Joel Osteen or a no-name preacher...which sermon will nourish your soul?

jesus spoke of being as wise serpents and innocent as doves, in other words be discerning and know that false prophets (teachers) can insinuate their version of the gospel among believers because just enough of the truth is mixed with falsehood that it can mislead true believers. Know the Bible and get armed for (spiritual) battle. Also Jesus said "my people perish for lack of knowledge."

You know, its really too bad we have critics that cannot or refuse to hear when God speaks through someone regardless if his theology is all right or not. The critics cannot eat the chicken and spit the bones out so they just throw it all out and get no food at all. Frankly, I would listen to Joel Osteen and hear God in him before I'd ever listen to the critics. Now yes, I'd love to hear more of Jesus Himself in Osteen's message, but the gift he has is what it is. The critics are overly-narrow.

wow what a difference they are. The other guy totally is on point. Joel is just preaching himself. The other guy is preaching Christ and him crucified as paul would put it.

They're both preaching what the bible says, why are you pitting two good preachers against each other?

Not everyone will preach about heaven and hell, when we've become christians, a sermon on life and death dosent exactly tell us how to live a prosperious life

Really? I hear Joel constantly talking about how you can become a better you. The Bible, which he does not preach from has much less to do with your best you and much more about God's redemption of sinners through the work of the Godman, Christ Jesus. Most of the time, Jesus does not even get honorable mention in Joel's messages. Self improvement- yes, the gospel- no.

Actually you are right, but if you do listen to his Audio he does mention Jesus but not as much....really i just like to read the bible alone and ask the Holy spirit to guide my reading and life.

Maybe i might find my personal Jesus one day.

when joel can't call sin "sin" then there's a serious problem. John, Christ, Paul and every apostle called sin, "sin". This guy is not even a christian "joel that is" Christ said you will know them by there fruits, or words in this case. He proved to be a hiring on the larry king show when he couldnt call homosexuality sin. He fools himself.

Preachers perform for their audience, no matter where that audience is gathered. They say the things that they know their audience will approve of. Nothing inherently wrong with that. Both of the pastors in this video are prime examples of pleasing the audience. "If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." Gal. 1:10

I see God using both preachers to do His work,using them both to reach out to others to know Jesus. Wether u want to believe this or not, millions are coming to Jesus through Joel's ministry as I know many are coming to Christ through 'nobody preacher'. U can't stop what God has started. bzel333, yearn for the God who doesn't want to bash other preachers & put other Godly ministries down that are not exactly like yours nor tries to get a group of others to trash talk & enjoy the negative bashing

I see Satan using Osteen to tickle ears and flatter...not to exhort and rebuke. The gospel, you will recall, is a COMMAND. God isn't saying, "aww, pretty please...I'll give your best life now!" I've listened to as many of Osteens messages as I could stand...sheer cotton candy.

Joel is just in this for the money. How long will it take for his followers to figure out his system doesn't work, it's not biblical. We are not promised a "good life now", it's after we die on earth as it is in heaven.
