  • doesn't it look way overstretched with a projector? and you have a vga connection on your projector I assume?

  • @drunkensailor112 It is not stretched at all, the projector has settings for 16x9 and 4x3 aspect ratios. And yes the projector has vga input. It looks amazing; the best the dreamcast can put out. Obviously an HD source with an HD projector would be ever clearer and better, but it is stil fantastic. Movies and tv shows are awqesome on this thing too.

  • @duhmez holy crap man. long time ago a friend told me consoles looked best on projectors back then. knowing now that you can actually output vga on projector I REALLY want one. what can you advise me?

  • @drunkensailor112 most consoles cannot output vga; the dreamcast can and so can old xbox 360. But that is OK it is fantastic with component cables or HDMI as well. I can advise you to get a "theatre" projector, one that has a native 16:9 pixel ratio. So avoid one that is like 800x600 or 1024x768. Try to get one 720p or 1080p widescreen. Also make sure it has vga if u wanna use dreamcast this way obviously.

  • eek lsd flashback

  • never use the yellow, lol thats funny''I recently got back into the dreamcast & have been using the dreaded yellow cable''lol but it looks great on my 32'' Dynex Lcd but wanna get into a VGA Box or the new cable I saw with S video''and ya I never saw a Vga to Hdmi Until my friend from verizon gave it to me'thanx for ya info and video demo''

  • me again, what it is the best connection out of the vga ? s video, only cause my friend gave me a cable, that is vga on one end and hdmi at the other ? never saw one of theese before, the manual on the tv says hdmi is a better conection to hook up a PC THAN VGA

  • @evelskunny If it is S video, then yes it will be a huge improvement. S video will have somehtinglike 4 little pins and a plastic chunk. Much better than the yellow, never ever use the yelolow video cable.

  • @evelskunny Ive never seen vga to hdmi before, but if it works go ahead and use that. Being that it is converted to hdmi, it may be not quite as good as straight vga, who knows I've never heard of that.

  • @duhmez The only reasno to use the yelow is if u r poor and tv has no yellow.

  • one more question,i just saw a dreamcast av cable''that has s video on it besides the red white yellow, would that upgrade the pic with out the vga box ? its only 7.95$ might be worth a try im guessing, and to just have an extra cable

  • this works on any flat lcd tv ? wow!

  • @evelskunny Indeed it does work on most any tv now, they sually have a vga input. Works even better on a CRT pc monitor. Absolute best picture quality that way.

  • i bought one of these recently (same unit, different branding etc, the video of it is on my channel) the quality the dreamcast outputs at vga is awesome, but i have to say the actual build quality of the vga box is pretty poor! :( red light looks cool in the dark though!

  • Wow now im gona buy a projector no doubt

  • @coverfire32 Projector is awesome. I quit using television 3 years ago now my bulb is still good. I have a spare bulb ready to go make sure you get a spae as soon as u can afford, so when it pops u can get up and running right away cause rdering a new bulb can take some time depending. Also black out the room with black curtains, or garbage bags, or whatever u gotta do, so u can use during the day.

  • Im pretty sure you can patch the games that don't support VGA.I know theres a trick to get em to work that involves switching the vga box right after the DC logo finishes, but Im pretty sure theres patches.Ive got Ikaruga on myu Xbox, I was playing it yesterday:)Getting myself hyped :)

  • how do 2d games look like this? Really pixellated?CVS 2 looks horrible on my BC PS3, unplayable really.

  • @endoes07 If you suggest any particular 2d game, I will test it and get back to you. I did play several 2d shmups and they were awesome. But kind of 3d too maybe though. Suggest me a game and I'll test!

  • @duhmez

Capcom VS SNK 2 would be great, or any 2d Capcom fighter. I just ordered a Dreamcast and VGA cable. Cant wait, Im actually looking forward to it more than I look forward to PS3 or Xbox games. I'm putting it into a Namco Exceleena arcade cab, which im refurbing at the moment.:)

  • @endoes07 Don't forget to get an S video cable too! If a game doesn't support VGA you must manually hit a switch on the vga box to output S video. The S video plugs right into the vga box and out to your tv. And get a Y audio splitter to get audio out of the box. Like soundcard conector on one side and RCA jacks out the back. I ws just playing some Ikaruga the other day on the dreamcast 8 foot wide screen was incredible. Get yourself Ikaruga for sure!

  • Would you be able to connect this to a VGA to HDMI convertor?

  • @videogameobsession it does not have VGA output; it has standard composite (yellow white red), USB, and HDMI. So anything you can do with composite and HDMI output u can do with this.

  • can you use the VGA output for video and RCA white and red jacks for the sound? if not, how am i supposed to have VGA picture and surround sound?

  • @sillydillydokieo yes you can. Stereo audio no problem. IMO if you are going to use retro console games on the native hardware, it is our duty as colectoras and gamers to maximise the quality. If yuo use a SNES for example, USE S-video with it! Gamecube S video works on a snes!

  • @duhmez If you want max quality on the SNES (or Gen, Neo-Geo, etc..) you should look into

SCART cables that support true RGB output. They would provide the best video quality you can achieve on those older systems.

Much better than svideo (especially on an HDTVs)

  • @videogameobsession Hey now. Does it exist an RGB scart cable for USA/Canada Snes? IN addition from what I've seen it can be very expensive to have a scart>component or scart> RGB VGA adapter that has SOUND passthrough. In other words if it exists how would I achieve sound with this thing plugged in?

  • That projector is fuckin sweet as.

  • @PSI236 It's awesome. I alredy bought a replacement bulb too, I have put about 2500 hours on it and it's rated for only 2000. 2 and 1/2 years. So I Probaly got another 2-3 years worth of the next bulb too before i upgrade to a newer model with HDMI. I read the specs for the projector and it is a 480p widescreen projector. Not HD but still loks amazing for such cheap price. TV and movies on it is so great. I put blackout curtains everywhere to keep room black even duing summer days.

  • @PSI236 And in addition, I did not have to buy a screen because the wall is white! And the room is big so the screen is about 10 feet. Wide or diagonal 10 feet, though ive not actually measured. The manual says 3 meters from the wall will make a 10 foot screen.

  • @duhmez I would buzz off it. Thinking of getting one for my own place actually.

  • Lol, mate, you're a trip... very funny :-)

  • @utopiaopera I/m glad you like it. If yu enjoy this, I'm sure you will enjoy my other vids. Subscribe and check it out if you've not already!

  • lmao dude were u buzz making this vid? funny vid, u should make more like this.

  • @Oni64 I'm very pleased that you liked it. I will try to continue to make my videos entertaining. I threw a few subtle jokes in my SNES POWERPACK review too, if you check that out and watch it through I think you wil have a good laugh. And it is informative too.

  • Yeah i have one of these. Unfortunately it doesn't work on my tv. I should get a projector.
