  • If I was doing this for the inside of a plexiglass instrument with curved corners, would the heat gun melt the plexiglass? Also, is this the best method for plexiglass?

  • @ROBOCOP603 i wouldnt tint plexiglass. any blade on it will scratch it for sure. aslo plexiglass expands and contracts as it warms up and cools down and the tint will not take well to this and may warp if its a really curved piece. if your not too aggressive with the heat gun it won't melt tho.

  • @TintStuff I know about the knife problem, I'm working that out. Is there any tinting method that will at least keep the tint on the plexiglass? The tint is a type of mirror tint, btw. Also does the side of the tint that has the liner on it absolutely have to be the side that's facing outward? I'd prefer it not to be.

  • @ROBOCOP603 yea you can still dryer sheet the plexi like i did in the video or even wet shrink it depending on how curved the plexi is. and yes the liner needs to be facing out because it protects the tint from getting little scratches as you shrink it.

  • @TintStuff

Do you have a tutorial on how to wet shrink the tint? If not do you know where I could find one? And what I meant be my last question in the previous comment was when I'm all done shrinking the tint does the side of the tint that was the adhesive side absolutely have to be facing the plexiglass, or is there a way to make it stuck to it otherwise? I was thinking maybe the kind of solution used to molecularly bind plexiglass could be used to bind plexiglass to the tint.

  • @ROBOCOP603 search youtube for a wet shrinking tutorial its not much different from dry shrinking except it takes a lot longer. why would you want to stick it down with something else? they have the tint adhesive on there to make it stick..

  • this song is from Achievement Hunter

  • Awesome!!

  • very helpfull video ive tinted lots of windows and i didnt know you could do that

  • dude, do you have any experience with precut window tint??? i wanna tint my car, i've done it before but never tried the precut stuff before.. its cheap, so i wanted to try it before going for 2 different shades rolls..

  • @sammyrivas03 yes i do. pre cut window tint is alright but it depends on the software they use. some match up very well and some dont. just remember you still have to shrink it!

  • @TintStuff yeah thats what i thought, i bought a decent one from a good buyer on ebay, nd it had 99% good feedback so im hoping it comes real good.. nd yeah i was thinking if it needed to be shrunk or not..

  • what size film did you use for the rear window of this impala 24in or 36in? thanks

  • @DjRickyDL 36" on this one. 24" are only for the small back window like an avenger or 300.

  • @TintStuff Hi i have 2 questions. 1. Why do you shrink the tint? I have searched at google but i couldt not find a answer so maybe you can tell me and 2. What is that thing you use to squeeze the tint at 4:42 its not at your tint tools video. Greetings from Germany

  • @ZeroGravetyTV you need to shrink the tint to fit the curve of the glass. tint will not stretch so if you dont shrink it you will put big creases in the film because it will fold over itself.

the tool i use there is called the black and white. i got it from 44tools.com you can also use a "bulldozer"

  • @TintStuff nice thanks for the answer m8 ok ill keep trying to shrink the tint ^^ you should do a slow video called how to shrink xD Peace yoo

  • thanks for the video and the explanation of how to shrink the back window. I'm going to give it a shot tomorrow.

  • why do you heat shrink it on the outside.

  • I tinted my rear a week ago, looked mint. Now from the inside I can see where I heat shrunk the fingers. Any ideas on what went wrong?

  • LOL if only it went that nicely

  • Lol funniest comments ever!!!!

  • Hey, thanks:) I have Tint many windows and rear windows are crap:/ Now I'll try what you did there on my car:) this is probably a bit more easily;)

  • i tried it on my 2004 pontiac grand prix and it looks great it saved me alot of money ty dude

  • man i really want this done on my car, but there is no way i can do it myself.

  • hey man you use baby shampoo ?? right in that spray bottle?

  • Real Pro's tint the inside of the car, not outside..

  • @Demonichellfighter says the dummy who only watched part of the video...

  • @TintStuff wtf are u talking about? thats a compliment...

  • @Demonichellfighter whoa sorry bout that! i thought it was a comment directed at me about installing tint on the outside of the window cuz I've had a few of those comment from people not watching the whole video and lots of customers that like to watch me tint and before you have a chance to install the film they say "i thought it went on the inside..." thanks for watching the whole video :)

  • @Demonichellfighter loooooooool again!!!!!!

  • @Bmwdonny ?

  • @Demonichellfighter Your awesome comment!!!!! The dude thought you were beeing rude!!!! Fucking lols

  • @Demonichellfighter maybe you were stupid and didnt watch whole video, then you managed to manipulate the dude into thinking it was a compliment

  • @Bmwdonny i watched the whole vid you fucking troll PoS, go waste more of you're life on commenting on other comments on youtube you fucken trick. Get a life dipshit troll.

  • @Demonichellfighter Loooool so fucking funny, your naming me the same as a stupid dude earlier but he was norwegian, how tha fuck you know what a troll is?

  • @Demonichellfighter come on now, write some more, its so funny on youtube :)

  • @TintStuff ctfu

  • @Demonichellfighter smh lmao

  • @Demonichellfighter smh lmao

  • Car window tinting is an art. I helped a friend do this once. After that, I gladly pay to have it done by a professional. My buddy's had bubbles, edges were chewed up, folds, just a train wreck. And it took us 2 hours. Didn't even attempt the back windows. We didn't have a heatgun. Or the patience. lol

  • what did you use to get the bottom part of the tint when you place it inside? what kind of squeegee is that?

  • 2 things

Where did you get the tiny and what kind?

And does heating from the outside like you did to it prevent bubbles when you put it on the inside, because I did it the same way but without a heat gun and it looked like shit and assloads of bubbles.

  • Hello :) im beginner professional in tint, recently I'm working in car dealer,at dusty hall. My problem is that: ON FILM STICKS DUST AND LATER CREATE SMALL BUBBLES WITH AIR.

What should i do to prevent this ? I cant change my working place so i must deal with dust. Please help me

  • @ALKOMONOGAMIA sorry man if its a dusty shop you have to change either your job location to a separate area in the dealership or go work some place else. i use to deal with this problem all the time. mechanics needed to use air tools to do a job but is soon as they did my tint would turn into a nightmare. mechanics and managers dont care and dont understand why a clean environment for tint is so emportant and if you want a clean job you either need to make them understand or go elsewhere.

  • @TintStuff thanks, but maybey it's not only this dusty area fault... one man before me (unfortunately i cant contact with him)did tint there and it was all ok so maybe i doing something wrong but i have no idea what

  • @ALKOMONOGAMIA did you actually see his work or just hear from people? dusty environments play a big roll in the final outcome of tinted windows.

make sure the water is clean

    razor EVERY door window

clean out the seals before an install

make sure the squeegee doesn't leave streaks

make sure tint doesn't drag on door panels

  • i was watching you press it to the back window and the whole time i'm thinking, why the fuck is it being installed on the outside, its suppose to go on the inside (i watched my dads car and gf's get tinted) then i saw you pull it off and i was like *facepalm* this is why people get paid for this.

  • you make it look easy

  • ...yea I'll just pay for the service lol

  • I put this on my sons truck came out great but I can't stand this stuff, I did my opera windows on my Grand Marquis and that's where I stopped LOL I'll bring it to you for the rest. LOL you did a great job!

  • Good vidio Tintstuff..I see some tint the outside of the rear window, wouldn't that eliminate the Dotx, I saw your video on the Dotx solution but my rear window has quite a slope to it with a rear dash panel and high headrests.

  • nice work dude .

  • There is a restriction on how much light that can get through in England what is it if Abby one knows

    Please excuse the spelling

  • would it be easier if you opened the boot door and did it from the outside?

  • Yo man thanks alot. I started using your method with the hard card and now my shrinking is 100 times faster. I shrank a 95 saturn back window today with this method and i was pretty freking impressed. Shout out to you man you are a great tinter!!!

  • Nice job son

  • how do you not make it crease ? am i too close with the heat gun ?

  • @johnsnip187 lots of practice!! ive been doing this for over 3 years. it depends on the film really some films shrink really quick and can burn into a crease and other shrink slower and you may press it down before its shrunk which will also cause a crease. the easiest way for me to tell you is upload a video.

  • @TintStuff .. basically , when i shrink..the amount of film that is in the fingers is too much for it to shrink without making it crease. or if i card the finger out, it just creates another finger somewhere else in the tint ... that becomes never ending. what gives?

  • @TintStuff lmao i did my first ever back window a few years ago and completly destroyed it! it had fingered all the way around on my 96 monte carlo it looked like ther back glass was shattered! lol, im going to try again on my new car for the 2nd time, i messed up the first time because i didnt hear shrink the back glass and i was rushing it and was distracted by a group of people talking to me the same time i was trying to work lol. i did all the other windows fine though just that back window!

  • Which tools did you use inside to remove all the bubbles.

  • SO WHERE DO YOU PURCHASE THE KNIFE AND BLADES??

  • What you use as a product for the back window ?

I am currently poses an Audi A4

  • Finally, Tinting in HD :) thanks.

  • I was wondering, why not remove the headrests?

Also I just called a tinting firm in denmark, and they said their "Equipment" couldnt do Sedan models, either their worker is too fat, or just too god damn lazy :P

Tho it seems alot harder in the backwindow of a sedan.

  • does the heat gun technique work on other tint film or is it just the brand you use

  • Yo man very good video. I have been tinting for 5 years and i have always used a glove with baby powder h pattern. Im going to give the dryer sheet and hard card a try after watching you do that. Thanks for the vid man and keep it up!!

  • what would happen if i turned the rear defrost on? would the tint bubble?

  • @Harrypotter2schmi336 nope it will help dry the back glass a lil quicker. doesn't hurt the film in any way. most back windows are all bubbled up from old film.

  • @TintStuff oh sweet thanks!!

  • Good video, it looks so simple yet if you have somebody do it for you they wanna charge 200 bucks when they aren't really doing anything major

  • I've used some tint to do my side windows, i got it from my local automotive wholesaler. Does this 'Shrink' or do i have to buy a particular tint that shrinks?

  • why do you have to shrink it before putting it on ? Isnt it easier just to cut it and put it on right away ? or do you have to shrink it ? ( for all windows ) ?

  • can i cut the excess film after heat shrinking instead of cutting to matrix and then doing the heat shrinking...

i tend to burn the edges sometimes... -_-

  • Do you have to dry shrink tint? Or do you just recommend it?

  • Best part with window tinting is when its comes off when you are driving , happend to me on my way to work this summer and i can tell you , the car tookd alot of beating when i saw it.. i whas doing the back window for like 2½ hours.. Man i suck haha

  • dude you make it seem sooo easy! haha im still trying to perfect shrinking the tint

  • Nice, when can you do my car ^^

  • @TintStuff What film do you use?

  • Great instructor and you make it very simple. I learn most everything in your videos. Thanks for your help

  • this is going to sound really stupid but if you dont have the heat gun can you just use a hair dryer or would that not work

  • @GAS1594 it has to be a heat gun. hair dryers aren't quite hot enough. you can get the cheapest heat gun you can find though. the one I'm using right now was only 8 dollars from harbor freight and its the best one I've used so far.

  • @TintStuff Don't heat guns strip paint? So would you have to be extra careful?

  • i wanna tint my 00 mustang but i cant find a tint over 2 feet wide...any body can help? thanks :)

  • NICEE!!!

  • great video....

Do you ever use the TAIL FIN tool for back window installation?

I noticed that you only utilized BLUE MAX squeegee.

Would you recommend me to get an Tail Fin tool?

or what are your thoughts about that tool?

  • @gavilan86 i havent ever actualy seen them but have you ever heard off the bull dozer? check it out on 44tools.com its very good for pressing out water along the bottom edge. what Tail fin are you talking about? i found a few on 44 tools

  • @TintStuff

the yellow and green tail fins on the same site 44tools.com

  • @gavilan86 k i just saw them I'm really not sure how those would help over a blue max and an unger handle. the new fusion handle helps a little more with back windows

  • good job man. you make it look easy. i tried my friends 02 mustang and could not do it. so frustrating lol

  • At the shop in Dearborn.

  • How much did it cost for that impala? I'm thinking about doing the same for my '11 WRX 5 Door.

  • Hi awesome vids, best on youtube. I was just wondering how you deal with the dot matrix on certain cars? Or is just something you have to live with?

    Thanks

  • @Johnnybhoy1984 there are a couple things to help out with it. at the top of the back window the matrix is usually the worst so keep the tint right below it and install a vinyl strip called dotrix on the inside of the window to completely black out the top of the matrix. the sides/bottom can be pressed out a little better after a few days once the tint has dried out.

  • Excellent job, hope mine turns out that nice. Thanks for the vid.

  • I have been studying this vid and your technique and I finally got a good shrink on the top half of my car, got it to lay down perfectly flat all around.

I'm doing it in two pieces and now the bottom is giving me problems. I think it's creasing because I'm hitting the tint that isn't hot yet. Maybe going a lil to fast.

This video helped a TON though. I'm still working at it.

  • how much is llumar tint. i know the good stuff isnt cheap. its like $200 a roll right?

  • @jamarr910 more like 350 for a 60" Roll cut 36" and 24"

  • @TintStuff and this film takes many years or not really??? mine film have 2 years and are not llumar film and now we start to see bubbles

  • @fatalityevolution yea this film has a life time warranty so it will last a long time. there are a lot of other good films out there as well. just watch out for the really cheap film at auto zone.

  • great job...is there any trick to tint a honda odyssey 97? I get really big fingers N could not shrink them out...I spent all day N could not get the sides done, since they are kind of curvy...I used global ...QUICK DRY...I don't know if the film is a problem....

  • @gavilan86 it may not look like a hard back window but the way it suddenly curves on the sides makes it very difficult. there will be a lot to shrink in each one of the corners. if your not trying to tint professionally id just take it to a shop other than that just keep practicing. make sure your not shrinking any fingers out on the sides. every thing needs to be shrunk vertically.

  • very clean, nice job

  • great !!!!!!!

  • what temp. do you heat shrink?

  • if you dont mind me asking...what kind of film are you using in the video...my boss has this cheap stuff that he uses that is really, really hard to shrink! or is there a certain heat gun you have to use?

  • @DuviBaby i just use a 20$ wagner heat gun from home depot and i use llumar window film.

  • that back window looks like it was a bitch to tent

  • so the tint will stick to the inside automatically?

  • The music is really annoying

  • good video, I'm gonna see if it works for me...!!!

  • How do you clean the inside of the rear window without using a blade?

  • @rbnutz1 if there isnt any obvious glue patches or tape just spray off the inside with glass cleaner and wipe it with your hand or take 00 steel wool and glass cleaner to clean the inside. it will not hurt the glass in any way.

  • @TintStuff r u retarted? steel wool..

  • @pbplayer257 00 or finer steel wool will not scratch.. your welcome to go try then compare it to a scotch brite pad. look it up on tintdude.com

  • Do you use this tehnic on any type of BG? Excample old renault clio?

  • @CeLeRitAs3 yea its way quicker to shrink a back window this way. it can be difficult to learn though. rear hatch back windows tend to be quite curved.

  • do you know where can i buy those window tinting???

  • where can i buy those stuff? how much does it cost you to tint your own windows?

  • good job..! where did you get that golden squeegee? the one that i have is totally diferent i need something like that to work with..! thanks

  • @tigredcoraza in a secret cave deep in the amazon rain forrest :) or 44tools.com its called a gold teflon hard card

  • @TintStuff thank you so much..! i really appreciate it...! and once again good job! =]

  • damn dude, how long did it take you to do it like that ? xD

i allready wasted 3 rolls of tint, and the shrinking just wont work for me xD

can you do a ford fiesta 2011 ? xD

  • @Rockstarz1990 The problem is you own a fiesta.

  • @Rockstarz1990 i can i just don't get them very often.

  • @TintStuff how do you do the back window ?

you have any tips for me? xD

now i only have the 2 side windows en without the back window it looks like sh*t xD

  • @Rockstarz1990 lots of practice. use the principals in this video and apply them to your back window. keep in mind that if your not looking to tint lots of cars its just cheaper and quicker to take it to a shop and get it done professionally.

  • @TintStuff yeah, but i live in belgium and if you to the shop here, then it cost €70 for one side window and +/- €130 for the back window, so i will keep trying until i get it right xD

    thanks for your reaction

  • With this video I just saved about 200 much needed bucks. Great vid on how to do this!

  • dryer sheets work great but can you tint a older bug vw back window... if so make a vid

  • can i use the hair dryer instead of that heat gun ?

  • @85asad hair dryer don't work cause i tried it my self yesterday and i failed it did not produce enough heat to shrink down the film.:(

  • wow bro all i got to say its a great video good job!!!!!!!

  • How many degrees must have a gun to heat the film?

  • how hot do you have your heat gun set?

  • @creatureboards1 i just have a cheap wagner heat gun because they work really well. i always set it to high.

  • @TintStuff ok man thanks, i have the porter cable one

  • You are so talented, and you make it look so easy, though it’s not for me anyway hope you own the business if not just quit and start your own

  • hey what hardcard or what tools are good for heat shrinking? because so far i have not had to much luck with heat shrinking, i would use a credit card wrapped in a paper towel lol, i know there are alot of hardcards out there, whats the difference about the colors on them? is a blue 3m accetable for this cause thats what im about to buy? or what do you recomend

  • You Are Awesome Man

  • DAMN!! Nice Video Brah

  • what did you put to the windows that's going to make it easier to shrink before you put the film? baking powder? or soap? and how do you make the thing you put completely dry before you put the tint on?

  • @yemenhar watch the video from 0:35

  • Comment removed

  • How long does it take to tint a car generally ?

  • @bloodsweattones an easier car like this i can get done in about an hour to an hour and a half.

  • @TintStuff Thanks for reply. I'm thinking about doing this to make some extra money here in Sweden. But there is a lot of different tint materials out there, 3M etc. Kan you recommend any?

  • @bloodsweattones I'm using LLumar right now and its a pretty nice film. its kinda hard for me to recommend a film that is cost effective out your way though because i don't know what is in sweden. go to tintdude.com and check out the forum section. they have tinters from all over the world that can help recommend something in your area!

  • @TintStuff Big thanks!

  • awesome video dude

    but one question

    is the heatschriking necesery?

cant you just cut the film and then put it on the window and then go to work on it with your squigy?

  • What brand of tint do you suggest? I don't want to overpay and mess up and STILL have to go get in professionally done...

  • Looks like 1 person had the tint touch the headrest :/

  • @arnipu20 lol if the tint touched the headrest it wasnt the sticky part so it turned out well :) If you havent ever tinted before and dont want to learn how to do it professionally you better off paying someone to do it.

  • Mmm. marry me please?

  • @apakotur Maybe if you subscribe :)

  • 4:39 wihch tool you are using cause i need soemthing like that... sometimes the bulldozer it is not enough.

  • @nismofunes its called the black and white. i should have mentioned that in the video. you can find it at 44tools.com its just a foot long flat squeegee.

  • Can the same principals be applied when tinting a windshield?

  • @RJacobs8907 yes they can. watch my competition video part 2 i tint a windshield in it. just be careful of how much heat you use on the windshield because it can crack. its laminated instead of tempered.

  • @TintStuff Hey thanks man!! I watched and you just do awesome work all around! If you were local i'd let you tint up my truck lol but with videos like this I should be able to do it in the driveway.. Thanks again man and keep up the awesome work!

  • @RJacobs8907 yea too bad ur not closer. good luck! just be careful about wind if you tint it outside.

  • and whats in the bottle? water and soap and what kind of soap do you use than? thanks

  • @poctob3 johnson & johnson baby shampoo

  • @TintStuff and how much do you use? whats the mixure? thanks

  • @TintStuff whats the mixture? thanks

  • @poctob3 just let it drizzle out of the bottle for about 3 seconds. you only need a little bit. if its too slick just use less baby shampoo.

  • Where is a good place to get the tint that will last long and will stay black not turning into blue or yellow?

  • your videos are sick man!

  • Great Guide ! But i Wonder ,The Card you are using here to remove the "fingers" is it a plastic card or rubber? I have a 3m Blue rubber card, can I use that while I am heat- shrinking the window?

  • @Synthbin its a Gold Teflon card that i got from 44tools.com rubber and soft plastic cards will probably start to melt as you shrink the film.
