CAN ANYONE, think of some sci fi books that are about 200 pages or less?????, but avoiding "short stories" the only book ive read was ringworld by larry niven and i loved it, i think that indicates that i like adventure ones, thankyou very much for helpful replies.
Sorry to disappoint you, OP, but this series would NEVER be turned into a film. It couldn't be. It's too verbal, too cerebral. And WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long to be a film, even a trilogy. It'd be like over 9000 films and people can't pay attention for ... ooh, a dust bunny!!
@ara9ond well, not very cerebral, in short, a man predicts a future problem and created a secret society that is responsible for protecting human knowledge, the ingredients are very seductive: an advanced civilization collapsing, artificial life forms that are expectant, a mental evolution able to dominate most primitive humans, and finally forgotten origin of man (the Earth) all that can be compressed easily.
@TheAguilaCommander I read those books decades ago, so I won't hold my breath for the Hollywood treatment. I think it would make a great franchise though.
@ara9ond But the books are being turned into a film, a trilogy I believe. But it's being directed by Roland Emmerich who's a supremely shitty director. He will ruin my beloved Foundation Series. And for that I will never forgive him.
@eraeniel Youtube gently allows you to use this music (of course without business benefit) helping you to respect bso´s. The bank is pretty nice. Really
@SIZZLEBIZZLE1982 read it in order, better you read Foundation after reading these ones, note Trantor Cicle: 1) Prelude to Foundation (1988) 2) Forward the Foundation 3) Foundation (1955) 4) Foundation & Empire 5) Second Foundation 6) Foundation Edge 7) Foundation and Earth. You have too much to enjoy and read. Of course, better if you start with Robot Cicle (8 books) he he he
It is the invariable lesson to humanity that distance in time, and in space as well, lends focus. It is not recorded, incidentally, that the lesson has ever been permanently learned.
I only hope that uor future will be as plain as Sir Isaak shown in his books. I think it will be much turbulent. We need to set up space deffences quickly couse we making too much sqaking lately. Dont think Universe is a calmn empty wastness, and as thriving with life someone eats someone eating..... We have cow slaves dog slaves etc. dont saying its bad just saying that is just how goes. I wuold prefer to climb the food ladder than t go down. brute force is a brute force, cant reason with it.
I love "Foundation" and the "Empire" novels...but really, Emmerich? He has not the brain for this kind of art! Give it to Peter Jackson, Spielberg or some one else with a record of carrying shit out with fucking up! Enough said
please for spaces sake dont let this movie ever get made. theres no way hollywood can make a good movie out of a book with several main characters that spans hundreds of years.
Nice video - thanks for making the last 7 minutes very special. I do love the music - I have an instrumental version of it but never heard the choral.
One very interesting person told me that Isaac Asimov described in his books/stories events that already happened in certain parallel universe. So it is not future but past. With this in mind his stories get new dimension and deeper meaning. Some of us were probably there
There are quite a number of promising science fiction movies ahead: The Stars,My Destination,The End Of Eternity,Mass Effect,Altered Carbon,The Martian Chronicles.Exciting times ahead!
It's about bloody time someone showed George Lucas how real SF stories are made. In the universe of Foundation, boring planet killers are just junk. Azimov demonstrates how to take control of a planet without firing a shot. Not sure teenaged American boys are going to like this message though. 'Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent'.
I believe this is a bad time to make the movie. The current trend (what viewers have been conditioned to expect) is to have sexy actors, lots of violence, fast paced action and overdone computer graphics effects. I am afraid they will try to outdo Terminator, Star Wars, Independence Day, and any other recent space combat movies they have seen.
If they dare to break the trend then the story may survive, and the movie will also be a lot cheaper to produce.
This is one that I'm surprised no one has made a film adaption for. The story is Star Wars-esque, and full of great writings... perfect for the silver screen.
Thank You very much AguilaCommander, The Foundation Trilogy is by far the best all time series ever to be produced by any sentient being. I would rather hope not that Emmerich does damage to the spirit of the "Empire/Foundation" books. At the very least Asimov's greatest work of art shall be given some dearly needed publicity, so that some young chap such as I could discover the books and read them for himself.
@scifi75 If you want to hear the original background music, play -"Batman Begins - Score called "Lasiurus"- in another window while you listen this video. @azpeitiapromotions This is a really nice comment im proud to receive. Most of the comments are really nice and I try to read everyone, even the opinion is good or bad. Once you read Issac Asimov inspiration comes easy. I was a teenager when I read Foundation Saga and Robot Cicle (and more books not related). Years ago there were no concepts like YouTube to run fine tribute. Movie-making Team not need my contribution, not really, they have enough "story" to be isnpired he he he. Thanks anyway.
They are going to ruin the story. One of the best pieces of science-fiction is going to get a brutal assrape from R.E and his 3-D vision. CGI and 3-D versions of Malow, Barr, Riose etc etc. Oh this is going to be shit
@RedAtlasman They have a choice. Remember Dune? You don't need advanced CGI to ruin a story. All you need is bad taste.
The Bicentennial Man could have been ruined (as the technology was available) but it wasn't. In essence the story survived. There is a chance that this may be good, but then a lot of people will be disappointed because an orgy of the latest effects is what they expect.
@RedAtlasman I hate to add more cynicism to this comment but arent you assuming that the movie will be made at all? 2011 has come and gone and i held my breath the whole damn year but there was no movie adaptation.
@TheAguilaCommander Hello AguilaCommander. From your last comment i assume that you have lost the faith you had a month ago. Thats a shame but i wont comment since that will only make me a hypocrite. Faith is not the same as hope though and i still have my fingers crossed (rather than holding my breath lol).
I agree and I think you explained true sci-fi very well. I may have come across a little harsh with the word "garbage" in relation to the more popular areas of sci-fi. I have enjoyed quite a few of the Star Trek and Star Wars novels myself. It is discouraging, however, when the sci-fi section at Borders has "Twilight" novels prominently displayed on the middle shelf and Asimov and the masters are relegated to the bottom shelf.
When I heard the revoltingly untalented Roland Emmerich was to adapt this sci-fi masterwork into an "Avatar style" explosion-driven film, my stomach contracted, I had difficulty breathing and I collapsed. Roland Emmerich!?, That's disgraceful.
Isaac Asimov was the first and only who have a probable vision about a distant future depending on our predictable evolution. Total respect. In our days SF-related content adress the apocaliptic ideea in near future, nothing compared to a story about 4/5000 years from now. And if someone do a movie about the trilogy it will be far less than your personal imagination reading the story...
DONT READ THIS CAUSE IT REALLY WORKS.YOU WILL GET KISSED ON THE NEAREST POSSIBLE FRIDAY BY THE LOVE OF UR LIFE.TOMORROW WILL BE THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE.HOWEVER IF YOU DONT POST THIS COMMENT TO AT LEAST 3 VIDEOS OR YOU WILL DIE WITHIN 2 DAYS.NOW UV STARTED READIN DIS DUNT STOP THIS IS SO SCARY.SEND THIS OVER TO 5 VIDEOS IN 143 MINUTES WHEN UR DONE PRESS F6 AND UR CRUSHES NAME WILL APPEAR ON THE SCREEN IN BIG LETTERS.THIS IS SO SCARY BUT REALLY WORK
yet a random guy makes a documentary with hard evidence and is serious about it, no one comes to publisize him. or give him news footage and when they do, they make him look crazy and crack a joke about it on talkshow
I think his Genious has come from within and is truely worth sharing with the world. but i belong to a group that believes humans are nothing but a parasite that feeds off what food they can fill themselves with. for example: 2012 apparently we are going to die BUT they make a movie to profit off of.
For me, the Fundation's Saga is closer to a videogame than a film o serie. You may get more benefith or knowledge... A film should be a door of Asimov's World nd his teachins.
I wouldn't like to see any part of the foundation as a single Hollywood movie. Not even in a trilogy. No matter how good the director would be, these stories were not meant to be on screen. Also I really fear that it gets in the hands of a bad director and it will become something similar to the "I, Robot" movie...
@kicsiqki I don't quite agree. The Foundation books could make a brilliant film, but unfortunately a brilliant film is not what we are going to get, once it became clear Emmerich is attached to the project.
@kicsiqki Look the positive side to this. I didn't become aware of asimov after i found out i robot was based on a book. I now have pretty much every book Asimov has ever written( even the educational ones lol). This could expose new generations to the genius asimov is. Just sayin.
@chemoman1 I became aware of Isaac Asimov in the book of section at a Target store in 1986 when I was 11. He made me aware that true, good science fiction exists. I think for us fans who discover him, and I'll sound a bit snide for saying so, is that we cross over from the garbage of sci-fi to the stuff of intellect and imagination.
@scifi75 I'll be honest, I enjoy my mind numbing mainstream warhammer 40k books from time to time, but stuff like Asimov, K. Dick, Ursula K leguin, Bujold and Frederick Pohl is what "true" sci fi is all about; engaging stories, well developed characters and setting and thought provoking underlaying themes. Most "true"sci fi is that, a sort of a commentary on trends and events, political, social and economical, as well as philosophical and how they could evolve in the future. Man I <3 sci fi.

That music was beautiful.
And the art is just tragic, gorgeous, lonely...
Reminds me how infinitely vast our universe truly is...
What really IS out there?

Beautifully done! I've read the Foundation Trilogy, now I'm going to have to go read it again.
What sound track did you use? I am overwhelmed! Listening to it is like being in another place and time.
Thank you.

yet a random guy makes a documentary with hard evidence and is serious about it, no one comes to publisize him. or give him news footage and when they do, they make him look crazy and crack a joke about it on talkshow

I think his Genious has come from within and is truely worth sharing with the world. but i belong to a group that believes humans are nothing but a parasite that feeds off what food they can fill themselves with. for example: 2012 apparently we are going to die BUT they make a movie to profit off of.
SpaceManSpliff93 1 year ago
For me, the Fundation's Saga is closer to a videogame than a film o serie. You may get more benefith or knowledge... A film should be a door of Asimov's World nd his teachins.
XeroinPrime 1 year ago
I wouldn't like to see any part of the foundation as a single Hollywood movie. Not even in a trilogy. No matter how good the director would be, these stories were not meant to be on screen. Also I really fear that it gets in the hands of a bad director and it will become something similar to the "I, Robot" movie...
kicsiqki 1 year ago
@kicsiqki I don't quite agree. The Foundation books could make a brilliant film, but unfortunately a brilliant film is not what we are going to get, once it became clear Emmerich is attached to the project.
SneakyDudeBG 1 year ago
@kicsiqki Look the positive side to this. I didn't become aware of asimov after i found out i robot was based on a book. I now have pretty much every book Asimov has ever written( even the educational ones lol). This could expose new generations to the genius asimov is. Just sayin.
chemoman1 1 year ago
@chemoman1 I became aware of Isaac Asimov in the book of section at a Target store in 1986 when I was 11. He made me aware that true, good science fiction exists. I think for us fans who discover him, and I'll sound a bit snide for saying so, is that we cross over from the garbage of sci-fi to the stuff of intellect and imagination.
scifi75 1 year ago
@scifi75 I'll be honest, I enjoy my mind numbing mainstream warhammer 40k books from time to time, but stuff like Asimov, K. Dick, Ursula K leguin, Bujold and Frederick Pohl is what "true" sci fi is all about; engaging stories, well developed characters and setting and thought provoking underlaying themes. Most "true"sci fi is that, a sort of a commentary on trends and events, political, social and economical, as well as philosophical and how they could evolve in the future. Man I <3 sci fi.
