Lots of naive people who live in the past and think volvo is still the safest today. XC90 did better only because it weighs almost twice as much as the golf. Put the Volvo C30 and VW Touraeg in a test, and C30 will get demolished, way more than the golf. Guaranteed.

@derbigpr500 And how do you reckon that is? Volvos biggest priority with cars is not performance or design. They know the Germans have them beat at that. No, Volvos biggest priority is with the safety. The C30 has done absolutely magnificent in crash tests and the electric version got called one of Volvos safest cars so far. Volvo are still making progress well beyond the other car brands in terms of safety. "City safety" and BLIS are just some systems other brands have begin to copy from volvo.

But be fair XC 90 is much much heavier than the Golf....at least the integrity of Golf is still kind of decent after the crash. What a shame we cannot see the scientific figures like force / pressure on the cabins / dummies but I think u are likely to see the other way round if u crash an S40 into a Touareg.

But of coz I hope Volvo is stronger than VW.......as my wife is driving VW Tiguan and mine is an S40

Impolite means they didn't test in an sterile environment/circumstances like a crash labroratry, but focus more on real life scenarios. (like having botles of water in your trunk, or driving a fiat 500 into a Q7.)

Weil beim Crash ein Volvo-Querträger reißt, kann sich der Golf nur noch punktuell abstützen. Der Volvo steigt während des Aufpralls in die Höhe und trifft auf die Vorderfront des VW. That was actually a bad result for Volvo.

Sure the car wasn't very damaged, but one of Volvo's goals with the XC90 was making it safe in crashes against smaller cars. SUVs in general "drive over" smaller cars so Volvo placed the impact beam lower.
