  • Bad ass hinges. I can only imagine what the gate looks like.

  • @DangerousDan762 you can see the gate in a few previous videos....

  • Dan the hinges look great, the workmanship is up to your high standards. Did you fabricate the stainless steel cylinders on that American lathe or were the store bought. I like the zerk fitting and ball bearing your always looking ahead, good job. Hope to see more of you vids. THANKS TONY G. cougarman07470

  • @cougarman07470 it was 316 mechanical tube I buffed to outside on the lathe, but it was already the right size. I did machine the bronze on the old lathe, she's still got a few issues but it does the job! that's the only lathe I have....

  • amazing good quality!! very nice

  • Those hinges you made are built better than my house, amazing.

  • @ImRamro you should build a stainless house!

  • @modernblacksmith It still wouldn't last as long as your hinges. I have seen a lot of custom welds and things on YT, but the real thing is always hand made and always made by masters of their craft like you. When I was a senior in high school I worked for a Master gunsmith Roy Stone. I refinished a pistol blue. Stone looked at it and said " These scratch marks stand out like a diamond in a goats ass." I learned then to be a master you have to do jobs 10 times better than you can buy them new

  • now those are some damn nice hinges man!

  • @kiksforge thank you, these only came out so well because we had to design them to handle the excessive weight of these gates, they became very heavy from poor design and then they wanted them galvanized so they are now 400 lbs. each

  • why the ball bearings?

  • @jdouglasfisher the ball bearing allows the gate to open easier because it has such a small contact area with the gate pin. If it were to just sit in the hinge, flat on the bottom, it can sometimes stick and be quiet difficult to open especially if its a heavy gate.

  • @kiksforge I didn't know that, but now you mention it, it makes perfect sense. Thank you...

    J....

  • @jdouglasfisher he nailed it.

  • Ya buddy nice hinges looks like alot of work! But cool that you thought about the grease nipple nice job

  • @CCSinventions ya gotta have the nipples (and they need to be stainless steel)

  • @modernblacksmith Sry for my immaturity but lol :)

  • Very nice stuff!
