This is based on the famous Hannya mask worn in Japan’s Noh theater. it depicts a beautiful woman who has been turned into a horned monster because of her jealousy and anger at being rejected after falling in love with a priest.

its horns look much diffrent than many hannya made they look broken at first glance but it looks liek tis been cut into wedge tips prolly to avoid harm ..but i couldnt say..its a very nice hand made mask..worth allot of money and worth allot of respect too.

Yeah i just dont see how a ninja could run around in this scring people if the noh practitioners themselves have to design the stage they do their plays on with the right angles just to see where they are going. You tell me could you picture yourself stealthily attacking/assasinating someone with no peripheral vision and limeted site. let alone steal from people. i dunno just doesnt seem right to me?

This mask has nothing to do with martial arts. The real story behind it is that its a depiction of a japanese lady who fell in love with a preist but because the preist wasnt able to consummate the lady grew twisted with jealousy and anger.. so much so that her fac egrew disfigured and sh grew horns and turned into a demon. nuff said. its from an old noh japanese play
