  • @TheStfu1000 you joined youtube less than 4 months ago. youre 19 and from your page an obvious asshole from the comments I read. 4 months ago? where have you been? under a rock? 19? Did you just save up enough to buy an internet connection or is are you sitting at the library? youre a douche bag. Im sure your parents cant wait until you move out.

  • @pele6922 wow sorry you have bad relations with your parents/family. ummm yes i only joined youtube 4 months ago on this spanish account lol. and maybe you should read my page comments again you stupid lil shit. listen your a little stupid bigot. 'just calling it like i see it' truth hurts.... fucking hell thats your little fucking opinion and you regard it as truth. you're a little child. and you're dumb in everything you've said to me up to now. haha so dumb you know nothing.

  • @pele6922 when you leave a comment randomly on a video who do you think you're talking to? lol - stupidity.

this is just my spanish account i have another account lol for a long time? - stupidity.

the comments on my channel are all nice even that religious nut who disagrees with me wasnt offensive. - stupidity.

you're a dumb little bigot who can't accept opinions that are opposite to yours. that what makes you a bigot learn the word. then come back and say something stupid. actualy dont.

  • @TheStfu1000 who the fuck asked for your opinion? Im not the one who randomly responds to someone by calling them a cunt. Real classy move on a religious channel. You probably go to church too which is another reason youre a douche. spanish account? Whatever. Im not going to feed the troll anymore. Go start a flame war somewhere else; I guess if youre not getting laid that counts as entertainment. FU.

  • @pele6922 ahahha how many fucking bad false assumptions are you going to make you lil fool. lol. when you write down your shitty thoughts on yotuube what are you thinking? if i see stupid close minded comments about people who've disliked videos i might comment like that especially when i see they've added on 'im just calling the truth'. just think right. please. people are entitled to their opinion. i pity you how you feel bad whenever you see dislikes when you liek the video lol... jus stupid.

  • @pele6922 yeah if i was in florida i'd put you out of your misery. you CLEARLY have issues... personal issues. probably economic ones as well. instead of making 100 bad assumptions about someone you know nothing about. realise that you are a narrow minded fool and that you have issues and you need to sort them out. go speak to your family first, speak your mind rather than youtube.

  • Este tipo de música inspira pasar un momento de relajación, meditación y de desconexión con la rutina diaria!!!

  • This is certainly the most beautiful thing I have heard today!

  • Thankz!!!! Helpful so much 2 my musical studies!!! What a beautiful chant ;-)

  • Yeah this is homophonic, only one voice with the melody

  • @iatoday actually its polyphonic, their are 2 or more independent melodic lines

  • Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this homophonic? I only hear 1 melodic voice, the others are all accompaniment.

  • @spingadus nop, it's not: it's a cantus firmus (the melody) with an organum (the accompaniment). Homophony goes in another sence of making music

  • The upper voice singer is really a master. So soft, so smooth.

  • La ringrazio molto per questo film, io amo organum e ancora una volta la vedo io

  • This is very interesting music. Leonin was know for his simple organum style of music while Perotin was known for his complex organum style of music. These are both considered polyphonic music were simple organum usually consists of two voices while complex organum usually consists of more than two voices; more commonly four voices. Simple organum and complex organum sound different in comparison. Also, the word ''organum'' literately means to organize.

  • organum

  • Music is music regardless of language, culture and religion.

  • any care to help with my hw?

    whats the

    rhythm

    melody

    harmony/texture

    timbre/instrumentation

  • @dmitriyser

    non-pulse

    conjunct

modal/polyphony, and no sense of harmonic progression

in this period, all sacred music are for voice

  • lyrics :

"a--------- aaaaaaaleeeeeeluu, uuuuuuuuuu, uuuuuuuuuu, uuuuuuuuuuuuu uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, uuuuuuuuuuu, uuuuuuuuuia-a---."

  • @shaind after so many uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu, you forget what was the word he was singing --'

  • well thank god ( no such thing) there was great music before the baroque. Why didn't i get this stuff 20 years ago in school.Mozart,Hadyn -yawn -sometimes .so this is my new thing along with Ustvolskaya ,Boulez et.al. and contemporary musics

  • @lovesGenet

    So certain? What _is_ God?

    'Without gods, man is nothing.'

  • how can there be 2 dislikes? im an atheist and love this stuff!

  • Lovely !

  • Lol it starts of sounding like "In the Jungle" xD But very nice!

  • I love Leonin, i have been listening to Leonin's music for about 3 to 4 months by now and i have been tring to find his music on cd for a long time. Does anyone know were I can get one?

  • very nice

  • Leonin rocks!!!!

  • thank you for posting this video

  • are the two "background" voices taking breaths without breaking that wonderful suspended note? (I can't seem to point any points out)

  • Usually the way it works is you have two or more singers holding the bottom tenor note and they breathe at different times so as to keep the note suspended. It creates a beautiful effect.

  • What text is being set?

  • I love the unity of the top 2 voices.

  • is this ars antiqua ?

  • yes, it is

  • no, this is considered ars nova.

  • Why is this considered ars nova?

Wikipedia's article on ars nova states it started roughly around 1310, this almost certainly was composed closer to 1200 than 1300, thus having been composed at a point in time solidly within the ars antiqua, no?

  • This is florid organum of the Ars Antiqua. While Guillaume de Machaut (1300-1377) epitomizes the Ars Nova, Leonin and Perotin (fl. c. 1150-1230) represent well the Notre Dame School of the Ars Antiqua.

  • this is antiqua

  • no it is notre dame school, which is before ars antiqua

  • isn't Ars antiqua anything before Ars nova. meaning that if something is before "ars nova" it is ars antiqua.

  • notre dame school is ars antiqua (iìm actually studying it)

  • @nunogabriel1 no its not lol, had music history lessons yesterday. We first have Leonin and Perotin around 1200, the Notre Damme period aka Ars ANTIQUE. Then, (1320) we get the Ars Nova in France (well known composer: Machaut), and the Trecento in Italy (well known composer: Landini).

  • Wrong, it refers to the pitch of the voice that it was written for. Low singers were the tenors, then the duplim then the triplum going up in pitch.

  • no, vh8504 is correct, duplum stands for that theres a second voice above the Tenor, its called Duplum and yes this works also for the organum, the discant and the organal are just the two styles, one more melismatic and the other one more neumatic.

  • No bro. And i dont think you know what melismatic and neumatic really mean. Yes the top voice is melismatic, but all the voices here are "neumatic" rather than "syllabic" if this was written at the Notre Dame school in France. and yes, those are the two styles of Organum that were around his time...although idk if your talking to me about that.

  • yea i know, i said the melismatic thing because of the top voice, its quite easy to understand the difference between melismatic, neumatic, and syllabic hehe, even if ur not a musician. But basically my comment was that vh8504 was right about saying that "Organum duplum" refers to it as "2 voices" including the Tenor and one obove it.

  • "Organum duplum" here refers to the fact that there are two voices as opposed to three or four.

  • "Organum duplum"??? That doesn't make sense. There are two types of organa: organal style or discant style.

    This is an organal organum.

"Duplum" and "Triplum" only refers to polytextual motets.

  • I thought the same thing.

In the fourteenth century, the voice parts above the tenor were usually nameed motetus and triplum.

  • yeah, you would be right.

  • motets evolved from the organum later, they often had even more than one text over the original Tenor.

Triplum stands for 3 voices in the organa

    duplum 2

    triplum 3

    quadratum(correct me if misspelled) 4

  • come on, bro

  • Leonin is the oldest known composer. I don't know who is preforming here :( sorry

  • No, Hildegaard de Bingen is. The first composer known by name.

  • my mistake

  • No problem. Isn't it interesting the first known composer by name is female? I wonder what happened...

  • Hidegard was one of the all-time geniuses: right up there with Da Vinci in the opinion of many. She took on the Pope and won, headed a major religious order in a time when women were chattel, composed awesome music, did some great mystical writings.....she was the original Renaissance Woman!!

  • get off her nuts, yeah? can we please have a towel for the tired pole-jocker here? thanks.

  • Right up there with da Vinci!? Skip the PC and please stop exaggerating.
