thank you for taking the time to upload this video, it was really helpful. i thank God for people like you; God's soldiers whom are trying to help people like me. THANK YOU!
Park your vehicle on level ground (garage will instantaneously appear around your vehicle), block the tires on the opposite end of where you are working....
Reuse the copper washers instead of the copper washers supplied. The new copper washers don't seal worth a shit and this is one reason why to reuse the old washers.
While making it bleed,if any oil comes on to the disc, you are screwed... I'm speaking about bicycles but assuming that they have the same working technicque, just be carefull...
@halfmumi In my situation when this happened I just drove it slightly pushing on the brakes every now and again to get the rotors hot enought to burn off the oil. no probs tho. I suppose it would be more serious on a bike. but i have a jeep grand cherokee.
@Lilmiket1000 Cheers mate. But some oils are really good against heat-corrosion-weather-etc and other resistants\elements. On the bike, (especially bicycles), this can cause serious injury-accident. Best thing is applying special "disc cleaners" over the discs. At least,i used to do this technique for my mountain bike.
This is completely wrong. You do not bleed brakes that do not have ABS anymore. You gravity flush the system with all four calipers off until the fluid is clear. Replace each caliper. And bleed them one at a time, refill fluid. Bleeding the system before a brake flush and you will destroy the master cylinder by injecting dirt and grime into it when applying pressure to the pedal with old fluid. DUMB FUCKING MOVE
@ rupchurc Only if you let all the fluid leak out of the master cylinder. The best way to keep this from happening is to stick a rubber hose into the banjo fitting on the end of the brake line. I flush the brake fluid whenever I do brake work on my cars as old fluid tends to eat away at seals and corrodes lines. The easiest way I've found is with a clear jar 1/2 full of clean brake fluid and a clear nylon hose on the bleeder screw.
No you don't have to bleed the whole system when replacing 1 Caliper. What you can do is.. use a brake pipe clamp on the rubber pipe before undoing the bolt at the end of the hose, this way only a very small amount of fluid will leak from the pipe. Then once everything is connected back up, you just have to clear the small amount of air that will have got into the caliper from the small section of hose to were the clamp was fitted.
Generally no, but only do one side at a time. That way, if you forget how it goes together, you can use the other side as a guide. Disk brakes don't have a lot of parts, but drums do and only doing one can really bail you out if you lose track of anything.
yeah start with the rear one furthest away from the master cylinder then the front one but on the oposite side the repeat the step on the opisite sides hope i helped
I was taking the front caliper off my For Ranger and one of the caliper bolts broke in half while taking it off. I am going to try to drill out the old bolt on the caliper then just buy a new bolt. I hope this works so I do not have to replace the entire caliper. How tight should the caliper bolts be when I put them back on? Thanks
I love the fact you can now watch a video on stuff like this! GREAT VIDEO! Please do not think you could just skip bleeding your break line! You will pay dearly for it in the long run and can cause lots of problems. I have seen guys do this: it is not pretty! Do not buy a car with drum brakes! They are hard as heck to repair or replace. Forget that! You cannot replace them if you cannot get them off the car! 1st time I tried I wanted to scream and hit something! I have all disc now.
Thanks AutoRepairHelp101 folks!
I am confident after watching this that I now can do this.

Dont need to mark the wheels position as the wheel is balanced so it doesn't matter what way you fit it

always replace calipers in pairs
cwolfe45 1 year ago
Do you really need to replace both calipers when only one is leaking? The auto shop said they have to be done in pairs.

@notausertoday
not really, but they're just covering a saftety issue; they don't want to be liable when your other side goes soon after

the inboard pad will be worn more than the outboard pad that shows a draging caliper but it is cheaper to rebuild them than to buy new ones
