeeder and he's not even in his pilot gear (snowspeeder pilot outfit) in an alternate star wars universe for the Nintendo.
