I am shorter than you, and I can totally relate. I can go to most stores, but still run into this problem occassionally. The best thing you could do is make great friends with a tailor. I have Mr. Sammy who makes all my alterations. It costs more, but everything fits. Furthermore, petite clothing ususally costs more anyway.

i'm 5'0 tall and i usually go to the dry cleaners or give my dresses and pants to my grandmother to hem. it's not very expensive either. i'm curious where you live though, because where i live there is usually a petites section in all the young adult and business adult stores with very stylish wear.

I CAN NEVER FIND PANTS THAT FIT!!!! I am the same height as you (5'1 or 5'2... I dunno), and I find it is next to impossible to find pants that fit me length wise. I have pretty much given up and just buy pants at regular stores and then have them hemmed. Sucks, but what can you do? According to the people who make clothes, we're all freaking tall monsters or models or something. Gah!

Recently I have given up and started chopping off my jeans to make them the right length for my legs, think the frayed look is kind of cute. I am from Vancouver and I find that Reitman's/Ricki's and Bluenotes tend to be pretty good for pants... But I am not sure if they have those stores in the states?
