You're correct. He was a World War II veteran and that is the flag that was used at his burial service in 1986. The airplane above it was one of the ones he flew. Thanks for asking!
I cannot tell what airplane that is that your dad flew.
My dad was also a WW-II vet. He is still alive. My dad flew the B-24 heavy bomber over the English channel, dropping only propaganda at the end of the war.
Man . .you've got some really great stuff! What a sweet and lovely broadcast. It was as if I'd come round for tea . .and I was rifling through your personal possessions, while you were fixing a snack. Doh! . . wait, . . did I say that out-loud? Hmmm . . I guess that's blown it, then. Tee-hee. :0)
It was Disneyworld's 15th anniversary. They invited 400 radio stations from around the country to do their morning shows from the park. We were having a great breakfast the Saturday after the Friday show and our table got so rowdy, Donald Duck was ushering me out of the room. (as a joke, of course.) They were fantastic hosts! You're very lucky.
Holy Monkey! FIFTEEN YEARS? That's the year I began working there! I was there working in the Emporium on Main Street! I have that darned 15 year parade on videotape. COOL that you experienced it as well. Magical times those were.
Wow! I remember they closed the park just for us press folks. We had our own parade. Ed French was our Disney guide. You were in the Emporium? Wow. We were broadcasting just to the left of the castle next to WGN. It was October 5, 1986. What a time!
A defining moment in my adult life was, despite being a staunch vegetarian, having the Oscar Meyer Weiner Mobile pull up in front of work one day and giving me a weiner whistle. I'll treasure until the day I die. :Þ
I was on the school play yard when this huge Weiner Mobile pulls up and this guy named Little Oscar gets out and hands those things to every kid on the school playground. This would have been the early 60's? (when you could do that)
I think my dad has a Hank Aaron signed something, not sure though. I'm not allowed near his signed baseball memorabilia. Well, I'm not allowed near the unsigned stuff, either. I'm too clumsy.
i'm so jealous - your home is like an amazing curiosity shop full of random cool bits :) you never fail to make me smile

A Hole in One? I'm impressed. That bull testicle was impressive, too, even if it wasn't real. Hey, how do I know the hole in one was real?????
