I am reading on forums about how these pistols are NOT safe to carry with a round chambered and the safety off. Apparently they have no internal trigger/firing pin safeties and if the hammer is bumped or hit hard enough, the weapon will fire. One guy on p64source dropped his and it went off and hit him in the arm. However, I have read other posts from guys saying that they have tested their p64s and they are safe to carry with a round chambered and the safety off. Can you shed any light on this?
you ppl need to change the recoil and the trigger spring. Had to use both index fingers to pull in da,sa ok, Change of springs tp down to 6lb and hair trigger in da.
Please change your main spring to a lighter one because if you use the gun in a self defense situation case a lawyer COULD say that cocking the gun in single action mode creates a "hair trigger".
Be careful with the 9x18 cal pistols. Walthers produced a 9x18 in the 70's, but that is the Ultra9. Which is 9.1mm and the makarov is 9.2mm. Ordered mine today. The ruger sp101 is a stainless steel and a bitch for a ccw
Nice series, looking forward to the side-by-side review against the Bersa .380 as well, because I ALMOST got that, but bought this instead since it's $100 cheaper...and I like the power of the round for such a perfect CCW! Tnx
i like the surplus pistols,i own a couple makarovs and a p-64.they always function reliable and they are machined well.seems like they will last a long time

@Super87vet Well you can carry this gun with a round in the chamber after the hammer has been decocked and safety is on first time i hear this.

Factory mainspring is equivalent to a mack truck suspension spring, replace it with a wolff spring and its the supafix!

@20thcenturyfilmdocs Yeah dude this gun can't be beat for the price and the caliber a little better than the 380.
