I'm 5'0 just about 5'1..the break in the knees and the crotch area are shorter than "normal' sized pants.most womens clothing are designed for a woman that is 5'6 and up..
I am shorter than you, and I can totally relate. I can go to most stores, but still run into this problem occassionally. The best thing you could do is make great friends with a tailor. I have Mr. Sammy who makes all my alterations. It costs more, but everything fits. Furthermore, petite clothing ususally costs more anyway.
i'm 5'0 tall and i usually go to the dry cleaners or give my dresses and pants to my grandmother to hem. it's not very expensive either. i'm curious where you live though, because where i live there is usually a petites section in all the young adult and business adult stores with very stylish wear.
you could try shoping from the kiddies department, its not embarising, its fun, exciting and new. an alternative would be those golf pants they make for 65year olds. you know with the squares and the bright colors. nah that ll never catch on.
just wear plain looking stuff, or something that symbolises your personal feelings, I wear band t shirts and stuff because they are cheap and just as good quality as any other and they show something about me i guess :)
I CAN NEVER FIND PANTS THAT FIT!!!! I am the same height as you (5'1 or 5'2... I dunno), and I find it is next to impossible to find pants that fit me length wise. I have pretty much given up and just buy pants at regular stores and then have them hemmed. Sucks, but what can you do? According to the people who make clothes, we're all freaking tall monsters or models or something. Gah!
I'm 5'4", and I've given up on finding pants that aren't at least two inches too long. Now I buy whatever pants fit my hips and then have a tailor hem them. It only costs like ten bucks extra, and now my pants are always the perfect length.
I am but 5'3 and I am definitely with you in the search for pants that fit my height. Recently I have given up and started chopping off my jeans to make them the right length for my legs, think the frayed look is kind of cute. I am from Vancouver and I find that Reitman's/Ricki's and Bluenotes tend to be pretty good for pants... But I am not sure if they have those stores in the states?
You didn't even touch on the insane shit they do with regards to sizes. what the hell is a size 8? Sheesh. Inches. Obscuring how many inches your waist is is so 1850s.
I have a solution for you! and it works great for me. Just don't wear pants. Yea, just make sure you have on a reasonable looking pair of underware. People don't do anything. So what if they say stuff behind your back.Just a thought.
Many midgets live rewarding and full lives. You'll be fine.
I'm teasing. You're intelligent & industrious,I'm sure with a little practice you could become the hem-master.Shit,you could start a business modifying pants for all the other rockin' shorties.
Try going to Kohls and look at the juniors section and they have "short" pants. I mean it literally says it on the tag. That's where I get my pants! ^_^
Why don't you buy 'normal' [I don't like using that word -- you're not abnormal -- I just can't think of anything else] sized pants, and get them hemmed?
As I've said to others, paying to get them hemmed is ridiculous. My mom will do it but rarely. Some day I might be able to do it myself but now I'm afraid I will end up with messed up pants. I just wish I could find pants that work.
I totally get how you feel. I know what it's like to not be able to find anything that fits... You are right in saying that you have the right to be able to buy pants that fit properly -- anyone does :)
my pants just end up frayed in the back, hah. i dont have a machine to hem them, and you're not supposed to use a regular machine with jeans, and it costs like 15 bucks to have something hemmed. bah. i feel your pain.
At 5'3" I completely feel your pain. The Up Side is you are working in a craft store! So.. two words.. Scissors & Stitch witchery. All ya gotta do it Iron some hems in and you are good to go! =o)
I wish you good luck... you don't need pants... a friend in need is a friend indeed... it is just a physiological need... Maslow's hierarchy of needs (humanistic psycology) put sex as a physiological need on account of superior needs which are always simultaneously satisfied in humans...
My sister is 4'9" and it is SO hard to find clothing that fits AND that she likes.
Ann Taylor's The Loft is where she has been shopping a lot lately. Cute styles and although the most new fashions are a little expensive, the stores reduce prices pretty quickly into the season. Good luck and congratulations on your new job!!!
I do that sometimes, but sometimes I would just like to go shopping and find something that fits right. Besides, some pants wouldn't look right hemmed.
People say that. It has something to do with video and being alone in videos, I think. Though you would think I was a a few inches tall because how big the video is... :) But in real life, I look wayy short.
All teenaged/young adult girls are short here in Canada-land, so buying pants is no problem for me.
However, my style is kinda... I dunno what I'd call it. Grudge? I like my pants a little baggy, I don't mean like, hang past my ass baggy, I just mean long, wide pant-legs. So I just shop for pants in the boys department, anyway. :P
you're lucky you can find pants long enough for you. i'm 5'11 and i've been almost wearing high-waters all my life. at least you have the option of getting yours hemmed, haha. but i still think the makers of pants are all evil so i'm boycotting them for the rest of my life.
But even hemming them doesn't look right sometimes. Everything is in the proportions for taller people. I see "long" pants a lot, are those still not long enough? Like they have regular and long but hardly ever have "short".
Lol I have a bad time trying to find pants too but because I'm like 5'10" and 14 years old I look like a dork because they're too damn short all over the place.

Yeah, I always end up at Old Navy. But they still don't always have short enough things in every type of pants.

why dont you just buy pants that are too long and get them tailored? that seems easiest to me.
InvisibleMirage14 3 years ago
Spending extra money just to get pants to fit? Not easy. They already cost enough to begin with. But my mom will sometimes do it...
