I was in 2nd and 3rd grade in 1968 at ocs and then 5th grade.I remember guys and joes,we would call it flies and moes, and then there was chicken on the wheels and peros(the toy store, I lost my year books from ocs 30 years ago,, I would give anything to see pics from the old school or does anyone have any yearbooks to borrow,, i would pay big money to buy them,I have so many childhood memoris of tripoli and playing little league baseball
great, great, great, lived in Geogimpopoli 66 to 69 until ghadafi came. went out three days after he took power, met him in the lobby of the grand hotel libya, when he inspected the foreigners!!1 had the same good times and great life there as you described.. started school in tripoli, and ate at wheelus also... wow
thank you so much for posting this beautiful video, the music was the best final touch, tripoli or some know it as the city oya is my home city and this video brought tears to my eyes, my home is actually next to the oil company school, and my house was built in 1960 when that area just had the school and was empty land and we could ride horse back on the sandy beach, i love libya and i hope it can be what it was supposed to be, one of the best places on earth
Many thanks fot sharing this video with us. Its reminds us how beautifull & peaceful Libya was before the mad dog came & destroyed what good we had & left it uncared for. Hope to bring it back to its former glory & to invite you guys back for a visit or stay...
Thank you for sharing this!! I lived in Tripoli in the late 70's and went to OCS. An amazing place. I made many Libyan friends and am grateful for the love and respect the experience instilled in me for Arab culture. I try to be a voice of reason among ignorant fellow Americans. I hope all the best for Libyans today.
Thanks for this video. I lived in Giorgimpopoli as well from 1966 to 1970 and I was very young, so this pictures are the only way to see again where I spent my first years of life and my family many more years.
This makes me so sad too! I lived there as a very small child in the mid 50's. Age 3 to 5ish. And the El Mirage is one of my earliest memories. Remember that outdoor stage at the El Mirage? I used to play on it when it was too hot for most people to be outside! And when I was there you could watch outdoor movies on the beach. Did they still do that in the 6o's? We were British but my dad worked at the store at Wheelus Airforce Base. Very poignant stuff!
Oh my God what a Beautiful place it was My Grand father was in Cambodia just as Pol Pot took over it was beautiful too look it up,such a pity A great country with a Dictator that does not know its time to say good by.. I think Daffiness has looted enough cash for him and his family.....
