  • @Ichan90a thanks for sharing! I'm so excited to see this clip. But I just can recognize only one guy. She's lok yeay Leas (she's the best giant role). Unfortunately she's gone away. On the third next month we celebrate her died for 1yr.

  • @Dapong1777

youre welcome! glad you like this video. im sorry about the loss of lok yeay Leas, may my condolence be with you guys. =(

  • good documentary film. so glad to see Khmer history and culture awareness.

  • awhs, the lil' girl is so adorable XD

  • It's Mme Ros Sary, and I'm pretty sure.

  • Hello,

Mme Ros Sary is in the middle. The other one on the right I can't remember, she played as a man.

    Best wishes

  • @ sivhengu : Thanks for your answer.

  • I remember the name of the dancer in the front: Mme. Ros Sary. I used to watch her during my childhood year. During Khmer Rouge time, I also met another master: Mme Pan Nan, her husband was taken away and killed. I used to work with her during Pol Pot.

  • wow what a nice story! thank your for sharing with us!

  • @sivhengu * Your comment is very useful. At 0:38 which dancer is Mme Ros Sary ? Do you know the name of the Master teacher on the left ? Thank you. Merci (je parle français).

  • @sivhengu I thought she was Neak Meneang Bunnak who also danced Moni Mekhala, or do they look similar?

  • I think I'm pretty sure that's Mme Ros Sary because I used to watch her very up close, let's say behind the curtain on stage. And the next day they put her pictures up at Khosnaka in Battambang (with my picture next to the curtain!) and my dad found out that I sneaked out, the rest was history! Got spanked of course!

  • Back in the old days, there are no male dancer. Thety used women that have bigger frames similar to men as male dancer.

  • yes indeed.

  • 0:32 She's cute!!!

  • yes she is!.....lol

  • You have a big collection of great khmer oldies and documentaries. Thanks for giving us a chance to see these fantastic videos.

  • you're very welcome!

  • So women play both roles in these dances?

  • yes, except for the monkey and sometimes the yek (giant) roles.

  • I wounder if any of these masters survived to teach after the khmer rouge

  • some sources stated that only 10% of remaining master artists survived the khmer rouge regime. so thats why these Khmer classical arts are so rare to the world.

  • the little girl was so cute!!!

  • Very nice ! it's interesting to me ! Thanks !
