  • i couldn't disagree more with fivestarlesson. i use a 7D as a full-time photojournalist and own a nikon D7000 for my personal freelance set up. the d7000 out performs the 7D in every possible way; auto focusing video, more mpix stills, focuses faster and, sinks better with high end flash, not to mention the ability to use on camera flash to slave off camera strobe. i should also point out all the lenses i use with the 7D are L series. my d7000 is way better even using kit. they don't compare.

  • Why would someone take a D7000 over a 7D....they aren't really comparable cameras. The 7D is better.

  • @fivestarlesson Actually d7000 is better for photos as the ISO range goes up and less noise than 7D, but for video 7D is way better :)

  • nikon has a lower video quality than canon this is not a secret but this is no Comparison between two cameras

  • I BUY A FREAKING CAMERA TO TAKE A FREAKING PICTURES TOO.

BUT I'VE GOT THIS REASON TOO FOR RECORDING MY COVERS!

SO I WANT A GREAT QUALITY TOO FOR FILMING! SO TELL ME WHAT NIKON TYPE SHOULD I BUY?

  • @lendemzz92 the one with the awesome "capslock" function

  • @tObsn86 Am i suppose to laugh? Wooppss! Forgot to laugh. Ok here we go. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. :|

  • I buy a camera to take pictures not video

  • The reason i buy a dslr is for getting pictures

  • Found Canon's colors to be more saturated, but the Nikon to be slightly sharper.

  • Canon the best!

  • This is the shittiest comparison ever. down vote.

  • The Nikon is actually much more accurate. The Canon's color are too saturated. Of course this can be corrected in editing. So many people think that vibrate color is great. That is until you are filming people and their faces are bleeding color !

  • ummm thats what color correction is for dumbass

  • I think he is paid by canon lol. It's stupid to compare camera like this. "same settings" means nothing on two camera from different brand. You can't also use the same lens. Actually i used both canon 7D and nikon d7000 and i prefer the nikon. The image quality depends on lens.

  • @zangounette those cameras are each other's equivalents in the same price range. i wouldnt buy a camera based on this video so much as it is mainly video and canon just does better video over nikon.

  • This comparison is totally irrelevant. Depending on settings, both are more or less similar. It's the photographer who makes Great Photography and all the differences.

  • A little more information than "same settings" would be useful and make this video seem less unprofessional.

  • 197 peoples who dislike this video is a Nikon users

  • Sorry...next time use Auto Settings, it being the most common set up? Than show video. Not ranking on you project, just so little info?

  • It's not about the camera,it's about your skills. If you have good skills then the picture or the video come out good

  • @sarahsktr Your equipment also has a lot to do with it though..

  • @sarahsktr Not necessarily. You are not going to use a D3000 for concert photography, when you need to hit ISO's of 3200-6400. And Fast glass F/1.8-f/2.8.

  • I don't get it. You are comparing DSLR cameras with video-recording? You should mentioned that in the video, these camera are made especially for PHOTOGRAPHY and not video recording...

  • Nikon's colors are true to life colors...

turn up the saturation and there'll be NO difference in between D7000 and 7D ...

people, never make judgments before analyzing anything.

    Nikon for life!

  • Well...I don't know, but based on this video, Canon 7D owns Nikon D7000 any day

  • I can't that this is real .. the Nikon just can't be out of focus all the time, unless set up that way

  • Nikon sucks.

  • nope!

  • The Canon looks a little more saturated and bright. Can picture control correct this in the Nikon?

  • NIKON - photography

    CANON - filming

  • @delonge5000 the like button for this comment

  • @delonge5000 Canon - filming and MAINLY photography. ;)

  • yeah okay ;)

Nikons are waaaaay better than Canons...even james nachtwey switched from canon to nikon...canons are well sold because of their powerful marketing usage and not really for their reliability. Everybody knows that Nikon makes tougher bodies and sharper lens.

    Problem?

  • @delonge5000 You know what's the problem? DSLR cameras are becoming very acessible and it's flooding the market, so a bunch of 14 years teenager can have one and start with a pathetic fanboyism with the brand. I have no doubt that that's your case. Jamer nachtwey is a very influent photographer so people like him should not try to promote their equipment, unless they are paid from the brand for that. I didn't even look out to see if your statement is true, since it's so irrelevant.

  • @diogorva yeah yeah ok

  • @delonge5000 Also, try to compare a popular lens like a 50mm f1.8 from both canon e nikon and you see which one is sharper (even though the canon is much cheaper). Try to compare 17 55 2.8 from both brands, which is a highend lens for APS-C and come again to say that nikon lens are sharper. I have no doubt that nikon have some lens that are sharper than equivalents from canon, just like the opposite can happen, you can not always win and only a unbiased mind know that. Seriously, go to hell.

  • @diogorva the canon and nikon versions are the same price your comparing the newer nikon 50 1.8

  • @delonge5000 hes right thats an ignorant comment

  • This doesn't really prove anything - try using the same lens and do the same test with a really nice Zeiss - Then you might see a result. The biggest difference is 7D can do slow motion - thats about it, they are both good cameras, but Nikon is a better built camera in my humble opinion

  • @camero66 hehehehehhe nikon is a better build camera? that was a joke? check some reviews ;)

  • It is funny to watch comparison videos done by the various fans of the "winning" camera.

  • Canon Power !!!

  • what musick name is from that video?

  • So from what I see, you should get the D7000, color correct and adjust contrast for free and save $500.

  • @ReflexEight I thought exactly the same way than you

  • From my experience between Nikon and Canon.. I would say that Canon's shots are naturally more saturated and Nikon's shots are more neutral. The quality between the actual photage between the two don't seem to differ much besides color.

  • I currently own a D7000 and a D3, To compare Nikon to Canon is getting boring. It all depends on what you are shooting and where,Studio or on location somwhere. Yes ISO's can be are different. Both Cameras are fine Photography divices, it all depend on how the camera feels in your hand. Does it fit ? To big,to small. To exspensive, what are you used to ? What have you shot with in the past ?If you have mostly Canon lenses then I would stick with that product, as the same with Nikon if so applies

  • I much prefer Nikons, but I don't know why. Mostly any differences there tho can be fixed in post.

  • I always chose canon. to be my vision x)

  • u dont set it to vivid color. if u set it, u will see how amazing it is!

  • It seems that the Canon cameras produce a warmer and more contrastant image. Is it possible to tweak some configs of the Nikon D7000 to get warmer and more contrastant pictures as well?

  • @heybraza or it could be the lenses?

  • @heybraza, Yes you can change the white balance using kelvin degrees in the menu option and the range is from 2500K to 10000K. It also has presets and auto white balance so you can have what ever colour temperature you want.

  • @heybraza yes. Picture settings are sharper out of the box for Canon but Nikon's can be adjusted in menu

    .

  • @TheNEWBobDylan @tinimanproduction1 @Imporiumdesire thanks for the replies! I will try to tweak the configs a bit and maybe look for sites with good tutorials! Thanks again.

  • looks live if been to the place where this was filmed, a Friend of mine lives close to that place, i guess

  • I really like your videos guys ... You get a good sense of the qualities of the cameras. Again I find the Canon (although I've always had Nikon cams) a bit better, because of the higher contrast. What do you guys think is the best camera to shoot videos with? May be Sony is better because of the their experience.

Please also check out the Sony dsc hx9v? Could you do also a comparison with that camera please? I saw some amazing results of this compact camera with Full HD 50p. Thanks again :)

  • what the ......

nikon like a shit man.. -_-

  • Looking from the results- I have heard that canon is better in the video department- I like the warmth in the test videos from the canon. I have a dedicated camcorder though. I think the 7000 is cheaper too.

  • you can tell they filmed this at different times, the sun moved so that's why the canon looks more exposed. other than that, they're pretty much the same.

  • Comparing a nissan 350z with a lamborghini reventon...

  • @sunnykhoo88 No... car analogies do not work here. Especially since the Nikon is better in many areas and is cheaper.

  • @MrBladeCrash i mean, look at the title: D7000 vs 7D, which one to buy!?

human person would expect there will be a nice guy/pretty lady talking about cameras, specs, how the iso works in Hi modes, does the flippy tilty screen does its job right..

instead of that we get a video clip! literally

  • @MrBladeCrash only thing this is even comparable, is white balance (shade, sun, clouds, indoor), lens it self, because yes, there are colour changes because of glass, settings IN camera itself (normal, landscape, portrait, vivid)

i mean, the only thing you can see here, is video itself

why not some ISO competition, speed and accuracy of af points

i know that it only video test, but others don't know when they see a video on right side!

it's just wrong, u get me?

  • OH MY FUCKING GOD, i hate these kind of reviews!

we want facts, how does it look, how does it feels, what is capable of, NOT JUST SOME CRAPPY SAMPLES!

there is even no specs, what kind of lightning you were using, iso sensitivity, lens specs

    i'm going to throw up..

  • nikon rocks....

  • haha, this video was made by a canon lover of course,. haha, this is just bs.

  • Nikon is famous for that yellow hue, as for Canon is best at producing natural colours and finer details. And this video is comparison is spot on.

  • Canon has just brighter colors. That's all...

    Nikon FTW ! :)

  • fuck you Nikon is the best who know which one of this video is Nicon nd which one is canon just shut up i love Nikon they are the best nd i am about to buy Nikon D7000 but now days dont hv that much cash

  • @0093786769769 how do you know its the best when you don't even own it....

  • nikon D7000 is a bit underexpose

  • I have d7000 right front of me right now. You can get Canon 7D colors with this stuff also. You jus gotta edit your white balance. Nikon's default is duller than canon's but you are able to edit nikons white balance which is pretty easy.

  • @K2adir So that means Canon is better than Nikon when it's STRAIGHT from factory.

  • i feel the deference is color based?

  • obviously, both camera will need different settings to get better results... I feel sorry for anyone who thinks this is truly D7000 Quality........ Nothing against the 7D, but this is false advice....

  • canon is better

  • @Bertsi51 yh

  • Nikon d 7000!.

  • Silly video.

In the end i love having a 550d, and its video quality. But to me its just an add on. It adds something i wouldnt normally do.

If you want to shoot video, i suggest getting a camcorder that can to hd.

And if you are that bothered about the technology, i would say...SHOOT FILM!

  • @rorrt What people do not realize and are unaware of is, DSLRs in many cases shoot better video than stand alone video cameras that are twice to three times the cost. In fact, many production companies use DSLRs to shoot commercial video. If you don't use it, then that's fine. But to some people like myself, it is a necessity. It usually is the people who know little about the capabilities of the video that recommend dedicated video cameras.

  • @WhiteBeltAcademy

I know, the 5D mk2, has shot some very high budget drama on the BBC, and the Finale of House series ?

As the Canon lenses are amazing, and the cameras are small

  • nikon d7000 is much better compare to canon 7d, only exposure and looks like more saturated the canon 7d has. but almost all of the great specs is on D7000.

  • The D7000 can distinguish 3x more colors than the canon D7. Contrast is just a simple edit. I shoot a lot of long exposure and the differences become amazing. Nikon wins every time!! Sorry canon fans. You have to make the switch at some point.

  • i thing better 1 xcanon 7D

  • That's what Nikon does, I have a D700, it doesn't have much contrast because it handles a LOT of dynamic range, a stop more than the 5d mark 2

  • Let's not forget that the 7d is 300-400 dollars more than the d7000. The only difference we notice is the contrast in higher on the canon, but that can easily be adjusted in menus and post processing.

  • Oh good... Youtube compressed video vs Youtube compressed video. Hopefully they don't look this noisy straight out of the camera. Only noticeable difference is the Canon looks more saturated.. not a big deal.

  • canon is better one

  • Canon = Pro video

    Nikon = Pro images

  • @tamahome5555

    Well said :D

  • Canon is pretty solid camera. They did shoot the movie Black Swan on the 7D and 1D and they shot the action scenes of Captain America with the 5D.

  • I'm Nikon fan, but 7D here looks much better!

  • @bgnetstrahil

I'm a Canon fan, but the D7000 looks much better!

  • hey someone forgot to wipe the D7000 lens?

  • 7Ds colors look better, so i choose 7D.

  • @FiingerTV That's exactly what you do not want (especially for video). The dynamic range of the D7000 is obviously better holding more details in blacks and whites. The contrast and the saturation you can add afterwards to your liking. Too saturated and you are limited to the range what you can do.

  • @FiingerTV You're right, logically.. thanks! You can always edit that vid on somee editing program and put saturation etc.

  • The lower contrast from the nikon d7000 shows that it has better dynamic range as it captures more blacks. Contrast and color can always be added in post or with nikon picture controls :)

  • 7d so much better

  • had the 7D for a week... glad i changed it to the d7000 (as backup machine) by the way.. this video is with the D7000 kit lens i asume... put the same type on the 7D and people will faint here...

  • The D7000 has the better bokeh while the 7D has better saturation. If you want to take pictures, D7000 is the better choice. For video, Canon for sure.

  • @AcornBurrka For video I rather have a less saturated picture. When it's too saturated it's a pain to color grade it.

  • @rdoetjes Same here. I'm just trying to ease the pain for Canon users.

  • @AcornBurrka Well either one is a great camera you'd be happy to own either of them :D

  • you can color correct both and then they look identical

  • Nikon D7000 looks mostly like in movies.. And canon 7D is like alive and realistic..

  • next one should be Nikon D40 vs. Canon 5D Mark II, with coming to the conclusion that Canon is better than Nikon

  • @tinamu2

    hahahaaaa love it !

  • 7d has better contrast and brighter colors

  • It's more like 'Which Lens is Better".

  • i've watched some of your clips comparing Nikon D7000 to several Canon dslrs & honestly no offense, they look all the same in favor of Canon which has a more brighter image.. kinda biased if you ask me.

im not a Canon hater, but i'm a D7k owner & i've recorded some clips like what you guys did but it had satisfactory results, not like the dim-lighted Nikon video you've recorded.

you had different settings & lenses installed for each camera.

    that's a fact.

  • These video's prove nothing.

  • You have all been deceived by this vid. Even with the better lens on the 7D and the more saturated settings to make the color look nicer, you can still TELL the D7000 has SHARPER images and stronger image quality. :50-:51 look at the details of the crystals. I use both Camera's so I am least biased. The D7000 WINS for image quality and EVERYTHING ELSE. 7D is overpriced, but great for HI speed photography. You can't compare the 7D to D7000. The D7K compares to the 5D. LOL

  • @spoonr47 Okay really... I mean come on... You're making me feel very good about getting the D7k but the D7k wasn't used to film Captain America.

  • a better lens on the 7d obviously !

  • 7d obviously

  • clearly this is just to show the differences, not which is better.

The two companies will always look different

  • You people also must remember that this is a video. These to camera's should not be compared in video. The Canon no doubt has the superior video quality but when it come to image quality and what these camera's are really made for.. The Nikon i far superior there.

  • @Sean96864 *Two

  • @Sean96864 This video is only for comparing video quality. But saying Nikon is faaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrr superior is just an insult

  • look at 0:15 - 0:22 how better looks the graphiti in 7D

    canon <3

  • This is not a very meaningful way of comparing. saturation and sharpness are parameters which are adjusted in post process. and the resolving power of the lens is compared using MTF charts etc which is not possible to see with the naked eye side by side like this.

  • you are kiddn me...nikon would fold up n leave if the diff in image quality is this high...

  • canon ofcourse

  • Bollocks comparison m8

this is what a D7000 video looks like in default settings. with a relatively cheap 35mm lens. with no coloring or editing.

    flickr.com/photos/trev_sin/5990245779/in/photostream

  • As said by others the comparisons don't prove anything. We don't even know what you are using for camera settings or lens. These cameras are both quite nice and just depends on price, features, camera layout of buttons plus fit and feel which is important as well.

  • 7D is sharper and clearer.

  • @thejan4129

Cameras aren't "Sharper and Clearer", that has to do with the lens.

  • @Ishcoa Yes... but are they using the stock lens?

  • @thejan4129

I'm not sure. Even if they are, it shouldn't matter too much as the 18-105 and the 18-135 (the stock lenses included with each camera) are about equal.

  • @Ishcoa Ok thanks

  • @thejan4129

    You're welcome :)

  • wouldn't you be able to just go into the settings of the d7000 and sharpen a bit, add a little contrast? How do we know this was not done to the 7D?

  • 7d fuh sho imma nikon user btw

  • Pointless, Nikon AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-135mm and Canon EF-S 18-135mm are not the same lenses ...

  • @7h3Kill3r

Why pointless?, same focal length so the test is a fair like for like comparison, they may be different makes but so are the Cameras which is the whole point of the exersice by a Canon rig you get X result buy Nikon you get Y

  • pointless comparison.

Who would want to shoot a video on a DSLR anyway?

  • @allusernamestaken01 why not?

  • @Timoleon87 because it's not the right tool for the job. CMOS sensors produce a rolling shutter effect. Not cool.

  • @allusernamestaken01

Wrong!! They shoot 24 and Saturday Night with DSLR.

  • @allusernamestaken01 becuase shooting video with a dslr provides high resolution and powerful manual settings for much less of a price then pro quality video cameras

  • @allusernamestaken01 everyone is shooting videos on dslr already, still living in a cave? -.-

  • @rhapsodytan93 I have never seen a cave that wasn't part of a park under government control and thus, dwelling is prohibited. So, I guess I don't live in a cave. But you are pathetic.

  • @allusernamestaken01 Dude, even the latest camcorders from Canon use a CMOS sensor. Do your homework before you comment :)

  • I like the contrast of the Canon, but one might say that the D7000 is the winner here for that very reason.

The Nikon footage is a little less stylized and would probably be a better choice if you have any intention of colour correcting in post.

That's said, the difference is fairly minute and probably not worth giving a damn about.

  • I got the 7D however you can't compare two cameras just by watching a video on youtube. What I can say about the 7D is that is very well built. The ergonomics are excellent 10+. I holded the d700 and the 7D feels better. Autofocus is very good as you can imagine. Battery life I shot 1600 photos on a wedding with only one battery. On the downsides is the high iso. If you go over 1600 you'll get noise. Bear in mind buying a camera doesn't make a photographer but a camera owner.

  • It's already been shown and proven that in this class of camera, which a lot would say this should be the D7000 vs 60D that Canon is better for video. However, for a still camera in the top end of the consumer market, the D7000 is the one to get. It's got more pro level options, mag alloy body, high ISO capabilities and excellent noise performance. It's a higher class of camera than the 60D, even though it runs 400 less than the 7D it's definitely not out classed by the 7D.

  • Um, I have two cameras, for video I have a dedicated high def video, and for stills I chose a Nikon. If I wanted to save money and get half of both, then the Canon is the one to buy, however if you want better still photos and better videos, you have to buy two cameras. Simply put, a Cmos sensor cannot do both well enough, so they have to divide what the sensor does to produce acceptable quality. Nikon dedicates more of the sensor to Stills than Canon does.

  • By did you change the setting for 7 D ?

  • a bit of a bias test, given the fact that just because the colours are warmer and more hollywood on the 7d and not on the d7000, the cameras are both as good as each other just michael bay has set up the camera on the right and not on the left. And anyway if u want a good dslr for video then spend a little more money on a 5d mark 2, better sensor better everythin

  • they are on two diff focal points notice the nikon is never focused in im sure the the nikon would have no problem shooting full manual it seems to me it was focused on everything in the background compared to the 7d

  • @TheSuperior718 im no professional though

  • Canon has slightly more crisp and sharp video. Yeah thats cool, but the D7000 image quality is WAY better. Just do some research if you don't believe me. The sensor on the D7000 is the best non 35mm sensor on the market right now.

If video is more important than stills, get the 7d. Then again, if video is more important to you than stills, why are you even getting a DSLR?

  • Quite similar quality, the differnce is mainly with saturation(Nikon provide more natural colours/Canon more vivid)I am couriuos abot lenses which was used.

  • I think both Cameras are great. Although overall the 7d has the edge I'm likely going to purchase the d7000 simply cause it is a better value for the $. Given the same price point it would be 7d, no brainer.

  • which lenses ? too much colour differences

  • and the director of this video can see the difference ,that CANON of course wins ;)

(gamw tin panagias sas gamw ) canon wins AGAIN

    hey :(

dear canon give a little change for nikon one time, just ONE if you wont ,of course !

  • no say.. canon wins... get canon 7D

  • Canon Rules ..

  • CANON

    OF COURSE

  • There is no apparent difference in video quality. I notice the canon is displaying higher color saturation. This could have all been shot on the same camera, and then the color saturation increased on half of the footage using software. Other than that I notice no difference.

  • Canon 7D ALWAYS WINS

  • This is bullshit. I've been using D7000 and been shooting like mad for the past few months. Most of my friends who are Canon fans complained about the color saturation of my Nikon. I totally agree with DaMatta11..the setting for Nikon is incorrect!
