Marilyn was so beautiful. I don't care how screwed up she was; she still was a beauty and I know she had a heart of gold under all the problems. *hugs* Marilyn. :)
@lowkeygoddess in the same breath, i like the way she talks for that reason. she's like this special alien girl who came to expose the world and make us all think....
Excuse me, but I have a sort of a dumb question considering how many posts there have been on the extraordinary Marilyn and her grace and talent and so on, both positive and negative opinions, but
I liked Marilyn in "Some Like It Hot" but didn't know much else about her until a curiosity project and some reading. I hear one quote, she hated being a "thing" then hear another, she liked the "attention" was it? or "attraction" whichever, we ladies will always be trinket "things" to most men, it's just a shame it destroys some women, personally I think it should make us stronger :D
@Langdell1989 both R & JFK. kept it all in a diary. When the kennedys abruptly ended the affair, she threatened to go to the press about it and 2 days before she was going to she died. all this info is available on YT vids, books, media etc...
Marilyn was such a tragic beauty. She had everything but what she wanted most in the world---children. They used her until they used her up. I don't believe she committed suicide.

@Tihbialdunav i don't know if you know about Marilyn's life, she was a depressed and emotionally unstable woman, she had a very sad life, the fact she commit suicide doesn't mean she wasn't wise.
@jujukoko for all intents she may as well been haunted to death like an elusive ghost of what actual life should of been, but her handlers staged everything- probably how she died as well. Too sad an ending, r.i.p. Norma Jean.
@Tihbialdunav Uh... actually, if she were a phony- you wouldn't hear her say what you did in the video, darlin'. And I've read countless things about how she was generally afraid of sex. And how could you "sleep around" when you're afraid of sex?
Marilyn's full last interview - which these are excerpts of, was published in the August 17,1962 edition of LIFE magazine, and again in the August 1992 edition. It's a very interesting and insightful interview that could change one's view of her if you ever see the whole thing. It's probably been reprinted other places since then.

@stefanybody On the contrary, I think I do make you feel stupid, and I certainly make you mad. @LateNightCable NO REASON 4ME TO FEEL STUPID, MARILYN WAS IN FACT DIFFRENT U MORON, PROPER GRAMMER DOES NOT MAKE SOMEONE SMART, ANY IDIOT LIKE U CAN SPELL CHECK, IM NOT TRYIN TO IMPRESS PEOPLE ONLINE WITH MY GRAMMER, THATS THE DIFFRENCE BETWEEN US. @LateNightCable HOW DO YOU MAKE ME FEEL STUPID? BY SAYIN MARILYN WAS LIKE PEOPLE OF HER TIME? LOL. ITS OBVIOUS SHE WAS A UNIQUE INDIVIDUAL IN HER DAY AND NOT LIKE THE TYPICAL 1950S WOMAN AND THATS WHY SO MANY PEOPLE TODAY LIKE HER, SO THE IDIOT IS IN FACT U! AND YOUR AN EVEN STUPIDER IDIOT TO TELL THE GUY OF THIS VIDEO THAT THIS IS NOT HER LAST FOOTAGE,IF U HAD A BRAIN U WOULD REALIZE THAT HE MEANT THIS IS PIECES OF HER LAST FOOTAGE BEFORE DEATH, DUM DUM,
AMAZING HOW SMART SHE WAS AND HOW SHE DARED TO BE SEXUAL AND TALK ABOUT SEXUALITY LIKE THAT SO FREELY IN A TIME WERE IT WAS A CONSERVATIVE SOCIETY. IF U PAY ATTENTION TO HER ATTITUDE IT WAS LIKE THE PEOPLE OF TODAY, SHE WAS SO AHEAD OF HER TIME NOT EVEN FUNNY, SHES SO SPECIAL!!!
@stefanybody I wouldn't say her attitude was more like the people of today. A healthy view towards sexuality is timeless, and has always existed, just as the opposite has. But today our society still views sexuality in a very immature way. We've just become more tolerant of having it sold to us through pop culture in a much more overt manner than 50 years ago. We're still repressed today, the standards of good taste have just fallen through the floor.
@LateNightCable YES HER ATTITUDE WAS VERY MUCH MORE LIKE THE PEOPLE OF TODAY , SHE WAS NOT LIKE MOST WOMAN OF THE 1950S WITH RESPECT TO SEXUALITY IS WHAT I MEANT EINSTEIN.. A HEALTHY VIEW TOWARDS SEXUALITY HAS ALWAYS BEEN AROUND BUT NO ONE REALLY FLAUNTED IT BACK THEN LIKE SHE DID,SHE FLAUNTED IT THE WAY WOMEN TODAY DO,AND HER PERSONA SEEMED AHEAD OF HER TIME AS WELL, LIKE IF SHE BELONGED IN A DIFFRENT ERA,HER OVERALL ATTITUDE DID NOT BLEND IN WITH THE TYPICAL WOMEN OF THE 50S
In relation to the music (seeing as it keeps coming up), it's supposed to be disturbing, unsettling and unpleasant. This is from her last interview. It reflects her psychological state in her last days. That's the whole point.
@annielouism Tell the documentary maker that! this is from the documentary marilyn on marilyn. so the interview and music are mixed together. i can't change it!
@annielouism - I disagree about the music being horrible. I think the music is perfect in depicting the mood that Marilyn was in during this interview. She was up and down in her mood, but mostly down. The music is sad and so was she. This was just weeks before she died.
@aiayumi If you have the charm and grace, you can make anyone fall in love with you. You don't need to be beautiful to capture someone's heart. But if you're f*cking ugly, nobody wants to have sex with you. Let's be honest with ourselves, shall we?
@themodel4u Sorry! Tell the documentary maker that! this is from the documentary marilyn on marilyn. so the interview and music are mixed together. i can't change it!
2:35 when she talks about being invited to brighten things up, almost like how a musician plays an instrument for people, it reminded me so much of Geisha.
Present at parties to be beautiful, to entertain, to be a work of art in the flesh. Similar purposes, different cultures. Interesting :)
@theblazingangel The greatest? Far from it. Like many attractive women before her, she devoted her life to inducing men to commit the mortal sin of lust. And so she died as she lived - miserably.
@heidirh You see this is the problem with television shows documentaries etc. they edit what she says. she was not being smug at all she was telling it like it is! also she said about the "foreground & background" and then she said BUT THE MIDDLE IS WHERE YOU LIVE! They didnt play that bit in the documentary only the "foreground & background" bit. yet she said that at the same time. why edit that out???
@SGTG77 Wow -- editing out "the middle is where you live" really changes the meaning of her comments -- actually, it makes the dialogue, in the sequence it's in, into sort of gibberish...
The dialogue sequence in the doc suggests that "foreground & background" refer in a euphemistic way to "tits & ass" & she was bragging that none of the day's actress had physical assets as perfect as her own..
Where do you get the information about dialogue that's been left out of these documentaries?
@SGTG77 "Why edit that out?" Yes, it looks like the maker of this documentary wanted to project an image of pure sexuality. They might have deemed comments about the "meaning of life," such as "the middle is where you live" as somehow boring to their viewers (though, to me that's the most interesting part), or out of the scope of their documentary.
@heidirh I don't believe she was being smug at all. People today have become so politically correct it seems as though we have lost our ability to deduce from what is shtick and what is genuine.
What's so hypocritcal about the World War II generation mentality is they would call this women a slut and masturbate to her pictures behind closed doors. When they found out Princess Diana was in a relationship they did the same thing. Just hypocrisy at its best. It never stops even today with the male bullshit
@captainjinks1 Interesting comment. The part in ur comment where you said everybody now is stupid and makes no sense,is the same thing ppl were saying back then. each generation has something that they dont like about the next. Its a matter of personal preferance i suppose.
Well, it is a universal fact that marilyn had a rather terrible childhood, and being sexy and glamorous as a woman put her in high spirits. Yeah, she might've been considered a "slut" in her generation when things were so conservative- but in our time, she's considered a simply beautiful woman. if she didn't come around, more women today would have trouble understanding how to be sexy. Maybe if she lived in our time she would've gone "further" with her sexuality,
After Richard Meryman interviewed Marilyn he returned the tapes to Marilyn as he had promised, however when Marilyn passed away shortly afterwards Pat Newcomb returned the tapes and three transcripts ( I am proud owner of one of these) back to Richard. there is a documentary on the Meryman interview with photo's by Alan Grant that were used for the Time magazine feature article in Aug 1962. In the interview she is shrewd funny, natural, a little tricky fun, gossipy and mercurial. fascinating gal
I had the privilege of hearing the tapes in their entirety at Richard Merymans home in New York. The interview was recorded in two parts and totals about 4hours. the single thing that stands out in my memory was when marilyn tells him. "I have no regrets, this was my path and I wouldn't have changed it for anything".
@SGTG77 There are lots of domestic interruptions in the interview, the phone rings at one stage, pat Newcombe passes on " he wants to know if you want buttons? Marilyn reply's "No buttons! i want to wear it clingy!' . They have dinner at one point. A famous quote about Marilyn saying "it might be kind of a relief to be finished..." I never heard in the interview and I listened intensely to theses tapes over two days. When I quizzed Richard on this he said that it was said after they taped it.
When you hear her own words, she was so very bright. I dislike the movies that depict her as this broken doll. No matter how bad off she was I dont believe she was ever broken. Her spirit was pure light.
at 3:01 i think he said " if u want yeah" and at 3:04 i think Marilyn said " do u want me to give it to him on the mouth or forehead " and at 3:11 not sure what he says but looks like " i love happy birthday .." maybe they asked if she'd sing it to him or something maybe it was his b-day??? Lol i dunno just guessing
Video not compatible for iPod yet but I know where this is from and what Marilyn would have said in this clip. Probably. Will try watching it later. So sleepy right now plus your other video has made my night. Too hot here in the UK.
@seekah1 Nothing better than hearing marilyn speak for herself. Ah yes marilyn looks amazing there . how about that guy that gets a kiss from marilyn while in bed.

@heidirh I don't believe she was being smug at all. People today have become so politically correct it seems as though we have lost our ability to deduce from what is shtick and what is genuine.

@Lonesomeswan It was actually Bernie Taupin, EJ's original lyricist, that wrote the lyrics to "Candle in the Wind" .

What's so hypocritcal about the World War II generation mentality is they would call this women a slut and masturbate to her pictures behind closed doors. When they found out Princess Diana was in a relationship they did the same thing. Just hypocrisy at its best. It never stops even today with the male bullshit

Ya know despite her oblivious charm, she knew what it was all about.
Everybody now is just oblivious and stupid and has no sense..
captainjinks1 5 months ago
@captainjinks1 Interesting comment. The part in ur comment where you said everybody now is stupid and makes no sense,is the same thing ppl were saying back then. each generation has something that they dont like about the next. Its a matter of personal preferance i suppose.

@hristosanesti

In the interview she is shrewd funny, natural, a little tricky fun, gossipy and mercurial. fascinating gal

she sounded normal... this was Norma Jean speaking about Marilyn Monroe

i wished she talked like "that" during the time she was a star. i really dislike that breathy dumb blonde style voice she faked.
cloudydaiz123 6 months ago 6
I had the privilege of hearing the tapes in their entirety at Richard Merymans home in New York. The interview was recorded in two parts and totals about 4hours. the single thing that stands out in my memory was when marilyn tells him. "I have no regrets, this was my path and I wouldn't have changed it for anything".
RideHanna 6 months ago 4
@RideHanna Do you think the full 4 hours will be made avalible to the public and for all of Marilyn's fans?
SGTG77 6 months ago

Yes, it's a sweet thing to hear her voice. What a dear person. She was All That, and lovable, too.

The background music makes this sound creepy, as if it's foreshadowing her death. It gives me the chills.

Lol i dunno just guessing

Video not compatible for iPod yet but I know where this is from and what Marilyn would have said in this clip. Probably. Will try watching it later. So sleepy right now plus your other video has made my night. Too hot here in the UK.
