  • DAMN, and he's sitting!

  • omg this was really phenomenal!!

  • you people call that an applause? XD common!

  • I'm gonna die.

  • I love Hugh. He was my first phantom I ever saw on broadway <3

  • And there's the fabulous Seth Rudetsky at the piano If you aren't already a fan of Seth's check out Seth Rudetsky Deconstructs... on Youtube

  • I dearly love Hugh. I was lucky enough to meet him about 5 years ago. Not only is his voice amazing, but he's a really sweet guy!

  • Whenever I hear Hugh Panaro sing I can't help but smile! :D

  • We love Hugh!

  • fuuuuuu!

  • I'm so EXCITED that I am going to see Hugh in Reno, NV this July 11th. for 'Art Town'. HOW KOOL !

  • He makes this song sound less creepy and stalker-ish : )

  • lol.. I've always thought that this song was!!

    I love Hugh

  • Hm. Y'know, when the first note of the song is a high G, that doesn't really give you anywhere to build to. Well done, but I'll take Garber's key any day.

  • omg, this key is higher than victor garbors by how many? it sounds like hugh put it in his comfort zone to show off his tenor voice.

  • Garber's key, which is the written score key is Eb Major. This is G so that makes his a major third higher

  • omg!! He NEEDS to play Anthony!!! Hugh is sooo good! =)Not only is he Phantom...he loves Sweeney like I do! =D

  • Actually, he DID play Anthony - at the Kennedy Center in 2002. And he does love "Sweeney Todd" a great deal.

  • His voice is so amazing. Why can't there be more voices like Hugh's in musical theatre?

I'm SO lucky to have gotten to see him in Phantom. He was truly amazing. He's such a big influence for me and I wish that one day I can sing with half of his talent.

  • he absolutely amazes me every time i hear him sing!

  • I REALLY want him to record this song!!!

  • All Antonys should do this. It's beautiful. Hugh Panaro is a genius, even at 15. This is the best thing that has ever happened to this song. And a lot of beautiful things have happened to this song. Like Davis Gaines.

  • Holy crap! When he said he transposed the key I totally thought it would be lower because I have no knowlege of hugh panaro (I know now: total sin.)and was surprised out of my mind when seth started playing higher. lovely and totally slaying.

  • The beginning seems a bit... not strained, per se, but uncomfortably stretched. That's probably because he isn't usually using that part of his range, though, and the rest of it is MIND BLOWING!

  • wow he has an unbelievable range!!! in phantom, he goes really low and omg this is so high. incredible.

  • I love Hugh so much. Saw him as the phantom, he was incredible. I love Johanna, he is incredible.

  • wow, nicely done!

  • Hugh is really handsome. Really, really handsome. That said, OMG, his Johanna is AMAZING. I was just like, 'OMG, do I actually think any Johanna is comparable to Anthony Warlow's? WAIT A SECOND, I DO! o_O'

That's really saying something, cuz you know how I love Anthony Warlow. :-P And if you don't...well, you know now.

  • Anthony Warlow did sweeney todd?

  • Ahhh I love this! He sings it way better than the blonde boy in the movie!!

  • Amen.

  • omg i love hugh!!!! i think the key is a little too high, but he's still amazing!!!!

  • who sings this in the play

  • It's sung by Anthony Hope. Hugh played that role at the Kennedy Center a year or so before this was recorded.

  • He is amazing. I love Hugh! He should put Johanna, on his solo album! This is such a beautiful song. I think its the one of the non-violent songs through the whole entire show of Sweeney Todd. Now Todd's verison of this song is very violent! *giggles* so is the Judges' but his is naster! Lovely Song.

  • how about"it only takes a moment" from Hello Dolly. He can really hit those high notes.

  • I dont like such a high key.

    Sorry to his fans.

  • No need to apologize. I don't have a problem with opinions, just with personal insults...and there's a big difference. I prefer it when he sings it in a lower key, but this was the arrangement he used when he was a kid.

  • I just dont like being a bad guy. D:

  • so what do you do when you're a tenor with no low range? cheat!

  • Actually, Hugh does indeed have a low range. He often gets classed as a "baritenor." He refers to his voice as "tenor with a baritone extension," though I've heard him also go as high as a high E flat. He merely transcribed this because he was 15 and he simply wanted to.

  • I'm convinced he's actually a countertenor/male soprano in hiding. Hence his chest money notes being purely tenor, but having a lower extension.

  • Yep, it is.

Sas4u2day, I agree. Hugh has such a great voice and range, it's gotta be pretty darn hard to find a song he can't perform well.

  • damn, that's in a really high key. is that different from the cast recording?

  • Yay! More Hugh!! I love him. He's good.

  • omg I love Hugh's voice so much! He is simply amazing ^_^ I never get tired of hearing him sing.

  • I love his voice on this song. I don't think there is a bad song out there for his voice. He's just outstanding

  • he sounds so great singing Johanna
