I realize that, in this "modern" hip and selfish world that I'm the sick one for having a bit of compassion. A close friend of mine died from falling down 5 icy concrete steps a while back. Hit her head and died instantly. She was seven months pregnant. The baby died as well. Now THERE'S a REALLY big chuckle.

@HUDJames FYI, Salt does not do anything to Ice at certain temperatures, and over the last week or so the temperature has been below the effective range.

So adding salt wouldnt have made any difference. The Ice was there and was staying till it melted on its own.

This is why Gritters are gritting certain parts of the country, its because the grit wont help as the temperature is too cold. Anything below -6 is too cold for the grit to work.
