What people forget is that these girl love doing what they are doing just ask any gymnast. It's hard work and with hard work comes the rewards Gymnastic's is one of the toughest sports.

It involves precision in every jump. This will lead to frustration and disappointment and every day can submit a different result and the reasons can vary from injury to just not feeling right on the day. However trying to convey the impression that it is HELL is total misrepresentation of a challenging pursuit:)

elite sports is just wrong...see all these girls for example who don't succeed and feel like their world comes to an end... trainers make athletes to have such a competitive behavior that it finally makes them neurotic..

Sure, it's always fun to watch the "monkeys" in the circus, but who wonders what training did these monkeys go through and how it finally affected them?

and sometimes it's not their choice, it's the only chance to a better life... especially if it's about Russia..

@nimbusf elite sports is not wrong. true only a hand full succeed but the values and responsibilities learned in sports will last a life time. There are ruff times and sometimes you feel miserable but, especially in this sport, you can never succeed unless you really want it. No matter how much you get pushed or how much talent you have you will never succeed unless you really want it. thats why we suffer through the pain and frustration.

People kept say that gynmastic is hard! Yes it is, but it totaly worth. When we win all the pain, all the hours that we spend training, it's nothing.

Russian Gynmastic are great and I sure that they are pround of what they do.

i am russian and i did gymnastics for 7 years then i broke my arm at the training. now i am doing ballet. it is not hell.-if you really want to do it- its not heaven but not hell.

@jeeaaman Yeah, this dude who was in bodybuilding was on TV and he was showing all kinds of skills that you had to do and then he did the "hardest ever skill" that he only could do 5 of in a row and he did a push up in a handstand postition with his feet to the wall, I laughed out loud!

Trust me- it is torture, but if you want it it is worth the pain. I would know, I trained in Moscow before I moved to England last year. It isn't just coaches who push u in Russia though, school teachers and parents also push hard (not my parents though). They often have a battle plan of what job u will do, where u will study and stuff like that. That is why Russia is successful at lots of things, cause we don't lounge around and wait for others to do all the work, we always try to win.

- silver and bronze in floor

And Russia won "NOTHING IN ANYTHING," we can safely assume the they are way way behind. Case closed.

Russian coaches use child abuse to make their students be the best because if the students do something wrong the coaches beat them. Everything has to be perfect. The title is 100% true.

And I've seen a lot of nudity on Russian TV (Naked and Ridiculous). You are very mistaken and bigoted in your grossly absurd generalizations about Americans. Many of us grew up with parents from other cultures and we kiss each other. I am sick of all the anti-Americanism and the anti-Asianism here!
