  • Is the hand stippling on to of the slide and checkering under the trigger guard only on very early type 1's? I ask because after looking at many on auction sites, I've never noticed this beautiful extra detail work before. Simply gorgeous craftsmanship!

  • Colt needs to start making this pistol again.

  • Seriously doubt the stippling was done one at a time by hand. Probably done with an air hammer.

  • @bddc201 Hi, thanks for the comment. The owner of the collection has it on record that it was done by hand at Colt's. At close examination one can see variation in the stipple pattern. Keep in mind at this point many processes were done by hand. The grips were hand checkered as well as hammers and slide stops.
