  • The seats are literally two sofas stuffed between the doors.

  • i love the 1965 Chrysler Imperial my father Restored, it cost a pretty penny.... but it was absolutely worth it. he cannot go anywhere without people wanting to check it out...

  • Who the f is jack Jones

  • i saw that car on the road today

    nice car

  • its a gay, lame commercial........its the "epitome" of disco-era, gay, gut rot sewage

  • Look at the classic lines, the incredible comfortable interior on this stunning powerful automobile, style and class! -- and then look at the cookie cutter dinky euroclones of today .. it's sickening what has happened. The technology of today's cars is great, but there no room in the so-called cars of today.

  • Christ it looks like a funeral limousine

  • Those seats look so comfy

  • @jah2625 On a long trip it's like floating on a cloud.

  • @Geostrategic1 I also saw that around the year of the 95 jeep grand cherokee has leather seats that look like a bunch of soft pillows. If only car seats were made the same way today. Now they all seem to be hard. It's like sitting on rocks.

  • @jah2625 I fully agree. A few high end SUVs have half decent seats, but they are technically trucks. I can't really think of one new average domestic car which has seats most people would want to sit in for a long 'very comfortable' trip. It's all bucket seats today.

  • You fags, please, go ahead buy one of these jalopies. I'll stick w/my Lexus and revel in my douchebaggery and your being stranded on the highway in the Castro District.

  • @SuperLexusman you make such an ignorant fool of yourself, it does not matter what kind of car you drive.... what does matter is how you present yourself to the world... you know as well as i do that this is the only place you can run your mouth the way you do, without consequence.... someday your attitude is going to come full circle and its gonna bite you,... i only wish i could be there to see it, Tough Guy.

  • @SuperLexusman You're out of line. I owned a Lexus LS for several years, and I've owned a few American land yachts as well. They're both good cars when they're properly maintained, and only a moron who doesn't know what's inside either machine would say what you're saying.

You wanna talk about what's gay? You sound like some ditzy woman who drives a Lexus because it has a Lexus badge and for no other reason. God help you if you're actually male.

  • @SuperLexusman Well, you certainly are that!

  • This design was original the Imperial. When Chrysler decided to drop the name, the New Yorker was put in its place. The car was considerably decontented to lower the price. But still a GAWgeous car.

  • This commercial is epic :D!

  • "VACUUM LEAKS" YOU CAN NEVER SOLVE, I STILL LOVE EM'

  • i don't mnd the GAS ,CAUSE i WNT V-8 in a truck or car,not a 4cyl pc of ....

  • I LOVE THESE NEW YORKER models THEY LOOK GREAT

  • I had a 1977 New Yorker, four-door hardtop with the 440, Golden Fawn in color with the gold leather seats. It was a beautiful car, but it was plagued with electrical problems. Still, the style, comfort, and fabulousness of this car made it worth any headaches and gasoline costs.

  • @beyondtheforest ahhhh chryslers plagued with electrical problems....you know it, buddy. That was a Chrysler hallmark "electrical problems"

  • Pero qué comercial tan chingón, todo es bello, el carro el comerrcial, la canción, menos el tipo eh? jaja

  • This New Yorker was the most BEAUTIFUL one ever produced, in my opinion.

    Look at those seats.............WOW!

  • People say how horrible these cars are on gas then replaced them with fullsize suvs which are just as bad.

  • I'm sure it had "Reeech CorINTHian Lea-thur" And of course, a nice reliability score from CR.

  • @SuperLexusman Only dicks buy cars based on what Consumer Reports said. If everyone listened to those guys, we'd all be Honda Accords. CR is best at rating appliances, not cars...never mind, Hondas are one and the same!

  • @ToyKingWonder I pay no attention to Consumer Reports reviews. They gave the 2000 Chevy Prism an excellent rating, in spite of the fact that it has notorious engine problems.

  • @beyondtheforest Great example!

  • The gent defining this vid gayish has an evident lack in knowledge when it comes to marketing especially in temporal context of late ' 70s in relation to mid-high income segment and age span; his views, I'm sure, would shift radically given the infos: unfortunately he will remain at that status 'cause ain't gonna tell unless willin 2 pay 4 the power of information, adios blind man

  • My dad has one of these. It is in mint condition and only has 22000 original miles on it. I always loved riding in it when he would get it out and take us somewhere. So spacious and comfy inside. Like having your living room on wheels.

  • @Broadway30062009

    Continued…

But even the though the car burns a hell of a lot of gas it still beats my prius luxury wise. Even my 2011 BMW 745li. Much smoother than really any modern-day car. I still own it I actually restored it and I got the passenger door fixed up after my friend ripped it off with a tree a year ago. And I drove it from Hamilton Ontario to the Boeing plant in everett washington. everythings original on it. One hell of a nice car ;)

  • @Broadway30062009

Ya my prius is just a commuter car I use it to get from university and back. Good for the city driving

  • Have you noticed how wide full-sized cars were then? I could see the makers losing some of the length but why reduce the width, and the hip/shoulder room in the process? Look at the Pacer; its width wasn't what made it look so ungainly, it was the low beltline and that geodesic dome of a greenhouse that wonked it out.

  • @OldcarsNmusic Width adds greatly to weight. In order to meet more and more stringent fuel economy numbers, big cars like this one had to go. The first downsized Chevy Impala/Caprice introduced in 1977 lost about 1,100 pounds. The Pacer lost for a lot of reasons, its fuel economy never materialized, because of its weight, so much glass meant a hot car unless you bought the optional a/c. The rotory engine was never used so they had to go with a str8 6, that intruded into the passenger area.

  • @OldcarsNmusic And lastly, it had AMC's typical horrible build quality

  • @OldcarsNmusic Your complaint is something my dad always complained about and it is so true. How many cars can three people sit comfortable in the back? I have owned every level of BMW, only our 7 series had a truly roomy back seat that three people could sit in. The 3 series, forget it, the 5 is tight, as are the X cars. Obviously, euro cars were built to accommodate narrow streets, but now all cars are like this. One reason why SUVs were so popular.

  • I rode in one, very nice car

  • gay or not, wish i had that exact car in the garage!

  • Back then, the earlier generations had big American sedans, with a V8, and a ton of room where you could actually stretch your legs out.

My generation has what...Priuses, ricers, and these ugly, underpowered, cramped, plastic subcompacts.

As a 16 year old, I think this is pathetic. I wish we could still make these kind of cars. The last real car like this would be a Chrysler 300C, but that's about it. I'd never buy any of today's shit. The older cars had more class and comfort than today's cars

  • @beatlespersun I'm 18 and I feel pretty much like you. The last real luxury cars were made by Cadillac (1976), Chrysler (1978) and Lincoln (1979) and those cars were so well designed, nowadays cars look like bloated pieces of plastic, thanks to the pedestrian impact regulations and the stupid quest of fuel efficency.

Anyway, there is still hope. As soon as a graduate from university, I'm buying one of these land yachts for sure.

  • @WorstDriver1393 I'm 100% with you dude.

BTW, I forgot to mention this, but on Sept. 15th they stopped production of the Lincoln Town Car & Ford Crown Vic. The St. Thomas factory then was shut down. Very sad :( The Town Cars were great luxury cars in my opinion

  • @WorstDriver1393 stupid quest of fuel efficiency...by Greenpeace

  • @WorstDriver1393 Check out the line I dropped to beatlespersun on the subject- I think you'll like what you read!

  • @OldcarsNmusic Totally agree, if I could trade my altima for a Grand Marquis or a Town Car, I would do it in a heartbeat. But you gotta admit that those cars when new were way too pricey (including the now defunct DTS) it's just when you take a look at the used ones that it is becoming interesting.

  • Comment removed

  • @beatlespersun If my Walter Mitty pipedream comes true, in Spring 2014 there'll be a family of cars that'll have the leg, hip and shoulder room of these old cars without the excessive length. I can't tell you what they'll be called yet because the names aren't trademarked yet, but the top-line model will be so fully-equipped there'll be no options whatsoever. Take notice, Lexus, Infiniti and Acura!

  • @OldcarsNmusic Maybe you could call your car a Pacer? Warning: All your friends will laugh at you. ☺

  • @davidls11 Not a chance- while the concept of the Pacer was brilliant the execution was, as they say, not so much. The wheelbase was four inches shorter than the next-smaller stablemate, the Gremlin, which was the smallest car in the line...rear-seat legroom wasn't much better as a result. The front/rear tracks were the same so rear seat hiproom wasn't much to crow about either. Too much of some things, not enough of others.

  • Chrysler should bring back a New Yorker or an Imperial, especially now that they've reverted to RWD for their large cars. I mean, the 300 is nice, but imagine a slightly longer, more luxurious car built off the same platform....

  • Im not a mopar guy but that is one beautiful car. I miss cars with style. Now a luxury car is a Toyota with leather and some chrome and a Lexus badge PUKE.

  • A classy commercial and an equally classy car. Wish we could turn the clock back to 1977.

  • He's got Justin Bieber's haircut!

  • Its a Couch of Wheels!

  • Perfect in line and proportion!

  • Great voice. Very classy in Black. I liked these 440 broughams way more than the other boats of its time.

  • hey SuperLexusMan I May drive a prius but before I ever owned a japenesse automobile I owned a 1975 Newyorker which I still own today and it's a true American beauty with luxury all around. It dosent need smartkey access or push button ignition and navigation touch screen. Just an old fashion key a wheez of the v8 a black cloud of smoke and your off. I may be a cheap fucker and replaced It with a japenesse hybrid a month after I got my liscence but I still drive this beast every weekend at my 2

  • @IncredableDrE No Japanese car can offer more pure comfort than fullsize American car. There's no Japanese car that has such seats (no, armchairs), no Japanese car can offer so much space, so much style... Japanese cars are for moving around as cheap as possible, classic fullsizes are for riding in style and luxury.

  • @IncredableDrE dont forget that classic chrysler V8 GLUG LUG LUG LUG

  • Hey SuperLexusman, this was a REAL AMERICAN luxury car! I owned a 1977 New Yorker that I would put up against any "glorified Toyota" today! It's just a shame the way our auto industry knuckled under to such foreign "fluff".

  • @SuperLexusman No way. That's the epitome of 70's cool.

  • @seanmc31076 Hear here! As cheesy as the 70's were at times, they were pretty stylish compared to now.

  • @SuperLexusman

Gay? You mean, as in happy and classy, right? Jack Jones has class and this commercial is as gorgeous as this New Yorker. Beautiful song, amazing voice, along with both a proper tuxedo and a proper car. Fantastic. Sad that car commercials are not nearly as beautiful and magic as they once were.

  • @LexusLawyer The cars aren't as beautful or magic either.

  • @SuperLexusman so what?

  • @SuperLexusman You sir lack all forms of class and respectability.

  • @SuperLexusman so YOUR the expert on Gay.. come decorate my house ! just Kidding, I'm gay, but I'm a lousy Decorator, but i guess i am an expert on Assholes... and you sir are Definitely an Authentic Asshole.. with a Better Than Average Chance of being mowed down by a Beautiful Vintage Chrysler New Yorker.

  • @walkingeagle069 From on gay man to another... WELL SAID! I love Chrysler New Yorkers from the 70s (had a '72 when I was a senior in h.s. in 1978) and love ANY year Imperial. GOD I wish they were still made!! I would have bought that instead of a 2009 Mercury Grand Marquis

  • @kerryincolumbus This was the end of the classic era when cars were a pleasure to drive especially if one had a lot of miles ahead.

  • @kerryincolumbus lol, thanks kerry, i love these cars too.. as for "SuperLexusDouche" i don't take this stuff too seriously, i don't usually even Respond to the Haters. but as luck would Have it, i am the Guy that Gets ask to come along if any of my friends (Gay or not) Feel like they might Get Bullied, for one reason or Another. i Always stay sober and speak Smarter than troublemakers, and at 44 i'm Deceptively Strong, if they persist i can just Beat Them to Shit ! (only as a last resort !)

  • @walkingeagle069.... WELL SAID again !!! except for that last line... I'd beat 'em to a shitty pulp FIRST, then ask questions ! (just how I was raised LOL)

  • @kerryincolumbus ROFLMAO !... you're alright in my book Kerry, its too bad you're so far away, i would buy you lunch ! and talk your ear off about Cars ! (i lived in Akron as a Boy, my pop worked for Firestone) IS IT NOT AMAZING ? that little pipsqueaks like "SuperLexusDouche" seem to be under the impression that All gay men are thin, frail, And dress in women's clothing.. my bro works for AT&T and um.. you Can find people. i'm a pretty nice guy, but would Love for that little shit to meet me.

  • @walkingeagle069 .... LOL!!!!!! you're damn funny ! I, too, know a lot about cars, mostly though, just Chryslers and Cadillacs from the mid '50s thru the mid '70s. And just for the record, if ever I were to dress in drag, I'm sure I'd look like Virginia Graham or Ruth Lyons (you're too young to know who they were, suffice it to say they were mean old biddies but, had fabulous talk shows back in the day!) And if you ever DO met up with that "SuperLexusDouche" SOB, I wanna know about it LOL!!

  • @kerryincolumbus hmm, yes Kerry That's Quite Picture you paint (inside my head...) i Am Also A Huge Fan of the Vintage Buick's. (2 weeks ago i spent 2900.00 and got a super clean 1998 Riviera i love it !) Ruth Lyons Retired 4 months before i was Born. but Virginia Graham, was great! - the hostess of an all-girl TV cackleklatsch, slyly eyed her guests of the day as they paced the studio.

"They're smelling each other," she smirked to her producer, "like three bitches at the Westminster dog show."

  • @walkingeagle069 ..... LOL!!! sorry about the bad mental image! Those '98 Rivieras were AWESOME ! I had a '98 one as well.. gray with a gray velour interior.. LOVED that car! Also had a '70 Riviera, with a 455 4 barrel... that damn thing was faster than any cop car!

  • @kerryincolumbus ... CORRECTION.... I had a 1988, not 1998 Riviera...and also a 1970, but, not in that order... I acquired the 1970 from my father in 1982, and the 1988 brand new.

  • @kerryincolumbus lmao ! the Mental image was priceless !.... i tried to buy a 1967 riviera, asking price was 18000.00 i offered twelve. no Deal. but that would have not been a "daily driver". the '98 Riviera is Built on the same Chassis as my fathers 2001 Seville STS, and is a Heavy (4000 lb) powerful, safe, Grand Touring machine, that is a Great Daily Driver. i Drove it to Lake Tahoe a couple of Days ago.. Simply Awesome ! Best daily driver ! (if you do dress as Virginia Graham, post a pic !)

  • @walkingeagle069 ... that '98 Riv sounds AWESOME! Glad it's your daily driver, sounds perfect ! and yes, will post the Virginia Graham pic, if that ever happens LOL!!

  • @walkingeagle069 .... LMAO!!!! the picture of you as a drunk Dolly Parton with a moustache and that itchy wig had me laughing so hard, I had tears in my eyes !! yeah, it's a shame I don't have that 70 Riv, I L O V E D that car! and yup, sent that Lexus-ownin' clown back to the hole he crawled out of... probably some piece of Euro-trash anyway....

  • @kerryincolumbus sorry double post, i thought i lost it, it did not come up for awhile.. at least not on my end ?

  • @kerryincolumbus nah he's american 28, and brain dead ! go back a couple of pages and read my post regarding how proud his folks must be..

  • @walkingeagle069 ....28.... figures... damn know-it-all kids these days!

  • @kerryincolumbus i need to get some pictures of my fathers Restored 1965 Chrysler Imperial.. it's just Beautiful.. he had it out of the garage four or five days ago right after it Rained... the water was Beading up on that fresh, Dark Silver/Charcoal paint.. (custom color, not part of original available colors) it is so Gorgeous.. he spared no expense..

  • @walkingeagle069....... wow NICE!!

  • @kerryincolumbus hey Kerry, does your you-tube (when you play a video) keep Pausing (to buffer) then playing for a bit.. then pausing.. etc. ? i Have AT&T U-verse with a constant 10 Mbps this should not be Happening .. its the bloody youtube, i'm thinking ? (i might have that Halloween pic somewhere... i'll look for it .. if i find it , i'll scan it and post it !)

  • @walkingeagle069 .... nope, my YT hardly ever does that.. however, when it does, I just stop the damn thing, move the bar back to the beginning, wait 5 mins, start it again and it works as it should. would LOVE to see that pic!

  • @kerryincolumbus hmm this is weird ! .. its getting worse... might be a line problem... or modem.. which is only a month old... but its crap, Motorola NVG510 built it for AT&T.. very problematic !.. i guess i'll go picture hunting, while i wait for my brother (the AT&T Tech) it was good talking with you Bro ! ... talk soon, Todd.

  • @walkingeagle069 ...... Hey, was good talking to too, Todd !

  • @walkingeagle069 How about you take a video of it and post it on youtube? We'd all be so grateful!

  • @kerryincolumbus Too bad you don't still have the 1970 455 Riviera i just was looking at a red one in Indiana, selling for 14 thousand.. the 1988 you had was a very well built machine, i was very fond of my neighbors (same model run) it was silver, very attractive car.. So did you notice the Douchebag packed up and left ?.. That's ONE for the Home Team sir ! ( by the way when i was 25, i went as Dolly Parton one Halloween, i kept my mustache.. it was a riot, but wigs make your head itch !)
