Just to help everyone understand the colour difference. The Sanyo seems to automatically put more contrast into it's image to make it appear more vibrant.
In a way that makes it look better, but if you prefer to do your own colour adjustments (grading, contrasts saturations etc.) The Sony's more flat image is FAR better for that.
Don't get me wrong you can still do that with the Sanyo, but you get better results starting with a 'flat' image.
in low lighting i still havent found a camcorder that out dose a sony! i just got the sanyo last week and i luv the way it handles! ill be posting soon!
im gettin the sony today, it looks a lot better than the sanyo. looks like the sanyo was a little slow adjusting to the lighting, and the sony clip looks so much more stable then the sanyo. i think the sony looks like the all around better camera.
I have a dcr-sr47 and have the option to buy one of these for 200 bucks. i think i should grab it considering its HD and lots of other videos it seems pretty clear
yeah, the sanyo has some problems in the dark. but I never record at night, so I'll get the sanyo. thanks, that was the best use of camcorders review I've ever seen.
I bought the Sony today, but just found this vid. Is the Sanyo HDD also? And is the Sony set on its highest quality recording or is that the standard setting?
The sanyo is not HDD. It uses SDHC cards (the max right now is 32GB). They are both recording straight out of the box, no adjustments except I made the sanyo settings the same as the sony. Sanyo is High Def up to 720p. Also less than half of the sony cost.
I should learn to read your description before asking haha, sorry. I got my Sony one however and I love it. I can see the saturation differnce however, but i fixed it by messing with some settings in the camera. I was about to buy a memory stick camera but that would be expensive and a pain for me, im a film maker so we go through hours of footage everyday, plus the sony offers a memory stick slot for more room. Sucks its not HD, but i cant afford a pricy camera at the moment ithink its worth it
that's pretty cool. I went to a highschool that the greyhound was the mascot. I don't think we ever did have a real greyhound though...lol...thanks for the review by the way...
Can u tell me which one u prefer, Sony dcr-sr47 has 60x but is it really worth 60x. but sanyo can run also in 1280 x 720,which one iof i`m gong to travel and take family and is sanyo screen touch?
I prefer the sanyo cause of the option to record in high def or regular. Plus it has 30X zoom, which is respectable compared to most others. The 60X zoom is only good for bird watching, etc and is not used very often, in my opinion. The sanyo is not touch screen but the menu is not complicated at all. It also has more features than the sony like face recognition and wind noise reduction. The sanyo has longer battery life, better color saturation and cost only $199 compared to $459 for the sony.

it is difficult to compare two devices that have different settings. in the dusk, the Sony seems better restore the brightness.

The autofocus on the Sanyo is much better as well. The Sony took a good three seconds longer to focus in the bathroom.
