  • Wow! Really beautiful performance! Sarah Soularue rocks!

  • This organ is breath-taking. Absolutely beautiful. Bravo to Allen !

  • superbe !Impression d 'être à la Madeleine

  • superbe !

  • Very well done...French organ music of this calibre stirs the soul like no other...

    This organist is very gifted...Merci

  • Une magnifique pièce de Maurice Duruflé, interprétée, à mon avis, à la perfection, et servie par un instrument ET une vidéo de très grande qualité. Merci pour l'émotion et encore bravo.

  • Really excellent playing, I must say. A great performance of one of mmy favorite pieces!

  • Again Allen Organs shows the world they are the absolute best in the digital realm! What a convincing sound in a challenging space!

  • It sounds VERY good for a digital, I'm not going to lie - I probably wouldn't be able to tell the difference if it weren't for the slightly overclear attack on the rohrfloteish stop she's drawn. The decay is EXCELLENT.

And on that note, great performance as well as an excellent display from the digital organ market. That said, for the purchase price of that instrument they could probably have repaired the existing organ and added a few new ranks to boot.

  • @willowthebored I agree with you in all essential points but I am wondering about the costs you suggest. A restoration rebuild of an organ of that size would be in the $US2 - 3 million range and take a year or more to complete. This is what the 2010 rebuild by Klais, of the 1911 Auckland Town Hall organ cost, and is probably a pretty fair benchmark. Would the digital organ have cost more than that? I don't know.

  • @peteacher52 Allen Organ Opus II Elite has cost less than 250,000.00 €

  • @allenstudio Amazing! That's roughly the same as a Bosendorfer Imperial or Fazioli grand piano!

  • For those who don't know, as well as having a reputation for being very difficult to play, this work is considered by many to be one of the finest pieces of organ music ever composed.

  • WOW... the word superb come to mind but is inadequate, an extraordinary performance start to finish!! Sarah Soulare, supremely gifted! TC in Dunedin, FL

  • Is there also a pipe organ in the church?

  • @lumbee888 Yes but out of order

  • @allenstudio Excellent performance of Durufle. :) Why didn't they repair the pipeorgan?

  • @johannuscro it may be restored in the future

  • Wonderful performance and beautiful sound.

  • @maestr0bec Thank you for your comments

  • Allen, hybrid, electro-pneumatic or tracker — I'm not a purist. All I know is Sarah performing Durufle literally produced chills and tears in me! The sound quality here is stellar.

  • Fine playing on the best of modern musical-instrument technology here. BTW, what information is to hand on the case that now houses Op. 2's speakers?

  • 42 speakers is housed in the balcony:

    -14 for the Swell manual

    - 4 for Festival Trumpet

    - 8 for Choir manuel

    - 16 for Great ùanual and Pedal

  • @bcschmerker All speakers are manufactured by Allen Organ Company

  • A wonderful performance of this moving tribute to Jehan Alain by his friend Maurice Duruffle.

The Allen organ sounds very good.

I would love to hear this piece played on the Cavaille Coll organ at St Ouens

  • A wonderful performance of this glorious and moving tribute to Jehan Alain by his friend Maurice Duruffle.

    The organ sounds beautiful.

I would very much like to hear this played on the St Ouen's organ.

  • La musique d'organe belle, magique, j'aimerais beaucoup de l'artiste d'autres enregistrements solides!

  • Rather than the statues, lets see her marvelous playing.

What happened to the real organ?

    Appears gutted. Being renovated?

Should have shown her playing the beginning of the fugue and firstime subject in the pedal.

    Too little pedal shown.

Organ sounds wonderful here. And in perfect tune!

Wonderful organist playing a magnificent work.

    RWG Denver, Colorado USA

  • The original organ has no pipe, only the organ case is classified and in future be restored

  • I think the statues are a wonderful scene for the music in the background. Afterall, faith is what the music is all about. Not the other way around. :-)

The music as well as the organ are Gorgeous! No sheet music, Bravo.

  • Madame Soularue's peformance of this piece is nothing less than brilliant. This Allen installation is very fine. It is on par with any Marshall/Ogletree instrument. Not all Allen installations are this successful, however.

  • I totally agree with you, for both of the things you point out. However my sensibility is especially caught by Mme Soularue's thrillingly subtle approach of Duruflé's music. I think we can say that the sacrifice she made to come to France to study with him appears not less than worth it.

  • Bravissima! molto chiaro il preludio ed eccellente il senso logico della fuga! Ottimo strumento!

Bravissima! Very clear the prelude and an excellent logic sense in the fugue! A great instrument also!

  • My compliments to Ms. Soularue. Her technique and style make this difficult, classic and pivotal Durufle seem simple. The music danced of the screen and came to life. Brava, Sarah, Brava!

  • Quelle magnifique interprétation et quel orgue !!!!!! Félicitations !!!!!! on en redemande......

  • This is a really superb performance - the unusually measured and consistent rhythmic drive exhibited in the fugue is yet another gifted take on what I consider to be a Durufle signature piece.

  • Many thanks for your comments
