Elizabeth Shue was so fine, sweet and vulnerable in this movie. Val Kilmer was amazing as always. This movie was ripped by most of the critics undeservingly. The Saint is a little corny and sappy but it is also extremely entertaining. I still love this flick no matter how much of a guilty pleasure it may be.

I thought his disguises were not very good because you can always tell that it's Val. They should not have cast him as the Saint because of that. How can you hide Val's big jaw or his very distinctive looking face? You can't. Eddie Murphy on the other hand has a facial shape that can let him disguise himself as anyone... black, white, jewish, male, female, fat or thin.

The movie came out at the wrong time, I hated it much back then BUT I recently re-watched it I can honestly say it was actually very good, guess taste in movies change overtime and we get used to some films that would be considered crap from a different era. If The Saint came out this year I think for sure it wold had fared much better than it did in 1997. Take Avatar as proof of this, the highest grossing film in human history with a sloppy plot but cool effects.

@nickic272 you are right. If you watch the 1960,s British series The Saint, no doubt Roger Moore is THE SAINT. Young Roger Moore did his best role playing Simon Templar, no one and i mean no one can play this role like he did. Val Kilmer sucks compared to Roger Moore. They should have left the legend series intact,.

Watched this when it first came out on VHS. I was annoyed with my Mum because I did not want to watch, by the end of the film I wanted to be Simon Templar and I love the music to the film. I sometimes still have bouts where I pretend I am The Saint - Quite funny because I am at Uni and 23, should maybe grow up a little now but hey. Lol.

Great Movie! Val & Elizabeth's best performances in their whole acting life! I watched more than 50 times in the last 10 years and can watch more than 100 times! Never bored while watching! The first 3 times was in the movie 3 following evenings! The others on VCD or Tv. But I will buy an European version DVD cause I have just learned there is an alternative ending! This movie is the BEST !! In Europe there is an alternate ending version. In this version Tretiak and his son die and there is a huge gunfight in the Tretiak mansion involving the Russian Army and tanks. Fragments of this can be seen in the trailer thats here on YouTube. Does anyone know where to get this other version of the Saint !! Just LOVE this movie !
