Rollin' a 92 Marq with OEM duals, looking to run up on some turn down Cherry Bombs or Purple Hornies. Piss off the 03 Mustang GT ragtop owner across the street. He's got him a set of Flowmasters on his.
Good news for me? Pre-cat O2 sensors ONLY. Bad news for me? I don't think there's anywhere to hang the pipes ... Anyone ever try it?
@scottericlee Just cut off your back cats, your reasonators and your front ones if you can get a piece welded up in there, its going to have to be a bent piece of pipe then re-wire your o2 sensors or get a sensor delete and run some sort of glasspack or even a magnaflow muffler
@Leafsrule016 Resonators are long, long, long, LONG gone. I could bung in a set of O2s in a custom downpipe from the back of the exhaust manifolds and end in a header flange ... what I'm really trying to find is a place between the bell housing and the back seats to hang some shorty glasspaks. The Merc is now sitting idle because of valve problems, so I'm stuck with a 2.4L I-4 '97 Plymouth Voyager as my main ride. Just frickin' kill me now, please!
tthe only body kit i know of is the one from the movie taxi and it looks pretty bad. a new edge mach one mustang chin spoiler should fit fine and looks nice.
i definetly like this. i own a 98 grand marquis. i love the car. way better then my 97 cavalier that i had. i believe it has a alot of potential to be built. mine is bone stock atm. im going to get a sound system for it and then work on the looks by gettin rims and a body kit IF i can find one that will fit, then a paint job and then start doing engine work. flowmasters look like the way to go for sure
@Gordonfan24 thanks.. how much was it.. and how long does it take to put on.. also does it increase performance or does it jus make the car sound badass
@561sage It was about $600 at Meineke. I don't know how long it "should" take, but it took the guy that did it literally all day because they were very busy. I would guess a couple hours. The performance gain is minimal, if anything, on a stock car, so it's mostly for the sound.
@chrisiscool7 Nice. I love the Toreador Red on these cars. As I've said in some earlier comments, the whole system ran me about $600 at Meineke. You can probably get it cheaper somewhere else, especially if you supply the mufflers, but that's a ballpark you can keep in mind.
Meineke. Any exhaust shop will bend some pipes and install mufflers for you, though. I recommend looking around before buying anything, because I got overcharged.
it sound ok, but i think u paid too much. imma put mines on you tube. I got a 94 grand marquis with cat back duals with 2 flow masters and i paid 469 parts and labor and a 4year warranty
My brother just wrecked our Mother's '95 White Grand Marquis. We think they may "total" it. Would you be interested in selling & if so what does the inside look like & what options are on it?
I am interested in selling it. Probably this summer. It needs a new front bumper cover, new driver's interior door panel, and new headliner. I have new O2 sensors to go in as well. It needs some help, but it's still a hard working car that has gotten me from NJ-to-NC a dozen times and NJ to WV a few times, as well as two awards at a car show a while back. Interior is decent. There's something wrong with the floor. Hard to explain... If you're really interested, message me.
i have a 95 marquis can i just go to a shop and ask them how much money it would cost to get this done? cuz i want the 40 series 2 chamber dual exhaust
Hey man, I have a '96 Marquis and I want to put some on mine... so I have a question! About how much did it cost you to get this done? Do you have a stereo system in yours?
Letting Meineke do all the work (and including the labor), it ran me $600 or so without tax. The mufflers, you can buy separately to save a few bucks. With the mufflers, closer to $800.
That's what I was told, but I looked into the 40 series line and they're "40 Series Original", as Flowmaster calls them. So they aren't Supers or Deltas.
Yea, if you remove the cats, it'll be a little louder. And if you shorten the exhaust piping so that it exits somewhere under the car, it'll also be louder since the sound waves bounce off the car and the road. Neither of these should be done before checking your local laws, though, as you might get some attention from cops for illegal exhaust exit location or failed inspection for no catalytic converters.
An exhaust job done the right way. Nice sounding car man. But you're right. The 40's are great for sound, and sound alone. I'm looking into new mufflers now.
Yep. The only motor they came with was the 4.6L. If your friend is just going for sound, the Flowmasters are great, but as far as performance, they're pretty bad. They don't flow very well.
I Got Me A 97 Grand Marquis. I Wanted To Take My Catalytic Converters Out, & Put In Str8 Pipes And Do A Custom Mandrel Bent 2 1/2 Inch Piping With A Flowmaster Super 44 Series Muffler: (Single Inlet / Dual Outlet). How Do You Think Mines 'll Sound?? Also I Was Gonna Do A K&N Cold Air Intake Made For A Mercury Maruader...
man i got the 99 model year and the flow master exhuast for my car will cost 250 with a 2yr warranty but my exhaust will look like my regular tail pipes.
my g/f just got an 08 marquis and it shouldn't be that hard to find exhaust systems for these cars. there are some assholes where i live at who won't help you locate any but if they can make a kit for a clown vic then they can make one for a marquis. they have the same chassis and frame so finding one shouldn't be difficult. the problem is finding other aftermarket parts like intake, headers, and and cams. those are mainly for stangs and trucks. but good luck in whatever you put on it.
Sorry. Just saw this. Cost me $550 plus tax for the pipes and work. And they charged me $140 each for the mufflers - rip off... If you buy the mufflers separately, it won't be as much.
Custom. No one makes a kit for these cars (and probably never will). If you're going to upgrade to larger diameter pipes, it will have to be custom bent.
i have a 98 grand marquis, how much did your flowmasters cost for this cause i was looking to put some on mine too lol that sounds really good they're 40's right?
I got one juzt like this n im tryn to get sum exhaust wat would b the best out
