  • I love the music, the song, hypnotic, I'm not a fan of the dancing here, but totally worth listening to again and again

  • Apithano Video!!! Apotheosi!!!

  • what's this dance please??

  • @Kalimeraba really? please can u write the whole refrain, and maybe a translation? i want to learn it.

and to jureilers: Thank you for mentioning the tempo, they always play it so fast in Greece!

  • the music is perfect, the improvisations, the Ud, qanun, and my favourite the violin as well, it is a pleasure to listen. That's why I don't understand this dancer. The belly dancer club member houswifes make is better in the community centre in the next corner

  • pease tell me the type f this dance

  • @kristi2612

    tsifteteli!!

  • because i said the girl is beautiful you fuckheads are going to give me a thumbs down lol. Interesting. Give me some more

  • the girl dances in a way that is quite close to central asians (uzbeks, tajiks), not turks :) i think sofia papazoglou signs this songs much better.

  • for your info only, tajiks and uzbeks etc are turks or at least turkic and so are turks from turkey or cyprus etc however the turks of turkey have more arabian influence! whereas the Cypriot turks more european influance! The greeks have a wide range of influances, some arabic, some turkish, some turkic some persian etc etc put them together and heypresto! they are really all the same just with variation! peace

  • for your info only... R u trying ti say that the Greeks that are the cradle of western civilization and influenced everyone, are those who were influenced by their eastern neighbors? In witch areas if you don't mind telling us please?

  • Dear friend, yes the greeks are considered to be the cradle of civilisation to the western world, im not disputing that. by your message i sense i rather offended or sceptical tone in your questioning. i hope you have not taken offense to what i said to someone else.

As for what i say, you can research and prove or try to disprove anything i say, i am prepeared to listern to other views by all means.

what i meant was, todays greek, has lots of nfluences it has picked up over centuries

  • these influences are varied in a big way. when you look at demographics you see that the greeks were exposed to trojans (known thanks to homer) hitites, ionites, assyrians etc. you see some small influences picked up by these peoples. secondly with the pontian greeks moving near armenians this meant a slight variation in influence based upon the ur or levantines as we know them. to the east we know that greeks fought persians now i know they influenced your ppl vastly.

  • if you look at their old city persepolis, which the greeks destroyed, because they saw it as too luxurious - in time greeks adopt this aim for luxury thus giving us nice building etc,

also i know that greeks picked up a lot of influences from the arabs, (also where the turkic peoples in my other comment picked up from) back in ancient times we know that arab cultures mixed with all sorts of cultures for trade as is the case with khazneh(research pls)

  • also we see that when greeks took over at egypt they were intrigued by egyptian high culture thus adopting lots of it, as is with ppl like cleopatra (a greek pharoah) and the greek egyptian tombs found are evidence to this. Also alexandria shows great proof that certain influences were adopted.

Alexander the great was an example as he settled for some time in middle east and adopted certain influences from the people there, but thats what made him a good conquerror.

  • With time my friend the turks invaded, and although the turks learnt and adopted lots of greek culture also, certain influences were picked up from them due to a long shared history. so you see my point is this, what makes greek culture and identity is really a fusion of collected influences merged together by the greeks thus making a great culture that is shared by many in that region today.

p.s you might need to know that lots of greek work was known again after arabs translated to latin!

  • I hope i have not offended you or anyone else, you asked and so i made an observation based upon certain world known facts i was told!

    peace

  • Don't be afraid to offend certain people. Especially in the way you "offended" him. A normal, serious, thinking person would have have been offended and an idiot might even learn something from your offense.

  • Nice version. But please somebody upload that Glorious version E.Arvanitaki does in Summer'95 Concert Live on the Rocks !!!! Nobody ( includes she ) played and will play this great song as she does in that moment of paroxism !!!! Yassou .....

  • Arvanitaki's "performance" is far below every one else that performed this song. But she was backed up by disc companies and broadcast networks.

Like rangvi from France says, this version is beautiful and emotional.

  • The best version of this is from Arvanitaki in the documentary done by Ntalaras in 1983. You can see it right here on youtube in "Rembetiko music of the outsiders" Part 6. No one to date has done a better job singing "koupes" then she did in that one, please watch the whole video of Part 6 when you find it, its excellent. It is also the best instrument playing as well.

  • I have been posting comments for the past hour. It has been a tremendous waste of time. it is now 3am where I live and 11am in Athens. If I post another comment could somebody please fly over the US and Shoot me in the head. I will pay for your ticket and the gun.

  • MOYSIKH TEXNH is greek.

  • ti organo auto to kanonaki... h melwdia tou se stelnei.....

  • I don't understand what the problem is. This is a traditional song of the greeks who came 1922 from smyrne. They brought their traditions and songs with them to greece. And it is logical that the influence between the two cultures is mutual, if you know what mutual means. We also don't ask you, why are you using our words such as democracy. We are proud that the greek language has been spread all over the world. The idea "this is mine, this is yours" is ridiculous.

  • Just get the fuck over it and enjoy it for what it is... Music is supposed to bring ppl together... And to all those Turks writing in their own language either contribute to the discussion by typing in English either fuck off!!!

  • OSOI XEROUN KANOUN TOYMBEKI

  • nice old greek song............

  • Nice slow ussak tsiftetelli. No guitars, daraboukas and other bullshit.

  • Yiati ti exoun oi darabukes re xeneri koultouriari

  • good GREEK song stolen from the turks before they after they had stole greek and persian culture.....

  • If you had any sort of education, upbringing and/or had a penchant for thought, you would know - after 500 years of occupation, pedomazoma, genocide and pure suffocation of culture we took what we did and made it our own. Our own! We are and always will be victorious!

  • Who are the musicians on this video and when was it recorded?

  • you have introduced me into a total new world, thank you!

  • oooh please shut up with the crap that ALL songs are turk songs..its getting tiering.from all songs that turks comment are theirs wouldnt leave us greeks a single song. Jealousy or what? come on now...

  • Perfect. Please post more!

  • this is turk-arap song

  • beautiful mate, keep on!!!

  • instrumentation...fantastic!

  • no klarino, no guitar.. we could take a break here and have some raki!

  • You have a point here my friend...
