  • toy or boy?! help me

  • Miller , it happens every time

  • I like your snake shoes

  • I like your snake shoes

  • I was able to do the same with the memory toy, both are capable of that

  • i cant tell the difference betreen the two pedals

  • @MattTheLatt They sound very much alike but the memory boy offers more options with the modulation and the exp pedal input.

  • great demo thanks man.

  • Can i use this memory boy as a normal chorus??

  • sorry guys, but this pedal is complete crap. sounds great but everyone seems to be having serious problems with it. mine worked for about 50 minutes, then it stopped working. if you wanna buy memory toy, then you should consider investing some more and buy memory boy, it seems to be designed way better. sorry ehx, but memory toy sucks big time.

  • the toy seems quieter than the boy.

  • "Men, hello? Still there" jajajaja

    5:55

awesome demo... i-m going to buy the memory boy right now...

  • I love how they have Jack Black doing pedal reviews now!

  • Jack black?

  • Should you put your delay before your overdrive pedals or after them?

  • @JustGuitarr think of your last pedal in the chain as your amp, and the ones before it as the effects, do you want to dirty up your delay amp, or add a delay to an overdriven amp? i would go with overdrive last

  • @nymetsrock Well, I think delay sounds the best in FX loop that means after OD. That's where people usually put it. It's much more clear sounding. When you have it before OD you get different kind of effect. It sounds like you were playing faster or there were many guitars playing. But when it's after OD the sound is more like delay. And when you have a lot of distortion a delay pedal before OD is very unclear. It's hard to hear the delay repeats. So I like it after distortion.

  • what is the max delay time? true bypass? does this suck lot of tone?

  • GMD you love your Dr. Z like a Kangaroo loves it's young ones.

  • why does everyone have to bust into some dinky U2 riff when trying out a delay pedal?

  • @beeeastmaster Because you almost HAVE to. The fingers can't help it! :)

  • @beeeastmaster U2 is delay

  • enjoy your pedal reviews great job man!

  • @sp1naway

at least it doesn't smell like teen spirit...

  • Less is more? More is more?! Agh, the math!!!

  • does the memory toy has a volume drop when the blend knob is at 12 0 clock, just like the #1 echo?

im planning to get a memory toy if it doesnt have the same volume drop as the # echo

    thanks

  • @mbsunga I heard it has a boost when the mix is below noon.

  • this just funny

  • I do not recommend this, but i picked up one of these today(toy), i got impatient and opened it up, i fooled with the pots that every forum said your not supposed to, and was able to get my memory toy to self oscillate way better then it does stock. I really shouldn't have done it, and if you do definitely mark your settings, but one of those pots effects the oscillation. And now it sounds awesome, actually it self oscillates almost too easy, but it's a fair trade in my opinion. just a heads up.

  • @mediawasteland Also in my opinion the chorus mod depth knob requires some adjustment, it sounds much more musical now, stock it sounds horrible. BUT KNOW WHAT YOUR DOING, if you don't find a friend that does, it doesn't take much to break these pedals, so be careful!!

  • hahaha dont go away, come back!

  • Less is more maybe... or more is more! hahahahahahahha very funny dude!!!

  • What does this guy do to afford all this stuff

  • @theShowStopper321 I think he produces records for people

  • @theShowStopper321 hes jack black lol

  • @theShowStopper321 no, he put out some vids of his first pedals, they got popular, not companies giv ehim free stuff to demo so people will see their products

  • Nice Demo as yours always are!! Any possibility of the Memory Toy vs MXR Carbon Copy? Trying to decide which one to buy.

  • @OldLesPaulRocker i would like a demo like that too... i prefer the memory toy, but not sure.

  • Comment removed

  • hey man! great videos. I wonder how didn't you notice the volume boost that the memory toy has... makes it unusable... any way to solve this?

  • ha great stuff, just what i needed to see for some silver sun pickups stuff!

  • great review Jack Black

  • really cool demo man, top quality and entertaining lol

  • Sometimes I forget that this isn't really Jack Black.

  • DELAYS...DELays....Delays...delays...dela...

  • Seems the Memory Boy has a warmer tone.

  • what patchcables does he use?

  • @disturbtheworlds i think there fulltone ones, although im not 100% sure

  • Do you think you could do a comparison between the memory toy and the GFS Pro Delay Classic i would really appreciate it thanks

love the vids i subscribed :)

  • your reviews are some of the best on the internet. honestly! you dont try and sell the gear.. you just have fun with it... so refreshing. SUSCRIBED

  • more is more xD

  • Delays...Delays...Delays...

    haha so fucking funny. ;)

  • These pedals are really just sick! I mean the modulated delay that really gives it that character. I'm gonna get one of these one day. Thanks for the awesome demo GMD!

  • im getting a memory boy in a week, any pros and cons or tips any1?

  • Hey GMD , Love The Black Crowes....nice intro

  • why is every fckng analog delay demo on YT with all clean tones throughout? it will be very helpfull if you run it with driven amp or od pedal in front just to see how repeats blend into each other... thanks for demos anyway. cheers

  • @rotosphere99 I ain't no church boy but, Amen brotha...A-fucking-men.

  • @rotosphere99 I know. I'm going to run one specifically with a JCM 800 overdriven so it would be useful to see that.

  • @rotosphere99

SO YOU CAN HEAR THE DELAY!

  • @meggs28 fack off dude

  • phat video

  • haha dude your so awesome.

  • Also check out the electro harmonix #1 echo. it gets some really nice tones if you can find the right settings.

  • @guitarkidprevost awesome pedal i agree, but it is digital these are analog

  • this vid was great, i've just ordered my toy instead of memory boy.

  • I think lma get the memory toy. It'll sound very nice with my metal muff when im doing leads. I luv ur video 's bro, there very helpful...

  • MEMORY TOY!

  • less is more!

  • lol straight signal smells like this

  • I bought this a while back and was pretty dissapointed with it. The blend knob really messes with your sound and I really wasn't happy with it and got a carbon copy. Oh and the reason the dude has got all this gear is because he works at a guitar store here in Louisville, Ky.

  • fun with the feedback nob...

  • I just bought the Memory Boy after heading in to buy the Memory Toy. There was only a $20 difference between the two, the Boy came with an a/c adapter as well as had an extra control knob for modulation and the ability to add an expression pedal that could control delay or modulation depending on setting. Set-up next to each other, the Boy had a richer toner. All in all worth the extra $20 to me. Now I just need some chops!!

  • well that is verry helpful cuz i just got some b-day cash and i waz gona but the memory toy but i would have needed to buy and adapter withch is almost 15 dolaz any wayz so i could just ge t the momory boy for almost the sam price :)

  • @GuernB2 yeah...you still need to power it somehow though

  • @RT101894 memory boy comes with the adapter. and that comment is 8 months old...

  • Man GMD its like David Gilmour entered your body. Live at Pompei! Set the Controls for the HEART OF THE SUN!

  • It does sound a lot like J.B. when he is describing equipment, but once he starts playing and you hear him "straight signal, smells like this" he doesnt sound like him. BUTTT, why doesnt he reveal who he is. It would be cool to see Kyle gass on here. Jack Black is more of an acoustic guy.

  • just because he played acoustic in his movie doesn't mean hes an acoustic guy.

  • I agree with you MikeCampbellCKY. It doesnt mean that. But going off of his albums, The Tenacious D hbo show, the Tenacious D live dvd and the pick of destiny, along with movies like "Bio-dome" where he plays acoustic guitar, he just comes off more of an acoustic guitar player. You know? But whos keeping track? It would be cool if this was him, it would explain how he pays for all of the pedals. And the bitchin new boots, did you see that video yet?

  • That effect you got with the Memory Boy? The ringing forever? Chris Ross, formerly of Wolfmother, was a master of using that sound with a Memory Man. Except, on a keyboard. Live.

  • gearmandude you are getting better with delay! haha

  • Can you get a :everlasting: delay like the one you got on the memory boy on the memory man?

  • Yes like I said Chris Ross who was in Wolfmother used to do that and he had like perfected it and he used the Memory Man

  • Great review . . . was it me or did the Toy sound a tad thinner than the Boy?

  • I wouldn't describe it as thin.. But thin has a negative connotation with me when it comes to pedals. A DS-1 is thin. I think the Toy is a bit brighter, maybe a bit clearer with the articulation.

  • easily one of the funniest videos that guy has ever pulled...! Great job as always GMD!

So, the Memory Boy is a very good beer-drinking buddy I gather.... :-)

  • memory toy!

    affordable price with decent quality

  • "see i do know hos to use delays - i think its going to explode though" - hahaha i lolled

  • I read the Memory Toy was a clone of the MXR Carbon Copy..... Not sure how true this is but it came from someone who knows his stuff.

  • There is not a lot of differences, the Boy is a little better, but the Toy is also very good !

  • thank you a lot for this video i was looking for a video where i can see actual difference between these two pedal, since memory man too expensive,

  • The Memory Boy might not be a Man, but he's definitely ready to put childish things behind him. Easily better than the "toy".

  • haha "i think its gonna explode, though"

  • gearmanndude, I bet you could play a mean Ghost Riders on the Storm.

I think the Memory Boy with an expression pedal would be the bee keeper's cat pajamas.

  • This is to much delay for one man to handle

  • Great gear vid as always Gear Mann but what realy caught my eye was that green Dunlop sharkfin pick. I have a few left from @20 years ago that i cherish. Best pick eva!! lol

  • Good EyE!

Didn't see that laying there...you totally busted me! It's a great weapon for sure...they still make em'!

    ROCK!

    GMD

  • your either a famous rock star or you robbed a music shop, where do you get all the gear from?? great work anyway hi from west london if your ever over here touring well all get to gether get drunk and jam you crazy anonamous geezer you

  • im actually starting to believe that this guy is jack black LOL. maybe thats how he can afford all the gear.

  • @gearmanndude

If a vintage Memory Man is a 10, and 1 is shit, where would these two fall?

  • @gearmanndude I USE SHARK FINPICKS :) Favorite pick so far :) What gauge do you like to use?
