  • ROD STEWART and his first band !

un des EP les plus rares !

  • Like everyone else, I am so glad to see this uploaded. It was played quite a bit on pirate radio but like so many wonderful records missed out because the BBC Light programme controlled the charts. Thank you.

  • i love peter and this is a real treat pre fleetwood mac this is classic thank you very much as i collect vinyl and ive been waiting along time to here the shotgun express

  • Mod as!

  • fantastic song...a missed hit

  • A "beauty" indeed

  • The New Vaudeville Band, total shit, were at #4 at the same time this blue-eyed soul beauty was shaving the top 50 of the British singles chart. Fucks sake!

  • Beautifully done song. Very creative--this was an excellent use of classical instruments in a pop song. Thank you very much for posting this gem!

  • So many memories, I knew all the guys, went to gigs with them. Wish it was the 60s again!

  • ... actually it did make a 2-week appearance in the Disc Top 50 and peaked at 46. Nonetheless ... it should've been a huge hit.

  • Superb production ... realeased in October 1966 and completely missed the UK Top 50 ... no justice!

  • i see shotgun express at the ram jam club in brixton.

  • I couldn't hear "the Green goods guitar". This recording must been to early in his career.

  • @v4lasse Peter Green played bass in SE!

  • @phddddd Thanks, phddddd!

  • Peter bardens was a member later he founds camel, one of the best

  • the old rod stewart kicked so much ass back then. rod the mod.

  • Im 32 and I love rod and the mighty peter green.

cant believe they were once in aband together.

    thanks i Gaucho....brilliant post

  • @FUDCHOPS See above. Peter Green played bass in Shotgun Express.

  • @phddddd Are you sure? He might've covered sometimes but i think Dave Ambrose was on bass.

  • @Harmonicajello Not when I saw them in a pub in Bethnal Green.

  • @phddddd Sorry i didn't get back right before now. As you were there, you lucky devil you, what can i say? I thought that i was correct but i bow to your being there. I hate it when i think i'm right and i'm actually not. Ta for straightening me out, i should've acknowledged this sooner. All the best.

  • This is good. Never heard it before.

  • Love it thanks...

  • Quite astonishing that this didn't even get into the top 50!

  • Definitely has the sound and feel of The Mama's and the Papa's , Dusty Springfield , Petula Clark , Lulu , kinda Pop .... You Dig??

  • me parece reconocer a uno de los tres de la portada, pero a lo mejor me equivoco

  • Thanx so much for posting this song, I've been after this song for ages, brilliant!!!! but never knew who sang it, was Rod Stewart one of the band members????

  • Yes Rod Stewart was a member of this very short lived band and also included:

    Peter Bardens, Peter Green,

    Mick Fleetwood, Dave Ambrose,

    Phil Sawyer and Beryl Marsden

  • I believe Peter Green played bass guitar in this group ... correct? I always thought Jeremy Spencer played lead. It's been a long time ago -- but they were an extremely good pub band.

  • is this available on CD?

  • @tonyhorn I cant remember if Peter Bs Looners came before or after Shotgun Express. Got a feeling the 'Looners' came first but it was a long time ago! Mick Fleetwood & Peter Green were in the Looners too. They all did go on to better things xcept poor Pete Bardens who died far too young. Plenty of talent there!

  • Great great song. The composer of this song was Colton/Smith..former members of the band Heads Hands and Feet. If you also check the recording you will see that Ray Smith also sang and played gutiar on this recording. JoJo Smith rays wife:)

  • Rods finest moment

  • Brilliant 45! Oddly it got a US release on the Uptown label of all places (home of a Chocolate Watchband 45 or two!).

  • Really great unusual song that had great talent in the group as well.

  • finaly!

  • I hear ya Brotha!

  • Great sounds.

    They don't make "pop"hits like

    this anymore.

    Simon Dupree,Brian Auger,The nice.

    The list goes on.

  • hell yeah simon dupree. later gental giant. killer

  • I have been trying to find this online for a few years now - so many thanks. I agree that this is not a classic but it has a place in my memories. I saw that band live when it was a chart hit in the mid 60s and haven't heard it since.

  • Marvellous! You are an absolute star for posting this.

  • Thank you. I will put up the "B" side of this record soon "Curtains"
