  • lol this song is just one continuous herion nod. still great!

  • this album is my favorite Alice in Chains album but yeah all their albums are good and unique and my claim means nothing. Its my way of showing faith and respect for these guys as im sure they faced the ill most amount of pressure.

  • omg, love this song, the riff, is deep and dirty and grungy and everything awesome, then that faster heavy riff comes in... blows my mind, every time. it sucks that they never play it good live...

  • I don't know why it took me so long to finally listen to this whole album... but as a long time fan of AIC and Jerry Cantrell, I must say that, despite Layne not singing, this album has some "unique chemistry" to it, especially this song, Duvall did a nice job, but as always, Alice In Chains' brain WAS, IS AND WILL BE Jerry Cantrell.

  • @chikaBurton !00% correct

  • AIC Forever

  • Those who want to hear the recording can go right to the link below.

  • great album, the heavy metal riff that begins about 3 minutes into the song sounds like Stone Dead Forever by Motorhead \m/

  • Im So Glad I Bought This Album

  • epic really amazing , aic is the best banda for the world

  • 2:41 = EPIC!!!

  • i have feelings and opinions and i will subject you all to them...

  • @13garo31

    too damn funny, lmao.

  • cantrell aint the riff master for no reason

  • I'm feeling so nostalgic listening to this. I just missed their time in the mainstream, but still my favorite band of all time nonetheless.

  • My favorite song on the album.

  • Alice in Chains has the best intros!

  • This song is simply brilliant.

Melancholic yet almost nostalgic at the same time. The harmonies are crafted to perfection and the music just seems to perpetuate a mystery so dark and deep, that I literally get goosebumps sometimes trying to wrap my mind around it... Easily one of the best songs off the album.

Layne will always be the man. He [is] AIC..

But I have to give credit where credit is due and imo this latest effort by Jerry and the gang is simply "the shit!" =)

  • A7X tried, they failed. Nickelback tried, they failed. My Chemical Romance tried, they failed. Alice in Chains tried, they succeeded. Good Rock music didn't die, it just had a nap and waited for Alice in Chains to wake up too. Despite the crap that everybody had to deal with in the 00's, AIC surpassed all that with a great Album.

  • Descent 2 title music rip off.

  • this song is consequence of long use of heroin!

  • Cantrell = lovably evil riffs.

  • This guitar really reminds me of Bleed The Freak

  • im glad they kept there shit together

  • @Zeromoz33

    Me too!!!

  • thank you jerry for carrying on AIC...best album of the 2000's by far .... this shit brings tears to my eyes..just knowing that music aint dead!

  • this song is sick. Great record.

  • This first verse maybe the darkest ever, like sitting in room with a black strobelight goin with Tom Araya, Ozzy, with the aura of Laynes, cliff burtons, and jim morrisons ghosts closing in on you.

  • this is a tune. layne would be proud that they went on to do this xxx and mike xxx

  • @zsozso99 Since always?

  • Jerry is A Rock GOD!!!!!!!

  • foo fighters / aic all good love them both i do its great stop hateing

  • one of the best choruses i've ever heard

  • this album is shocking. its so good

  • To me,the next album should be a mix of jar of flies+Dirt styles(Melodic guitars+Heavy rhythm)but keeping this doomy feeling from this album!

  • LONG LIVE AIC!!!!! they were, are, and will always be the best of them all!! \,,/ R.I.P. Layne and Mike :( you r missed!!

  • anyone saying that this is the best aic album, or that it's the least grunge, the most metal, whatever, needs to not talk. every aic album is unique. no two are alike. this is probably the most polished album they've released. alice in chains was a place and a time out of sight, out of mind, it won't return. their music was a heavy dose of reality to the mainstream teeny bopper nirvana metallica loving youth. it's the honesty in their music that keeps it together

  • @poseuresque how the hell is nirvana teeny bopper? Listen to the albums

  • @p1nkAcid Compared to AiC yes, teeny bopper? No, the lyrics in nirvana songs aren't teeny bopper considering their themes. Nirvana just seems more radio and mainstream friendly than Alice in Chains.

  • @JRgamervideos again if you consider their entire repertoire then in many regards they are simply not as mainstream as AiC. SOmething like I hate myself and want to die or milk it or gallon s of rubbing alcohol or scentless apprentice are dark and terribly depressing in parts. AiC has got this down as well but I think nirvana takes on grounds of hopelessness ergo the least mainstream.

  • @poseuresque I think Layne and Mikes death motivated them even more but everyone should just let their memory rest in peace

  • @poseuresque Much Agreed, this has to be their most polished album. But the music comes from the soul of four fantastic musicians. William Duvall doesn't have the uniqueness that Layne possessed, but he has the passion. It's what seperates the greats from the average. From Facelift on, Alice In Chains has released the most haunting and beautiful songs ever written. In my opinion anyway.

  • Comment removed

  • @poseuresque agreed

  • INTEND OBSOLESCENCE - BUILT INTO THE SYSTEM

  • @doomedarkness

Whoa, I didn't realize that was what they were saying.

    Deep shit.

  • @fallenpumpkinhead

    Get fucked you thumbwhore.

    Jesus.

  • Check out our band! we got four new songs! listen and enjoy

  • The intro gives me chills every time :D

  • The best AIC album, in my opinion, and the best song from it.

  • @skvamme13 ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not really...

  • this album is definately completed the transformation of aic from grunge to metal

  • @CLIFFxMUSTAINE

lol AIC will always be grunge. They can be metal too though i guess.

  • @JMV5171195 well then how do you define grunge?

  • @CLIFFxMUSTAINE I agree. Cantrell and DuVall's riffs on this new album are so heavy and doomy. People always give Alice in Chains the "grunge" label but to me they'll always be metal. Same with Soundgarden.

  • The best and most emotional guitar riff is the one after "Unloved inside your mind" and right before ''Intend obsolescence builds into the system"

  • this album is sooo loud...it's great, really great..but my god it's just so loud.

  • Happy Birthday Staley Layne!!!

  • Old Alice In Chains=New Alice In Chains.

    Equally amazing!

  • love this song

  • this song is cloned!

see : Timoria Europa 3 , on youtube

  • @millenovantotto no cigar

  • this song is cloned!

  • AIC still on top of the music world with this album!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 7 people were built into the system.

  • As good as Layne was, the true AIC vocals come from the duet or whatever you wanna term it with Cantrell

  • @NooDLES411911 yeah i like both but i think jerry doesnt get enough credit sometimes

  • It's great to see them back on top form, I'm just hoping they record a new record after this. The gig they performed in Nottingham Rock City, Dec '09 was amazing!!!!! William Du Vall certainly brings his own style to plate which is what you want. Rock on Alice In Chains!!!!!!

  • Never like the original alice in chains, but a nice album

Alice in Chains were 10 these Alice are 6.5

  • awsome cd layne or not

oh and jerry kills so does the new guy man

  • awsome cd layne or not

  • Alice in Chains are ACE!!! Any one who disagrees can go suck a porcupines balls becuase they're small and they don't GIVE A SHIT!

    RIP LAYNE

  • this is one of my fav's off the new album

It has an oldschool Alice feel..... then that badass guitar rips and I go "Ooooooooooooh Shit" :D

  • The bass riff in this song is soooo damn good >_<

  • When a band fires a member no has negative shit to say about the band or the replacement but when a band member dies, everybody wants to talk shit, i think duvall is a good fit for AIC. and most importantly hes not trying to be layne staley, he is doing his own thing with a band that still rocks. this album rocks long live AIC

  • @clemsonjami tottaly agree....although they didnt fire layne..........he died. Still good point.

  • @clemsonjami oh wait never mind, read comment wrong. Sorry

  • I love this album it's so dark and fucking misterious

  • This song is deep as hell. Gimme at least one thumbs

  • @fallenpumpkinhead U get 44 thumbs up, including one from me

  • @fallenpumpkinhead i gave you a thumb...DOWN guffawguffawguffaw

  • i've always prefered aic and soundgarden to nirvana and pearl jam simply bcuz they sounded heavier and darker, dont get me wrong i love pearl jam, maybe little less nirvana, but they just dont have the heavy steamrolling sound, and this tune proves my point, its FUCKIN HEAVY

  • fukkin love it, all of it, new chains old chains, love all of it, cantrell is the fukkin man, yeah it sucks staley is gone, sucks hard but chains is chains and its always badass, if people dont like it then they can eat a dick

  • I loved the old Alice In Chains, but I'm glad they kept making music, and they swatched their style up a bit. Kinda represents a rebirth of AlC.

  • "Intend obsolescence, built into the system!" DAMN, that's heavy! I love it!

  • great song for driving at night

  • @The272kms I think "When The Sun Rose Again" is a GREAT song to drive to. Esp. when it's snowing out!

  • Comment removed

  • funky butt lovin'

  • OHOHOHOHO, CRAP, this is heavy!

  • Comment removed

  • i think Black Gives Way to Blue is their darkest album yet.

  • @ilovechipotle85 yeah i agree. its a very heavy album, thats very well written. heavy in a different way than earlier AIC material. but Fucking heavy and fucking dark. and fucking GOOD

  • i like 2:20 to 2:40 ALOT

  • aic was definitly a better overall vocal experiance with lane. but the music is till good no mater how you slice it.

  • @crimmy0204 Layne not Lane.

  • fuking right!!

    Cheers for the album dudes

  • For those who disliked this song, that probably also means you also disliked the riff. How the hell can anyone NOT love that riff?!

  • One of my all time favorite songs ever!

  • heard this shit live on friday in seattle this was so fucking sickkk!

  • omg, this song is so awesome. alice in chains kicks ass and forever will!

  • lol.. how does this sound any different than the old stuff?? even the singer almost sounds the same.... i like it... little slow.. but i like it...

  • The new Alice sound is Tool-esque, which I mean as a total compliment

  • @artman4444 What the hell you mean the NEW Alice sound? The music before and now sounds the same. Don't forget that the same four dudes are still playing guitar, drums and bass (Mike being JOF and the ST).

  • Comment removed

  • @artman4444 I said that back in '94 and a couple friends looked at me like I was crazy. I still say the two bands fried together or something, and they both kick ass on the same inspiration (soundwise.)

  • @artman4444 But its not, so go home.

  • bought it

  • youtubes two forms of entertainment

    1. videos

    2. comments...especially the arguments, there's a lot of dumbass people on youtube :D

    P.S. loving the album

  • You Can't Predict A Single Note Out Of Any Fucken Band- So Sit There And Pay Attention -Dont Open Your Mouth And Accept It Bitch HAH !! LOVE THIS ALBUM- Kicks Major Ass !! WOO !! BlackDiamondSkye 7.10.10

  • This is easily the best rock album of the last decade (not hard I know)

  • @MrHello435222 I totally agree with you

  • @MrHello435222 i agree, but then again, Foo Fighters new album has just come out. im split between the 2

  • @glensk8 Since when is Foo Fighters counts as rock?

  • @zsozso99 since they were formed in 1994

  • @zsozso99 fuck you foo fighters are rock music dpshit.

  • @MrHello435222

I'd give that honor to 'Songs for the Deaf.'

  • I never thought in today's age that an album would come out that I would actually consider buying, but this one was worth every penny. Keep up the good work, guys...

  • The only way to stay sane watching a music video on YouTube anymore is to just not look at the comment section.

  • @Orygyn hahaha well put.

  • Gotta love the song's transition at 2:44

  • This is everything (except of course Layne) that anyone could want from AIC... a thick, grungy dirge and those trademark harmonies. Hard to believe people are so critical of this.

  • @Nevada6886 that's pretty much EXACTLY what i've been saying this whole time.

  • I have seen AIC live a couple times now with Duvall as their front man.. and I have loved it each time. They're one of those great bands that sound just as good live as they do on their album!

  • Fuck this album is heavy.

  • Gran cancion , es mi favorita de el album, Duvall ha hecho nueva historia con AIC. Por alli he oido comentarios de un nuevo album, sera cierto??

  • I don't know why...but 6:20 and on sounds like dave mustaine singing to me

  • This is one of the best songs for me ever. I thought that nowadays songs never gonna be as awesome as songs at 80's and 90's. Thanks God I was wrong and thanks Jerry and other members of this fucking incredible band. 2:22 - 2:42 hypnotize me.

  • In my opinion, Will is no Layne. Layne was genius but still Will is a great musician. You can't, you shouldn't compare them. Personally I prefer Layne and old AiC, but I'm glad that their still trying and succeeding in making good music. Long live AiC!

  • Jerry and Will sound amazing together

  • How can everyone say Layne is the best ever, and there is no one like him but at the same time be mad Will is not like Layne? How can you say Layne is one of a kind yet demand a copy?

  • @YupperDoodelz Exactly. Great choice of words btw.

  • Everytime I hear this song it kicks me right in the ass

  • Alice In Chains are still Alice In Chains...AC/DC didn't change their name when Bon Scott died....so why should AIC? It helps though if you pretend they're some whole new band...you can't deny how amazing this album is...

  • @MotleyCrueGroupie You can't compare the AIC situation to the ACDC one. Layne was a huge part of the band. wrote 50 percent of the lyrics, AIC was his band name. and he was an A+ vocalist.

Layne played a much bigger role than Bon Scott. They should have changed the name of the band.

  • Tripped to this song at an AIC concert. Completely blew my mind

  • @WbCobain lol

Im right and ur wrong lol. conversation over.

  • @krunkjuice90

lol, no IM right and UR wrong!!!

  • The emotion in this song is palpable. Fantastic song.

    AIC lives on!

  • If you close your eyes, and forget all about their history and listen to this as if it were some new band you have never heard before... you can't ignore how good it is.

  • @magneteye i have to tend to do that sometimes, lol

i like duvall but im still stuck on staley everyone once in a while

  • crap!!

  • I think its good but.... I still dont mix this new AIC tunes with my Layne Staley tunes, that wont do.

  • @krunkjuice90 you're retarded,

I'm tired of people who thinks that AIC was only Layne!

There are other members you know?

so stop saying that Will sucks,No one can do a better work than him! You should be happy because this band sitll GRUNGEs!

if you are disappointed I DONT FUCKING CARE BUT I BET THE ONLY PEOPLE WHO SUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS, ARE THE PEOPLE WHO THINK LIKE YOU

SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ENJOY ALICE IN CHAINS!

I SAW THEM AND THEY ARE INSANE! SO I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT ;D

  • Very disrespectful people first they take the money of the people who paid for the concert then they talk crap about those people. I didn't know that they were racist. but they are.

  • I honestly don't understand these people. If a band changes it's style they complain because they want the same style. But if they don't they complain that their albums are all the same and they never change! MAKE UP YOUR MINDS. You people that criticize the new AIC clearly havent heard music nowadays, that is somethin worth criticizing. Be happy that AIC is still tryin to do good music; this is a kick ass album, SO SHUT THE FUCK UP AND ENJOY GOOD MUSIC DANMIT!

  • @SLASHdaROCKER This song sounds like something off Facelift they didnt change their style one bit. Some sounds sound like Jerry Cantrells solo shit but thats ok with me. This album was great it sold good and it sold because it was great

  • @JayT851 well, you're someone who agrees with me, I'm pissed off at the people who keep saying it sucked when it didn't.

  • @SLASHdaROCKER The youtube people have bad opinions their opinions dont count its the people you know in reality and all the people i know said this album kicks ass

  • @JayT851 Yeah, some people I talked to liked it and some not so much. You were luckier than I was.

  • @SLASHdaROCKER I'm just happy to hear Jerry still has it and hasent lost a single thing.. I guess you cant please everybody.. Hope to see them on tour soon.

    ~L~

  • @SLASHdaROCKER AMEN BROTHER!!!!!

  • @SLASHdaROCKER very much the true state of it

  • @SLASHdaROCKER ...Thank....thank you *bows*

  • @SLASHdaROCKER haha you copied and pasted this comment on as many AIC vids as you could huh? nice. spread the word that this album is awesome and the haters have their heads stuck up their own asses. LOVING THE ALBUM AIC YOU GUYS ARE STILL AWESOME

  • @SLASHdaROCKER

its because people arent 1 person but more persons ... but yeah great rant

  • @SLASHdaROCKER You're right... isn't still the same band, but it's a kick ass band... I really enjoyed the new album

  • all guys who ditch William DuVall should just shut it and be happy. Of Course he's not Layne, no one is Layne! Everyone was sad when he died but you know, you gotta move on. You people who criticize DuVall should be happy that AIC found him. He is great. He manages to sound like Layne and still have his own style. Of course he doesn't have Layne's power and energy, but it's pretty fuckin close. There is no better replacement. If you guys don't like him, then go listen to somethin else.

  • @SLASHdaROCKER amen brother

  • the emotion in this song is incredible!

  • The heavy riffs and the lyrical phrase "Intent obsolescence / Built into the system" are such epic things for this band. I love it.

  • WHAT A WONDERFUL SONG, THIS ONE IS FOR ME !!!!!!!!!!!! I DEDICATE IT TO MYSELF, TERA1320 CYBERPUNK EXTRODINAIRE !!!!!!!!

  • WHAT A WONDERFUL SONG !!!!!!! THIS ON

  • I only wish Cantrell would put his ego aside and let the lead singer actually sing. As it stands, this sounds exactly like another Jerry Cantrell solo album. His voice is just terribly when it isn't in harmony with somebody else's. But the guy has a massive ego. Can't sell tickets with "Jerry Cantrell," so he figures he'll call it "Alice in Chains" and let the new "lead singer" sing backup a few times during the album.

  • @amorphis You're an idiot. Jerry's ego? Both Jerry and Will sang 50/50 on this record. Jerry sang lead on Taker her Out, Lesson Learned, BGWTB, and Your Decision. Will sang lead on Last of my Kind, Private Hell, Acid Bubble, and a Looking in view, the rest was clearly the combination of the 2. I mean damn check my brain had both of them singing the same ammount. Dumbass

  • They were beyond being amazing @ Sonisphere Istanbul. And they played this song :) Looking forward to their next gig in Istanbul. Awesome band!

  • Probably my favorite song on the album. Who am I kidding? I love them all.. but this song is so god damn good!

  • Yeah, Layne obviously was one of a kind. IMO he made AiC one of the best bands of all time. They still kick more ass than just about any other band or "musician" around now.

  • @Y2JLionHeart You forget Pantera

  • Great song

  • I wish jerry can will would sing this together live. it sounds so much cooler when they're both singing it.

  • Awesome song. Jerry and Will sound great together.
