  • nice man!

  • It's cool!

  • Awesome stuff! I still bust out my (purchased yay!) copies of Umop Apisdn and Visit the Entropics! for some old school synth love! Hurry up on a another CD David!

  • You pretentious bastard. At least you're good.

  • @AssassinTheHasson How is he pretentious? He's doing whatever the fuck he wants, without dickwaving.

  • me and my friends are stoned and we want you to make a CD.

  • me and my friends are stoned and we want you to make a CD.

  • tron music ?

  • 2:38 on is my favorite :) tocatta and fugue style

  • ure making music with BLAST PROCESSING

  • @cLaRkDamn LOL!!!

  • Same hexatonic BS used at 1:20

  • please can you tell what scale your using at about 2:57 because it sounds absolutely amazing!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I wish video games still used synth rock like in the late 80's early 90's. This reminds me of the intense nostalgic feeling I get from game soundtracks like Thunder Force IV/Lightening Force. Brilliant stuff, my man.

  • any chance you could tell me the scale you use at 2:58 because it sounds absolutely amazing as does the rest of your song.

  • The soloing from about 2:30 to 3:00 is some sort of Möbius-Wakeman thing and really rather neat. I'm digging the hypnotic main riff on the JD-800 too!

  • kinda sounds like neal morse

  • White V-Synth brought to you by FORAT. lol

  • its totally lydian mode on the keys. cool stuff!

  • why are you so cool?

  • do you do all of your loops inside the keyboards or do you use a computer as well?

  • I'm just in awe. Well done mate. Have you ever had a chance to play with a Birotron?

  • Rad.

  • A teacher told me once "I can teach you to play like that in a year". I tough: a year is way too much time. That was 14 yeasr ago and I still trying to learn to play like that.

  • i'm only 1:50 into the video, i haven't seen anything excruciatingly difficult. long as you know your scales i bet you could play it xD probably play it better than i could since i've never been officially taught...... so i'm at that disadvantage :( can't afford lessons.

  • @vjrei

Dedication and diligence will get you places.

  • This is pure awesome of the highest accord. :D

For some reason it reminds me of Mr Scruff's Mice at the Organ, but its waaaay better =]

  • Do you sell your music or can i get it anywhere? i'd buy this, you could be making big bucks.

  • loved the way you seemed to use keyboard as a guitar solo. Like seriously. People are always paying attention to the guitar solos. What about the keyboard solos??? GOOD JOB. AWESOME.

  • FYI: Jordan Rudess sounds like YOU on Dream Theaters newest record. Thought I'd let you know. He's used several very very old sounding analog sounds... almost like an 8-bit or something. I don't know synths, but some of his leads sound like what I've heard come from your original music this go round.

  • Moog little Phatty?

  • One of them happens to be an iPhone. Yep. Weird

  • Yeah, the JD-800!

Crazy prog stuff, love it. 8D

  • Man, I use to say that fast notes for free is a pin in the ass. Here, you show how fast notes can be intersting if used with good taste. And you paly like it would be the easyest thing in the world! Fantastic job, dude! I added in my favourites list to study you! Very well balanced Emerson/Wakeman/Rudess influences, but with a lot of personality! Just great!

  • You should put this on your website. I'd buy this track for sure.

  • u should start posting tutorials

  • those whole tones you were using at 1:21 were great. other worldly.

  • you should do mission impossible

  • Well I'm getting married soon, does that count?

  • Oh yes.

  • You have to play the keytar while walking up the isle. :D

  • Grats! ^^

  • I think we should both have keytars while walking down the aisle with Elvis.

  • I have a question, is there a recording of this song laying around somewhere?

You said it was un-released, but I was thinking it would be nice to have with the rest of your music i regularly listen too?

  • that is awesome sounding, with the weird scales, by the way what scales was that song using?

  • I'm envious of that white V-synth

  • Wow imagine if all that awesomeness translated DIRECTLY into money and chicks. Scratch chicks, I meant synths. Just more synths.

  • Fucking hell, thats the cheesiest comment I have ever seen!

  • Goddamn, give me lessons! :P

  • cool piece!

  • Do you take offense in people saying that parts of your songs sound like their from a video game? :27 -:45 sounds like something from the Sega Genesis game "Gunstar heroes". Great playing and great song none the less!

  • And from 0:45 to 1:00 remind me to Red Alert, with the Aaah's (:

  • well my head didnt explode. but i pulled my shoulder. arsehole >:0

  • Good thing I wore a footbal helmet while watching this- my head did NOT explode !!!

  • Great!

  • you should send a letter to yngwie and say you wanna take Sherinian's spot on tour!

  • Dude, that KICKS ASS! Very cool!

  • 3:03 - 3:19 is especially tasty.

Great old school prog for ya. I wish there were more keyboardists out there that could put out great original work like this in the current prog/prog-metal scene.

  • Cheese and rice that's some FAST playing. How do you keep your fingers from flying off? Unbelievable!

  • his hands look like spiders!! SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET

  • spider hands you say....hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • What can you tell me about the JD-800? I've seen a few of your videos, and I think it sounds kinda cool

  • Those sweep arpeggios kicked me right in the taint! LOL

  • you should make video game music!

  • Yeah this sounds like some old l33t zelda dungeon crawl

  • you are a god. i hope you get some recognition for what you're doing.

  • 0:28 is the best...

  • OMG.....THAT IS ALL I CAN SAY

I was literally screaming at 1:20.....lol

  • Thanks... it's a cheat scale at that point... full-step hexatonic BS. C, D, E, F#, G#, A#. Check it out, I use it in a few other tunes (the Leper, notably).

  • even though I don't play keys....I'm gonna just practice that...

  • i agree

  • it looks like a whole tone to me! I always use it whilst playing solos, makes stuff fun haha.

  • what a solo on the jd800 omg

  • Have you ever thought of doing any acoustic piano original pieces? you would be great at hand over hand stuff on 88 keys (linear keys haha) which is what im learning right now... The appregiations from 2:30 to 3:00 would make an awesome track on their own! its the other very repetitive riff that sounds like dream theater... but those 30 seconds that i picked out sound more like matt bellamy from MUSE (who is a better pianist than anyone from dream theater in my personal opinion) great work!

  • never heard of dream theatre sounds good thanks for the tip

  • Dude even Dream Theatre would've been face-melted by this stuff, you rock!

  • I would

Think about it, just one guy has put all of this together by himself. Dream Theatre have 5 world class musicians at hand, and if Dream Theatre produced this song tommorow (with the vocals and guitars added of course) I wouldn't have noticed it wasn't a DT song without prior seeing this video.

  • You really rockkkkkk!!!!!!

  • head-explodingly awesome

  • white v-synth ..cool :D

  • He is actually great and this song is nice

  • Can someone tell me where you can find keyboards like that ?:O He has some skills

  • fuckin great, youre a genius =)!

  • Great track, Great keys. Fantastic!

  • I need to learn how to do this awesome synth stuff!!!

  • You offically have slain Jordan Rudess with this masterpeice! Why aren't you famous yet! This is freaking awesome! You rock the JD800, I have the JD990, similar, but without all the knobs! Great work!

  • WOW your V-Synth looks amazing! Is it a XT or a GT? BTW nice playing!

  • have exactly the same armband with the stretched checkers and also play the keys! :D

    a shame I only have a Fp-2 and microkorg:P

You've got some serious skills and you play with some kind of humor :P

    I like it!

ps I never use my pinky too whenn playing fast:P Why the hell do I got a pinky... ah yeah... chords

  • why no top one?? you got me all curious.

  • Thanks man! I will definitely check some torrents for ePiano books!

You rule dude, you inspire me to learn more on my crappy old Yamaha PSR19 keyboard lol. You're the best :D.

  • You really need to take this stuff on tour.

  • absolutely, I would drive to...er...to TEXAS to hear you.

  • Dave, I've been a RAB fan since RAB 4 and I never knew you had such synth talent! Simply amazing!

BTW is RAB 21 in the works? Release date?

Oh, and we would all love another Plastica video.

  • Holy crap this dude's a synth god!

    Teach me to play!

    Lol.

Btw, where can I learn piano/synth for free on the internet? I can't find a single place on the internet with lessons lol.

  • You might want to try expertvillage. Or you could look for piano ebooks on a torrent search site.

  • great job ! wow men.

  • I've loved all of your vids for the longest time, Rush's Subdivisions being the first.

  • ...Dag, yo.

  • Very impressive indeed! You could certainly give Rick Wakeman a run for his money :D

  • I am glad I came across this! You have great technique for this style and I really enjoyed watching this video. Was that an original composition?

I play some keys also. Great job!

    E-Murder

  • ATB,Alice DJ,TCP,The Cynic Project, this guy is so handsome:)

  • that grey Roland is amazing! I wanted to buy one Q_Q

    Good vibes, man!

  • You shold publish the sheet music of your music so others can play it and learn from it.

  • That is a Roland JD 800 i got mine on ebay for $600 it is really fun to mess around. It is in excellent condition.

  • wat is the synth is the middle? and how much do it cost?

  • I want this song! It needs to be on your next CD! 5/5

  • That middle one got great effects!

  • Some of this reminds me of early Level 42

  • crazyness

  • awesome, two thumbs up, bad if I could I'd give you more :O

  • sounds interesting like ELP & Wakeman on speed

  • not only you are good at choosing equipment,

    you actually can play!!

  • I like it, for sure :)

  • im about to order your album now. thats the first time ive ever bought music from someone i saw on youtube. amazing.

  • tangina mo!nkakabato ka

  • Badass dude. This was really awesome, especially that middle portion with the vocal sample.

What's the armband joke about? Inside joke or something?

Also, how can I get an mp3 of this totally freaking awesome song?!

  • Dave, what synth are you using to create the vocal/string patch in the back ground. Sounds a little like an old D50 or M1 patch I remember.

  • Good ear. All the background tracks are sequenced on a Korg 01/W which uses very similar architecture to the M1.

  • Living proof that im a total dork and way too old!

  • Stop being a slacker and post some more vids

  • Get them both! great CDs.

Dave- theres that plug I owe you, to cover that Mini patch I still cant get right! Beats a penny right?

Honestly both CDs are really great, im partial to the the first Parallax CD.

  • I love watching around the 2.38 mark!

I too would buy this. I'm a total sucker for amazingly played synth prog!

    5/5

  • Thanks! I do have CDs for sale... ;-)

  • Mmmm... sehr interesting... how much would one of these CDs be costing...?

  • Where can i download this?? Please Hamster, get back to me...

  • That absolutely Rocked! I would buy it!

  • nice bit of a bladerunner in there amongst the prog - nice stuff altogether.

  • SOunds like Ridge Racer slash kirby's wonderland lol

  • sounds like something i'd hear as a bgm track.... i can't think of an exact match to a game in which it would match.. come to think of it it reminds me of wally beben's rhapsody in purple a little

  • You should record that bad boy into a lossless file, like aac or ogg. It would sound great!

  • Sexy.

  • Damn. I love it!

  • Shame, looks great in white but, needs must I guess. Good vid by the way

  • Where did you get the white Roland from? Looks like the special ones made for Madonnas concert.

  • It is... I bought it last year but sold it recently to pay for some custom mods on other boards. And my taxes...

  • Frick yeah!

  • that was freakin awsome, and its amazing how you've never took piano lessons.

  • damn sexii.

just now getting really interested in synths.

the only confusing part is all the damned nobs.

any suggestions for a synth i could buy?

not a beginner playing wise, but i dont have all the knowlege to use the shit.

  • This is probrably a stupid question, but you were classically trained right? I mean Piano lessons since you were 5 kind of training?

  • Never took lessons, nope. Which is why I can't read music and have to claw my way around the keys with this dopey 3-fingered playing style. Still, not taking lessons & still somehow playing for 30 years enabled some pretty unorthodox stuff has come out of me. Different is good nowadays...

  • Hello. My English is not so good. I play since I am 6 years old. Have started with Casio MT35. I can not read music notes. Played now for 29 years Keyboard and Sythesizer. It makes a lot of fun. And there is always something new. Sure, I would like to play as well as Rick Wakeman or someone, I hope i can do better and better. Respect for hamsterdunce!! Greeting Andreas

  • I don't like this kind of prog-rock, but I have to say BRAVOOOO

    great performance, great programming

  • actually it really really reminds me of Steve Vai, because at first he plays something insane, and then it gets all quite and calm, playing a really great solo, and then back to being all insane. especially on 3:00. thats when the song gets all calm.

  • I really love how you move to one beat to another. really well done.

It sounds like some video game soundtrack.

  • 3:06 is sweet

  • Damn, that sounds dope.

Wish I had time to actually become that good.

  • i like. 50/10

  • modded vsynth?

  • Yes it got twice the power and people call it vsynth gt. Roland just stole his idea and is selling it now. Bastards!!! :D

  • nice whole tone runs.

me and my jam band love randomly switching to whole tone mid-jam and confusing everyone.

  • How do you switch the drum stuff? Foot pedal or is it playing in the background?

  • Yep, foot pedal... good guess. :o)

  • well for starters its white...

  • lol. thanks for that

  • No prob, im super helpful like that!

  • indeed you are ;) the world needs more people like you!

  • how does the white mod v synth differ to the regular ones (if at all)

  • Yeah, it's the same as a standard V-Synth, just an exterior FORAT body mod.

  • cheers, thought i may be missing out. i love your floppy video fella

  • You, sir, are Jesus.

  • Hey Dave thanks for the CD insert, your the man!! I dig the lead sound on the JD800.

PS I have a great deal on a mint Moog Voyager and some Taurus II pedals!

  • lol, insane. this sold me to subscribe

  • I saw one of those (Angelmuse mod) V synth's on Ebay, nice work,I have some of your tunes on my iPod,Zymurgy Rock's!!, throw that one up on here.

  • Yep, this was the V-synth you saw. Just sold it to a dude in Cali....

  • Another amazing song. You are the MAN!!!!!!!

    RonBot

  • Man, I loved this dude. It sounded real progressive oriented (that's what I like).

  • Wow, It's amazing! Nice use of live controllers to shape the sound, and great execution!

  • This should be the music for some ultra-awesome old school style video game.

  • good stuff man. very cool.

  • The armband is my god!

  • nice..

  • Kickass.

  • Why hello, Mr. Rudess (or perhaps Wakeman?).

  • u r the buckethead of the synth.

  • try playing final fantasy VIII boss theme (put a search on it).
