Awesome stuff! I still bust out my (purchased yay!) copies of Umop Apisdn and Visit the Entropics! for some old school synth love! Hurry up on a another CD David!
I wish video games still used synth rock like in the late 80's early 90's. This reminds me of the intense nostalgic feeling I get from game soundtracks like Thunder Force IV/Lightening Force. Brilliant stuff, my man.
The soloing from about 2:30 to 3:00 is some sort of Möbius-Wakeman thing and really rather neat. I'm digging the hypnotic main riff on the JD-800 too!
A teacher told me once "I can teach you to play like that in a year". I tough: a year is way too much time. That was 14 yeasr ago and I still trying to learn to play like that.
i'm only 1:50 into the video, i haven't seen anything excruciatingly difficult. long as you know your scales i bet you could play it xD probably play it better than i could since i've never been officially taught...... so i'm at that disadvantage :( can't afford lessons.
loved the way you seemed to use keyboard as a guitar solo. Like seriously. People are always paying attention to the guitar solos. What about the keyboard solos??? GOOD JOB. AWESOME.
FYI: Jordan Rudess sounds like YOU on Dream Theaters newest record. Thought I'd let you know. He's used several very very old sounding analog sounds... almost like an 8-bit or something. I don't know synths, but some of his leads sound like what I've heard come from your original music this go round.
Man, I use to say that fast notes for free is a pin in the ass. Here, you show how fast notes can be intersting if used with good taste. And you paly like it would be the easyest thing in the world! Fantastic job, dude! I added in my favourites list to study you! Very well balanced Emerson/Wakeman/Rudess influences, but with a lot of personality! Just great!
Do you take offense in people saying that parts of your songs sound like their from a video game? :27 -:45 sounds like something from the Sega Genesis game "Gunstar heroes". Great playing and great song none the less!
Great old school prog for ya. I wish there were more keyboardists out there that could put out great original work like this in the current prog/prog-metal scene.
Thanks... it's a cheat scale at that point... full-step hexatonic BS. C, D, E, F#, G#, A#. Check it out, I use it in a few other tunes (the Leper, notably).
Have you ever thought of doing any acoustic piano original pieces? you would be great at hand over hand stuff on 88 keys (linear keys haha) which is what im learning right now... The appregiations from 2:30 to 3:00 would make an awesome track on their own! its the other very repetitive riff that sounds like dream theater... but those 30 seconds that i picked out sound more like matt bellamy from MUSE (who is a better pianist than anyone from dream theater in my personal opinion) great work!
