  • @jedihunter80 German weren't evil nazi's were the majority of people in the german army didn't know anything about concentration, they didn't even know that some of there uniform was made from the hair of dead jewish prisoners!

  • I undestand the Germans better than I understand the English...and I don't speak a lick of German

  • Great video Eddy. Oh, and I agree about the Pegasus Bridge story being turned into a film. My grandfather (Wagger Thornton) was mentioned in the book for destroying a tank with a piat gun at point blank range. Doesn't bear thinking about. I take my hat off to youself and all who fought.

  • The great historian Stephen Ambrose(he was the main consultant for Private Ryan and Band of Brothers) wrote a great book on Pegasus Bridge. It would make a great movie.

  • I know, I read it. It would indeed make a great movie.

  • Movie ok. This is not a part of the movie "Cap Gris Nez" but from "Cap Blanc Nez". Currahhee !

  • great video, iv got to see 1 of the rail guns, if theres 3 surviveing, where are they, iv searched and carnt fid em, would be nice if 1 of them was in normandy as im going there this summer

  • One complete K5 railwaygun was made from two damaged ones, and remains on display to this day at the United States Army Ordnance Museum located on the Aberdeen grounds. I don't know where the third one is though.

  • Nive vid. Did same trip in 1994 with a camper. No ww2 vehicle unfortuntely.

Met many old soldiers. very interesting to hear their stories.

  • The landingcraft seen in the scene from Saving Private Ryan can now be seen at that museum, Le Grand Bunker. The one used in the movie was actually used in the war.

  • When we were at "Le Grand Bunker" in Ouisterham there was a chap in a wheelchair in the entrance hall, telling the story of what he had done 40 years ago....

he was 1 of the 2 men blowing the door of the entrance to the bunker.

Several wheeks later i heard (do not know if it's true) he died.

  • Oh cool! What a coïncidence meeting him at that place. I hope he didn't die but the veterans are at that age now.

  • oops... typo.... must be 60 years ago

  • Your very lucky to live within a days trip of Normandy. It would take me plane trip to get there. Cool that you went though. Good video

  • Thanks. Yeah I drove back alone and it took me 8 hours to get from Normandy to my home in the north of the Netherlands. Mind you I was over the speedlimits almost all the time :)

  • Who obey's the speed limit anyway?

  • Very true.

  • Enjoy my vid about the d day on omaha beach. With the awsome song brothers in arms. Check it out! XD

  • thanks for showing this because my great grandpa was stationed at one of those bunkers unforunatley he was a german but he said he killed no one because he escaped and ran far away but thanks god bless you all

  • Thanks for your comment. I guess your grandpa did the right thing because I don't think he would have survived had he stayed there. But I wonder how he could have run away because then his comrades would have shot him as a deserter. Anyway, good thing he survived.

    Eddy (Raffy2006)

  • it was only the ss that shot their own men

  • I want to thank you for posting this. As many Americans, I had a grandfather and great-uncles from the other side of the family who landed there that day. All survived. Really, you did a fantastic job. It's odd how close the real structures are to what has been portrayed in movies like "The Longest Day". I recognized the Pegasus Bridge immediately as where the English commandos landed. Thank You.

  • You're welcome. It was a fantastic trip and sometimes it was like stepping through a timegate because it was all WW-2 vehicles and people in uniform. It was great.

    Thanks for your comment.

    Eddy (raffy2006)

  • your welcome

  • did you ship your jeep to france ? if so how much did it cost you

  • Well, as you can see in the video, we put the jeep on a trailer and pulled it with the campervan to France. I think it cost about a third more in petrol and the trailer was rented but I don't know the costs involved.

  • saving private ryan made the best d day video ever

  • i was in normandy at omaha beach the 4,5 and 6 june 2004!!!

  • Why didn't you stop by for a drink? Ahwell maybe next year ^_^

  • The German High Command did not know that Normandy would be the exact spot. British and American intelligence had fooled them into thinking the attack would be somewhere else. Besides, I think we'd be talking russian, not german if it hadn't been for D-Day

  • That's true. The Russians would have overrun the whole of europe. Thank god they didn't get the chance.

  • saving private ryan lol nice

  • Does anyone ever wonder why Normady wasnt as heavily defended as it should have been? They knew the attack was coming. Most of you people have no idea what WW2 was really about.

  • They didn't know it was going to be in Normandy though. And to build super defences all along the coastline is a gigantuan task even if you use slave labour.

  • They knew Normandy was the spot

  • Well i guess by the time they found out it was too late anyway. Thank god or I'd be speaking german.

  • yeah the Germans knew it yeah , but thet thought it would be at calais , not at the beaches , omaha utah gold and juno

  • ownd

  • yes i want to go to normandy too and imagin d day but i got no money.shit!

  • Hmmm same here.

  • @DJDiscJokey As Tom Hanks said in Saving private Ryan: "Earn it " :p

  • great stuff thanks

  • fuck i want to go to normandy

  • I live in holland :D

and no we are not good in cheese only

  • Amen to that my fellow countryman/woman. ;-)

  • Christ! Don't you people ever get tired of posting that shit? or give up? I take it you hijacked this persons account

  • je suis originaire du pas de calais, j'habitais au cap gris nez.

Belle vidéo n'oublions pas le jour J et la seconde guerre

I am originating in Pas-de-Calais, I lived with Cap gris nez

    great video don't forget D-day and WW2

  • Thank you for your comment. You live in a beautiful country and I will certainly visit again sometime.

  • Déjà on écrit Calais avec 1 "L" et s'est pas le Cap gris nez ou on voit des planeurs mais le Cap Blanc nez....

  • Well, I'm sorry for the writing errors. You forgot to mention that Oiustreham has a U in it. LOL

  • on voit des planeurs du cap gris nez... Sorry !!!! Ils se jetent du haut de la falaise à coté de la sirène...

  • Very nice video. It warms my heart to know that people still remember and are thankful for the sacrifices made by all the allied soldiers there. Brits, Americans, Canadians, French and many others. I have relatives buried at Normany.

  • Oh yes, we won't ever forget what the allies did for us.

You can see a bit more on my new channel. (click on my name) Eddy (Raffy2006)

  • Yup! If it`s in Ouistreham, it`s Le Grand Bunker. German headquarters, covering the river Orne and the Canal. Nice Liberator by the way...got one myself, but in civilian outfit.

  • Cool!! My brothers Harley is now all stripped down for total revision.

  • Hey! Isn`t that the great bunker of the Atlantik Wall? Was there a few years ago.....nice museum

  • Well, I don't know if it's THE great bunker, but it is possible. It was certainly a very big bunker and a great museum. Raffy2006

  • EddyBergman is my new channel name btw.

  • nice video

  • dude... i dream i could do that trip ... awesome ...

  • WOnderfull, well done.

  • Thanks for sharing im planning a trip myself just to pay my respects to the people that lost there lives fighting for our freedom today.

  • That's a good reason to go there.

  • yeah i went out there to Normandy in '01...went to Point Du Hoc and such. omaha beach. Great trip.Great. Recomend highly. great video. I love vets

  • nice....must've been quite a feeling. overwhelming, i'd wager

  • Yeah it was pretty cool. We were at Vierville sur Mer at some point and it was all people in uniform. Not a civilian in sight. I thought I'd stepped through a timegate and landed back in WW-2. Soooo cool. Go if you ever get the chance.

  • Cool video. Really interesting. I didn't realise that the big railway guns were still there. I like the old vehicles too.

  • nice.. i wish i could do that trip
