Cool add, makes you feel bad about the idiots driving them in the 80s listening to Guns N Roses. Nobody has brought back the 70s style though! I'm not fooled! They just draw little retro pictures all over their generic crap and say it's just like the ones we endeared.
It may sound crazy, but since GM, Ford and Dodge have brought back some classic styles, I think that Honda and Toyota should do the same. There is something about the old boxy Japan cars that I love to death. And if they could team it up with some wicked motors and suspension along with modern comforts, I think it would rock. But maybe I'll just keep dreamin', oh well!
Interesting point - it'd be interesting to see 2008 model Japanese cars styled in an updated yesteryear fashion (imagines now an updated Toyota 2000GT, Datsun-they should bring back the Datsun name-240Z, Honda S800, Datsun 120Y-Actually maybe not lol!)
On the other hand though, I do get the idea that the Japanese are continually innovating (Ford/GM for periods were stagnant), and looking to future instead of past with product - still a good idea though!!!
Absolutely one of the best commercial films in automobile industry to say at least! This film represents how this Prelude should be driven. Obviously, this is not a car for kids but very matured adults. Although the film was made back in late 70's, the set up looks still fresh. I still love this particular model after almost 30 years. Thank you for sharing this precious film with us; I really apprecaite it.
82xxr, I have something to say about what you said about the first Prelude not being for kids but for matured adults. Get ready to laugh or as you say on the net, LOL! The old Prelude is only for kids IF they have a fixed income or an income so broke that it can't get fixed. My profound apologies if I insulted or offended anyone.
A brilliantly orchestrated piece of advertising, particularly with the brilliantly executed long angle camera shots.
Look carefully though but they are actually using two DIFFERENT cars in this - A right-hand-drive Prelude with alloy wheels is used at the beginning (in Great Britain) and a left-hand-drive Prelude with steel wheels is shown in mainland Europe...
I wish i could just go back in time and buy all those JDM old school cars brand new and bring them to the present with me !

FYI, the voice over IS Japanese. They shot this promo in Europe and it was shown to the Japanese public for their market.

Great Britain (the Prelude looks incredibly modern in contrast to the 'British machinery' shown and within) and Mainland Europe, likely France...

this ad would have had to have been 1979 and not 78 as the caravelli tune was on his 1979 lp
