  • ''5. Not getting enough rest, sex and the right nutrition''. - I wouldn't say that having sex makes you successful at all, in fact, according to Napoleon Hill, it's not having sex that brings you to another level. If you use transmutation. Though I agree that not having enough rest and right nutrition makes you unsucessful.

  • Ei guys I was a newbie in making money online then I found this website very useful. • Pretty nice speech with some memorable comments.

  • thank you...

  • It's very important to step aside and let go. As an entrepreneur one is cautious about letting go of equity and at those times idea dies a tragic death. You have to make people feel have ownership in venture that's magic of making money however it is a difficult thing to do.

  • hahahahahahhahahahahha the VUVUZELA BUTTON IS AWESOME!

  • he stutters... Donald can trump his ass.

  • Entrepreneurs make many mistakes in the first Five years of their business, the first and biggest mistake is hiring the wrong employees. (Rafael Rodriguez II, CEO)

  • The basic steps to building a successful company are set out in hundreds of books on Business Planning. I tell folks - you don't have to read my books - but you do have to read and you do have to set out a plan. Any library has these books and they are free . Dreamers don't own a library card.

  • I love this, because he teaches through learning from the mistakes of others. I wrote a 13 chapter business book on the 53 most common mistakes entrepreneurs make when starting their businesses so I am completely on the same page as him.

  • what's his name?

  • @utube4butch: Jerry Kaplan, CEO of Winster Inc. Former CEO of Egghead Software.

  • okay, im having a bit of trouble here, can anyone tell me what its called when a person own many businesses? like, lets say i buy a , for example, subway from someone, and then later buy a walmart, and then i buy a best buy, and so on, what is that called? entrepreneur?

  • a serial entrepreneur

  • "equity is like shit" LMFAO great quote

  • Really enjoyed this. If listen he really is not down grading children. The opposite. Its just the style to keep everyone listening to what he is saying and not be boring like some speakers.

  • skdjhfksdfksdhfkasdf;

  • #1 I knew I wanted to earn money using internet but did not know where or how. Over time I figured out what my goal should be. #2 I do it for myself I'm now succeeding and don't care if someone thinks I'm smart enough or not. #3 Greed. I earn a little bit more each month and it's partially because people work with me and help me as I help them. #4 I realized over time friends are are for social not business. #5 I invented a new product, paid a company to find a manufacture and they did.

  • to each his own, but man to not know the joy of having a child and to outright discourage it. I think thats really sad.

  • He made a joke! He loves his own children

  • he is discouraging having a child during school or starting up a business.

    That magical joy takes time.

  • True on #1. True on #4. A company is not a social partner. Need to hire people that you need - not people you like.

  • @leafmedium

yes identify what people are good at... and make them do it, which makes them happy that they can do what they are good at. which in the end of the day makes you happy since they make a good job

  • evil

  • Yes on #1, Yes on #2, Definitely on #3, Absolutely on #4 - FAIL!

  • Why don't they teach these success principles in schools?

    Ashish Singh Rahway

  • From the background, this looks like part of a lecture series class at Stanford where people like him come in to talk.

  • @skyglide01 Lol the ruling class dont want everybody to be educated

  • Whats interesting is all the mistakes are ego based. People look at self/spiritual devlelopment as something that is 'hokey new age' stuff but its what most of all the successful people have mastered and ALL the unsuccessful people haven't

  • This was a very thought provoking video, from someone who is obviously very experienced in the field of business.

  • Im not a entrepreneur or businessman and have no desire to be (yet) but in my humble opinion and in addition to whats been said in this video. I think one of the biggest keys to being successful in business etc, is one of the most simple ones, and thats just being passionate about what it is your doing. The people who are successful in life are passionate and their committed and they make sacrifices to be where they want to be.

  • If your not genuine about something and do it for all the wrong reasons your doomed to failure, reasons such as impressing people, and as what was mentioned, proving how smart you are and so forth.

  • Because its that passion drives you and as a result of that passion youll succeed, for example if you want to have the greatest music shop per say, then youve gotta be passionate about music, and if your passionate about music that means your knowledgeable and interested about it, and if your knowledgeable and interested about it that means you can relate to people and potential customers and what it is they want?

  • you understand them? which means youll be committed to your music shop and will make sacrifices to make it the best music shop there is by hiring expert and genuine people and doing whats right for the business (all because you want to) and why? because your genuinely passionate about it?

    Just my two cents.

  • thought provoking :)

  • well I don't know a succesful entrepreneur who haven't had any children... maybe choosing the right partner is the best tip...

  • Awesome. Brief and to the point...

  • focus on achievements and learn from the experience of making a mistake

  • who is he?

  • is it just me or this told everyone never to raise children?

Lots of blow in stanford I hear, and not the moist kind.

  • actually raising childen has very little to do with the real world of business if i had a company i would hire a single lady not becuase i want to have sex with her but i would not want a woman who is married has kids and have to drop everything everytime something happens

i was buying a forceclouser once the reator was a lady went to meet her to look at the house she was not in her office her kid was sick so i went with another realtor if i did not someone else would ha closed on it that day

  • This is not only sexistic, it is discriminating, chauvinistic and against labour law, at least in Germany.

  • it is fact just because you brought kids in the world and raised them does not make you a good business person

  • i didnt claim this, just as the opposite is not true either. But discriminating women, simply for their nature and neglecting them for a career jump forward, because they are or might becomne mother is really stupid. You must see, regardless whether they are man or woman, if they are able to do their business. This is in the long-term also not good for the company.

  • so you missed an opportunity just because they weren't there at the right time for you... I Don't see much potential in your ways... lol

  • great content, thanks

  • having 3 balls helps me ! big ones ! if you dont have 3 pray for god to bless you with a third ball !!!!!!

  • Focus on the Key tip and it will help you.

  • 4Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

  • He is not Eminem's dad.

  • Getting most common investors is a very good business plan. Free business plan template from

unitedbizbooks. com/business_pro.php . There are many ways to start but be prepared.Best Wishes

  • @romarebearden

HAHAAAHHAHA i was laughing for like 8 seconds

  • its nice, specialy the 2nd and last one are very hard to avoid. As its natual desire for human to prove him smart. Also its very hard to kill self desire of being ceo (smartest person) of your company.

  • None of you know how to take good notes. The 5 biggest mistakes entrepreneurs make (according to Kaplan) are:

    1. having unclear goals

    2. trying to prove that you're smart

    3. greed - doing it for the money

    4. hiring friends instead of the best person for the job

    5. not knowing when to stand aside

  • 3 is debatable. It seems to go against the views presented in any standard economics textbook: that an entrepreneur is primarily driven by the profit motive. This may imply that 'greed' is an essential element in entrepreneurship, but hording the equity is rarely if ever the most economical way to produce goods and maximize profits.

  • The difference from doing it for passion or a meaningful goal for example is that, it's hard to keep moving forward (when doing just for money) while every start-up has a tough time in the beginning.

  • I think the third point is more like going for a motivation problem.Sruser92 your right about the "main" goal of a company to achieve maximiziation of profit ... earning money and so on.However its a problem if you go in to get the biggest money by risking the least.Thats what i thought the speaker said to us.Like most companies it depends that you risk something to get something. But doesnt work if you risk too less but "greed" same amount money. And thats what i thought he meant with greedy.

  • Thanks for noting it down.

  • what a good guy

  • FIVE biggest mistakes that entrepreneurs make

    1. try to be smart

    2. don't want to share the credit

    3. greed

    4. dont just hire the people you like. you need more points of view

    5. not distributing the equity

  • KIds and women will hold you back. Get them after you are successful.

  • im still in my small beginnings...this great.

  • This is a good reminder goals should be set all round in life and im just saundering along time to motivate and set goals.

  • 1. Vision should be specific

    2. Failure to create and adhere to a detailed and realistic business plan.

    3. Failure to revisit the business plan on a weekly, monthly, quarterly and annually.

    4. Hiring the wrong people

    5. Not getting enough rest, sex and the right nutrition

  • Not getting enough sex? What does that have to do with business

The truth is here. Now children listen to Jasons speech to teens about sex and you will be mature as he is.

    pure love club ,com

    1. click Listen/Public school/Real audio

    2. email to all friends

    3. you will no longer be a "secret admirer of sleaze"

    4. you can thank me later,

  • @doublesal thanks for the summary. if u havent already done, please listen to Jim Rohn - The day your life change around. Also John assaraf's money making stuffs are great

  • Typically it is lack of focus which is linked to goals. Most entrepreneurs spread themselves too thin, too many ideas and rather, if they focused on a singular mission, they do better at achieving milestones...

  • I worked for 16 STARTUPS between 1998-2004, 12 of which went BUST.

The mistake the entrepreneurs made were:

    1. Dealing in things they knew nothing about.

    2. Wasting money on decorating the office.

    3. Hiring their friends and letting them play around instead of working.

    4. Not being specific about what you're doing.

    5. Not working hard enough.

  • So you learned all that huh? Perhaps you should add a lesson for yourself too there, to undertake better due diligence before taking on your 13th failure job!

  • I just started studying business economy and I also learned that setting goals is important. So it's cool to see this.

  • "equity is like shit..." XD

    lol!

  • Wow, this advice has been AWESOME. I left my full-time job in January to start a small business and it's just starting to take off. I will be putting this advice in my bonnet for future reference. Thanks for uploading the video. =)

  • Being an Entrepreneur myself, knows exactly what he is talking about, especially when it comes to creating goals for yourself.

  • Does Donald Trump really teach people how to be rich? Please somebody answer me. I am going to the "Way to Wealth seminar" this Sunday but I am not sure if it's going to be a waste of time. I've never been to one but I'm afraid I am going to get there and they are just going to try to sell me stuff. Stuff which I have no guarantee will help me. I plan to go into foreclosures so when the market picks up I can make huge amounts but I'm not sure I can do it without an experienced person guiding me.

  • From my experience, most "wealth" seminar or motivational seminar is part of a business "thing"... Off course there are a lot to be learn in the seminar, but the most important thomg is that we ourselves make the initiatives to implement these knowledges...

    Good Luck...

  • This guy has some great advice. As an entrepreneur, I would be far from cocky and be willing to help at all costs. Its the good people we all need to go to, not the shitasses.

  • I like your style man :)

  • good advise..

  • greed is enternal lol

  • first rule of acqustion #sometimes is is smart to play dumb it confusses the hell out of others

  • money is an asset use it or loss itdo not set on it

  • you can make money with the gov i do

  • Money Make Rule not Goverment....

  • Thanks! Nice video. I would love to become an entrepreneur.

  • I would have to disagree with point #2 and somewhat point #4.

Money is, and should, be the ultimate motivator for Entrepreneurs.

I disagree somewhat with point #4 because like-ability is one of the most important "skill" in the work force. People do and buy things for people they like. A like-able person will get things done a lot easier and quicker then someone who's a prick.

  • I agree with this, It also depends on the area(s) you do business in also. Like where I'm from Albany, GA. lots of people here hate Walmart but they have verry low prices so many are forced to shop there anyway. so it has a lot to do with the market you are in. BUt I agree with you.

  • As an entrepreneur myself I find that what really motivates me is the desire to deliver value and have a tangible and positive impact on my customers. Of course we are there to make money, but money is just a result of the passion and desire to serve and excel at everything that we do.

  • Nicely said man. There needs to be good people in the industry.

  • Nice video thanks for posting

  • Very nice info here.
