@WaterJay Kinda hard to call this "imbalanced" when Seth's moves aren't over-the-top amazing. Seth's good, but he's not THAT good. Well, I could say the same thing about Dan XD Point is, Seth's not cheap and Poonkgo had to earn his way to the EVO finals. Latif's still amazing as usual though.
Very impressive play from Latif the guy worked hard for this, of course Poongko is great but Latif totally deserved this. Playing like this under that pressure, congrats to him
I was salty abt this i wanted poongko to win evo... But latif got him fair n square... Poongko threw out too many random dp's. Number 3 at evo is impressive tho
I love Poongko too, but Latif took out not just Poongko, but Daigo, Wong, and Tokido. That's not "luck".
I think Latif's mixup ability and quick wits were his strength and it managed to inch out of Poongko's incredible offense little by little, although it just couldn't break Fuudo's superb defense and balance I'm really happy with the variety of all three of the top finalists this year.
@edonakadon lol @ you guys not acknowledging Latif's skills, Latif is the man that took out Daigo, Tokido and Poongko himself. Latif didn't get lucky, Poongko just got outplayed (as you can clearly tell in the video)
@Dragonslayer9 He didn't take them out himself. It was someone else then Latif. It's not like Latif put them all in losers bracket and faced them all again in losers bracket. Latif is pretty godlike.
that's far fetched to say poongko is number 1, he placed third in this years evo and before he was only known in korea, whereases daigo has been consistenly the best player in sf for many years. I highly doubt anyone has a more impressive resume than daigo's.
@BobbyHung That said, Poongko may not be number 1, but the way he beat Daigo was pretty ridiculous. I wont argue Poongko isnt number 1, but I cant say Daigo is either. He came in 4th, and while you may mention his performance at past Evo's, were Poongko or Latif or Fuudo at past Evo's? How much raw talent is out there we simply havent seen yet? Yes, Daigo is an excellent player, but until he faces everyone in the world, he cant be considered the best.
A lot of fighting games at a very high/competitive level comes down to mental composure and making proper reads. Anybody can press a few buttons and string combos but playing at this level requires a great deal of composure and adjusting on the fly. There aren't a lot of individuals who can perform under such condition with so many eyes on you and a lot is at stake compared to an endless battle room online.
you live by the uppercut you die by the uppercut
