@boylover141 Well, we never get what we want and it's probably a good thing. Personally, I wish I had been born in 1851, not 1951--100 years before the advent of rock-n-roll and other frivolities. But "it is what it is" and I was born 100 years later than my preference. I'm a product of my times and so I do enjoy Tommy James!
I was around 14 when this song first came out! Oh, the memories! Me and my ex, my childhood sweetheart, tearing it up in his classic Ford Fairlane. Hangin with the other Dudes, with their fast cars. Going to the golden arches for a burger, makin out at the drive in! Those were the days. Greatest music the world will ever know from the 60s!
Beautiful music is beautiful music no matter what era or genre. Just sit back and groove. Be happy, and love the one you with. Can't get any better than that.
Ok guys, obviously you don't get it. The song means nothing about sex or drugs. Tommy James (lead singer) simply woke up one morning and thought of his favorite color: Crimson, and favorite flower: Clover. And he knew that was what he wanted the title of his next song to be, even before the song had any written lyrics. I know because my dad is close friends with Tommy. :)
if only music was like this now a days... i would love to stroll into a club and see people havin a boogie not grinding with their gun fingers in the air! o well a man can dream, a man dream.
@SolutionDDMC I consider myself among the lucky ones to have gotten to hear the music of the 60's on that old time AM home/car radio as it was being made/released.there is no going back and that is a shame. :+{ I still remember the first new school buses with radios',the old blue birds.now that was liven

@filipinobean so true.... and so depressing... I wish all these phukkin hip hop artists would just shoot each other and die... Give me my Doo Wop, Rock and Roll, Rockabilly, English beat music, psychedelia, Best of the 60s, 70s, Floyd/Tull/Zeppelin, some metal, grunge, best of the 80s... and the rest of them can go jump in a lake. Thank god for Eric Johnson, Satriani, Dream Theater...etc etc...some people are still making the good stuff.
@BloxorzWizard lol 2 hip hop artists died in the 90s you fkin lame..... I believe guns and people shooting eachother was around before hip hop, your mild passive racism is fun though yes?
@saintcharlezful Apparently you can't read idiot lol. I don't care how many of them died shooting each other... it's not enough. If I was a racist, I don't think that I'd be driving 24 miles to Inglewood every Monday and Friday night to play table tennis with the brothers in the hood... your logic doesn't hold water fool. I just don't like rap or the morons that make or produce it, white, black, brown, yellow or any color you choose.... period.
@BloxorzWizard Lol look I hit a nerve with the Grand Wizard hahahaha, I'll call you Michelle Pfeiffer helping out the hood and all, lol what a flaming fag
Music was better back then because we were better back then. We believed in things greater than ourselves like love, and commitment, and romance. Now we believe in nothing. We do not strive for love, or commitment. We strive for nothing but self, and modern music reflects this. We worship the god we see in the mirror, and little else. I don't know about your mirror, but my mirror reflects an imperfect being that isn't worth worshipping.
That's weird...My copy of this song drops down slightly in pitch right at 1:57. The first eight rapid "plucks" are in tune while the second eight are slightly flat. Then the solo is in tune with the new, lower pitch, before the tune snaps back up into the original pitch for the last verse. This version here on YouTube seems to have "fixed" that.
I always thought that it was an intended "psych" effect, just a slight "mind-warp" thing. But Wikipedia says it's due to a patch job of diff parts.
