This boat is for all intents and purposes used to test out stealth technology, fuel conservation, and the next generation of Landing Craft boats. Although this program and that off its sister ship was canceled last year due to its skyrocketing cost. The navy also states they have learned all they can about the technology. In fact the modern Swedish and Dutch Frigates incorporate alot of this slanted hull/rader reducing alloyes in its hull. US Navy didn't like the lack of armament, armor, & space
LOL.....Fuk funding this prodject fund the railgun...LOL...There the new MWD...We could fire a Nuclear Missle past Mach-6..Thats 6x the speed of sound...LOL what anti-misssle could fuking hit that..
@thelilja5 Its not so much the waves, as the noise made by the waterjets, which are LOUDER THAN ALL HELL to a submarine. Add that to a squishy, flammable Aluminium hull and what you have here is a pretty target.
@SteamboatWilley well I think that for this ship is probable that will operate in shallow waters where options of submarines are limited especially against US navy. But missiles like RKV 500B with optoelectronical mode of homing or 4K44 with accept targeting inputs from UAVs can attack ships like this relatively easily.
@ygz1ygz lol Umad bro? get madder muslim retard. allah doesnt exist! :) and BTW the GERMAN people want the disgusting turkish out of their country (SOURCE, all the Germans i've talked to)
If you knew anything, Hitler was killing everyone but muslims. And Allah means god in arabic language. And if u dont believe in god, I suggest you start at some point.
If that's your will of thinking, I respect it. I just dont see why it bothers people who dont believe in god for those who do believe in him. If someone chooses to believe in something, it doesnt have to be god, w.e. it is, have some decency and respect it. Just the way i respect you if you dont believe it. Its ur choice, and this is mine. RESPECT!
@tweetytime1 of course a disproportionate amount of taxes go towards military expenditures simply because roads and schools are much cheaper than fighter planes and nuclear reactor powered submarines
The LCS designation is a bit ambitious. This light frigate is a purpose built Specops tool so don't expect to see too many of them. Essentially this is a fast deployment vessel that was built around a Helicopter hanger with seal teams in mind and not really expected to go into naval combat.
@yosecretsquirrel Corvette is a better term. our smallest frigate is twice as big as this lol...but i agree with you on the special ops thingy...what else would they do with a 704 million dollar "shallow water" speed boat with a 57mm on it? lol
@Ybenasty Aussie Austal Corperation engineers designed the trimaran hull, while American General Dynamics engineers designed the superstructure and weapons systems, the Swedish SAAB made the radar, all assembled in Alabama USA :)
I like the Oliver Hazard Perry class Frigates better then this new design, they at least look like a small fighting ship even with the older missile launchers removed. The Freedom Class LCS-1 is also better looking, but I am anxious to see which one of these 2 class's end up with a better record of deployment. Looks aren't even a concern I know, but come on a ship could look tough even it it's a tiny Frigate or Littoral Combat Ship.
@vulpixgrant Yeah i miss the Hazard class -_- if an Independence class and a Hazard class had a WW2 style slug fest with guns, the Hazard would surely win because it has steel armor and 76mm gun instead of this thingy with its aluminum armor and 57mm LOL
@vulpixgrant Also the Government (the big piece of shit) CLOSED DOWN Todd Shipyards in California!!! thats where the Hazard class was built! major loss of American industry and jobs ;(
They copied this design from a car ferry ferry from Los Cristianos in Tenerife, the Benchijigua Express, which has a much nicer colour scheme.I like the tennis court on the back though.A bit of tennis in between manovers.nice touch .If yez ever break down, give us a call here in Tenerife and we will let our boys fix it for you. :)
For those doubting this is real. It is real. It is part of the Littoral Combat Ship program, and its sister ship, the U.S.S. Freedom, is a different hull design. The two ship designs are competing against each other for the fate of the program.
@JetMechMA its real, look closely at the textures, they're not fake or computer model made. Also, at 0:28, notice at the right of the screen the grey "wall". It's clearly video footage being taken from a helicopter. I think its real.
Too specialized and not that useful. Sure it can get close into shore, but that leaves it vulnerable to all manner of ground attack. Unless it's a minesweeper/layer or can land loads of troops, it's pretty useless.
@dzuari 009SoundSystem paid me to choose one of their clips. This was the best one for the minute long video. Pay me more, and I'll change it to whatever you like. Otherwise, press mute and listen to something off of your Zune.

On another note, every countries economy has been and will continue to go to shit for a while yet, its called a depression, and it doesn't just magically appear and disappear like your failed intellect and schooling may want you to believe.
@android125 its just how big the boat and ocean are that make it look slow. its like when youre on the ground looking at an airplane far away that looks like it is floating
The precursor of The Shape of Things to Come. If they're successful, they'll grow some of them up, and you'll have a smaller version of an Aegis class cruiser with missile tubes all in a row. That's not a bad place for taxpayers to throw money. The bang-for-buck is awesome. Surface, sub-surface, land, and air targets...simultaneously. Really the only thing you'd have to do some engineering on would be to add a pop-up CIWS. Awesome.
@DaddySir87 It's not supposed to be one of those ships that goes toe to toe with other ships or hunt subs, although it can. It's meant to be a ship that goes in and deploys SWCC/SEAL teams among other things. It's strength lies in it's versatility as it can carry different modules for different missions that require a fast response.
Just like anything new it's a ship that's gonna be tweaked on as time goes by to meet whatever demands the Navy will have in the future.
What I find REALLY annoying about the whole LCS program is that it is meant to replace the Oliver Hazard Perry class frigate with another frigate the doesn't have anything like the on-deck capability that the Perry has. It has no torpedoes, no VLS, only a (rather nice) new gun and a SeaRAM launcher, but fast. It has shorter range, and, if the helicopters are away, can't even fufill the major role of the OHPs, ASW. I don't think it has a towed array, but at 40 knots, it doesn't matter anyway.
@macfanpro It is not meant to replce the Oliver Hazard Perry Class. You say it doesn't have anything like the OHP class then you name torps and VLS. OHP class never had VLS, they used to have a Mk 13 Missile Launcher but all of them were disabled years ago. It is still a new program but the plan is it will have torps when fitted for ASW and it will also have the NLOS missile, something the OHP class never had (SUW Missile). It has a longer range when using diesels.
@cydonia21 The Aus. ones do, after replacing the Mk 13 at great cost, which I think was a better idea then just pulling the Mk 13 and filling in the hole, and as this is a new class of ship, a VLS would be much cheaper to add then what the Australians did. All of the things I mentioned are on the export proposal, as well as some insane stuff, but the more sensible things I mentioned are there. I haven't heard about a torpedo launcher on it, do you have a source?
@cydonia21 Oh, another thing I was thinking of to increase capability would be to add back the ASM launcher that the OHP lost with the removal of the Mk 13. NLOS was canceled, but 4 harpoon tubes would do nicely.
@macfanpro Griffin(joint army) was cancelled but NLOS is not. There has been some future chatter about a LCS with VLS (located in the deck where the DLS is located). It would be a limited number of tubes (4 on each side) General Dynamics actually made some sketches of it and were showing them at conventions. Big problem is weight. Second problem is cost/crew support.
@ShinyHagge Not finding it has a simple reason: it won't be "there" in the action. I mean, Sweden has instruments of warfare? For what? You'll stay neutral in every conflict anyway, as usual.
@2010Reilly Wide for stability, low draft, and to support its large mission bay and helo deck. Yes, also stealthy but thats due more to the lack of crap attached to it then the idea that they are going to make the stealthiest ship ever. The Hull is aluminium to 1. prevent corrosion and 2. Super light weight for low draft.
Barracuda Torpedo , built by the Germans , it cost 1/100000 of this ship and could it kill it in no time and no one got an answer to it , how about that for kicking ass
@tony38727 Ineutral in WW1 and WW2 yes, they've been in Afghanistan since 2001 and where also in Libya.
They have a very small but incredibly advanced military, might be worth doing your research before making sarcastic comments and making yourself look silly ;)
@tony38727 What does that have to do with the price of cheese? They don't have people flyinig planes into buildings either, doesn't stop them having an advanced military now does it?
Her keel was laid down on 2 June 2005 at Marinette Marine, Marinette, Wisconsin.[22] The contract to build the ship was managed by Lockheed's Maritime Systems and Sensors (MS2) division, directed by Fred Moosally.[14] On 23 September 2006, LCS-1 was christened and launched at the Marinette Marine shipyard.[23] On 19 January 2006, the keel for the General Dynamics trimaran, USS Independence (LCS-2), was laid at the Austal USA shipyards in Mobile, Alabama. LCS-2 was launched 30 April 2008.
Designed by the US Navy, built by Austal Ships, an Australian company. The first of them was built in Henderson, Western Australia, but the rest were built at Austal's Hawaiian shipyards

@noobrider100 A country that is neutral in every war creating weapons of their own?
tony38727 1 week ago
@tony38727 Neutrality doesnt protect you from agression. Si vis pacem, para bellum!
schwarzie2k 1 week ago
@tony38727 Ineutral in WW1 and WW2 yes, they've been in Afghanistan since 2001 and where also in Libya.
They have a very small but incredibly advanced military, might be worth doing your research before making sarcastic comments and making yourself look silly ;)
noobrider100 1 week ago
@noobrider100 That's stupid then why do they have muslim extremists running rampant on their streets?
tony38727 1 week ago

Why don't they put the bridge in the center of the ship, so it can't be destroyed so easily?
williebruciestewie 1 week ago
@williebruciestewie Navigation bridge is on the top where it should be, the weapon systems center is in the center of the ship.
Sea ships will always have a bridge on the ships with windows. small wooden boats do not appear on radar. they always need lookouts.
Even if they create a navel version of "DAS" they will need a upper bridge in case it goes down.
It may happen but not in our lifetime.
