  • I don't mean to be flippant but how come it was two Americans that were killed RIP. Its fine if you have a bit of cop on. You walk one step after the other and watch what you are doing. There are certain areas that you can take pictures but in general you need to just concentrate what you are doing. A fabulous place to visit. The rails are only up to about 30 feet along the walk to the base of the steps. There's no railings along the steps up (thank god) as this would completely spoil it.

  • I just got back from ireland. One of my favorite parts of climbing skeling was the puffins they were everywhere. I was expecting to see more pictures of puffins.

  • Used to listen to this piece all the time, I was in love with it as a child, I dunno why, was just something about it, for some reason I kept having the Unicorn from "The Last Unicorn" in my head galloping around and wondering by a stream when I heard it

  • Beautiful place

  • I hate to hear that people lost their lives, but I'm saddened by the intrusion of handrails on such a spiritual place.

I distinctly recall the incredible rush of making the perilous climb. It is a magical place and I could imagine what it had been like in its day.

  • an american tourist was killed on this climb two months ago and another this weekend. huge uproar about safety. handrails will be added soon and visitors will be screened for suitable attire and fitness.

  • yes duncan there was and joe duffy was discussing it on livelive now i want to go and see our history

  • F*%king Americans! Trust them to ruin such a beautiful thing. Of course its a dangerous place to visit, you are taking a big risk climbing such a thing. Dont climb it if you have a problem with it, handrails DO NOT BELONG THERE!!!!

  • Well, I envy you that! It is an incredible place and my video doesn't even begin to do it justice so you have every reason to be excited. Enjoy your trip.

  • Beautiful.

  • ive been to the skelligs so many times, heaven on earth. majical place. exellent vid.

  • Thank you. Making the videos seemed like the best souvenir and it is very gratifying to have so people enjoy them.

I think it's easy to be homesick for Ireland - even if you aren't from there.

  • What camera are you using, the picture is excellent and do you have a special editing suite on your computer??

  • I have a Canon Elura 100. It's very easy to use and I've been very impressed with the picture quality. It even looks great on our 32" LCD.

For editing I use ULead 11. It has an easy interface, but you can tweak most things to get the more professional quality.

  • Thank you.

  • These are some fantastic videos you have put together it makes me homesick.

  • Was at Portmagee on 11/06, and was very lucky to get some unusually good weather which gave us the chance to make a trip to the Skellig Islands. I feel very blessed to have the once in a lifetime chance to visit this awesome place. We stayed at The Moorings B&B and enjoyed a pint or two of Guinness, great seafood, and some traditional Irish music at The Bridge Bar. Owned by Gerard & Patricia Kennedy, this is by far the best place we stated at on our whole trip! Cant wait to go back!!!!!!

  • We had a few pints at the Bridge Bar as well - it shows up in Chapter 7 of my videos. Some great pub food as well.

We were there early in the season and got lucky with the weather too. I know just what you mean - it isn't too often that you do something that you know will be a singular experience.

We're planning on visiting the Ring of Kerry again. So many beautiful places to see.

  • I WOULD LIKE TO SAY BRILL VIDEO,I HAVE JUST BEEN THERE 27th DEC PORTMAGEE IS A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY I SPENT THE NIGHT AT PORTMAGEE HEIGHTS B&B THIS B&B IS SOMETHING ELSE,I WOULD LIKE TO GIVE A BIG THANKYOU TO MONICA I RATE THIS B&B BIG TIME ANYONE READING THIS YOU MUST STAY THERE 11/10 WHAT A GREAT B&B P.S.THANK YOU MONICA FOR A LOVELY AND PLEASANT TIME AT YOUR B&B YOURS MOST GREATFUL MR&MRS DALRYMPLE

  • Thanks - and I couldn't agree more on Portmagee Heights B&B. We stayed in a lot of nice places on our trip, but that was the highlight. Great room, lovely view, wonderful breakfast and gracious service.

  • Hy!, My name is Alma Judith Avila Lozada, the musical video is Very Gonderful, congratulations!

  • i was there, last week. its really so beautiful! fantastic landscape!

  • Great video of Skellig Michael...good choice of music to accompany the video. Who is singing in the second piece of music?

  • The band is Kila. The track is Maith Dhom from their album Luna Park. Their lead vocalist is Rónán Ó Snodaigh. I do highly recommend the album, but I would note that this track is atypical for them. Most tracks on Luna Park are big full instrumentals that have a celtic heart but lots of other influences as well so they aren't as "traditional".

  • Lucky you had such a calm sea.

    The gulls are Kittiwakes.

  • Way too much emphasis on the seagulls (we can see those anywhere!), but otherwise great. Skellig Michael is such a gem to not only the Irish, but all of humankind.

  • We lingered at the cliffs at the bottom watching the gulls and at the top they were so fearless and photogenic (looking for lunch scraps from tourists - I guess we look GULLable). So they're in lots of footage. Point taken though. First time on vacation with a camera so I learned a lot about what to shoot.

The place is remarkable though. It was a beautiful day so I could easily imagine contemplating the divine from up there - at least until the weather turned and the vikings showed up.

  • i saw dat u mite be visiting the ring of kerry again,if u drop into mannix point,in cahersiveen(the campsite at the end of the town)around august u mite see me there!!cool video, is it dangerous at all??

  • The stairs are steep, there's no rail and it is not a good place for people who are scared of heights, but I wouldn't call it dangerous. Well worth the trip though.

We'll be back there some day, but not soon enough for me. Beautiful country.

  • Very nice work! Can't wait to work with you!
