My alpine amp works best with 2 ohms, but I'm running 4, so it not at its max power, I went to 300 Watt RMS cuz of the ohms, 2 ohm @ 500 watt RMS is my preference though...lol

A amp overheats because it does get sufficient current. put a 200 amp alt on whatever it is ur driving and u would never overheat an amp on such everyday setups. if u get more radical, power caps, extra batteries would be needed. im not being a dick, i just see so many people asking this question when it doesnt have anything to do with the amp, with sufficient current, it wont even get warm to the touch
Im feeling that digital alpine amp runnin the subs. I have a Mrp-m1000 running my 2 type r 12s and my pdx-f4 is running my speakers, i can only imagine that with how clean the sound shooting to the speakers is that the subs would hit HARD.
The system has been out of that car for a while now, I currently have one type r in my crew cab f250 powered by the pdx1000 and boston pro 60's powered by a pdx100.4. SOUNDS AMAZING! Nothing beats the sound quality

Good setup man, that ported box works well with the type r's. I would just build a nice amp rack and relocate the amp so you won't have a hard time if you need to take out the spare tire.
You mean the Jack Hammers? Honestly, in my opinion, no round MTX sub beats the Alpine Type R besides the TR85, T8500, and the T9500. I've installed the Jack Hammers in my buddy's car and not only are the Type R's far more capable of producing louder bass, but they are far more capable of producing much lower bass as well.

I have had these subs for about 3 years now pounding on them with the pdx1000.1 everyday and no problems at all, just recently i put only one in my truck, sealed box the pdx pushing only 1 sub at 2ohms and it has good to me for more than 3 months with no problems
Haha, these subwoofers can handle 1800 watts and the alpines have a high ohm load so imagine 1800 dampered down. Your friend got it done by some retard who either tries to bridge subwoofers together to reduce ohm load (not safe) or he just figured a red and black wire would suffice. However, any system properly tuned and balanced, will maintain a long life. Your friend probably played the shit out of them before he broke them in. His fault.

Good setup man, that ported box works well with the type r's. I would just build a nice amp rack and relocate the amp so you won't have a hard time if you need to take out the spare tire.

You mean the Jack Hammers? Honestly, in my opinion, no round MTX sub beats the Alpine Type R besides the TR85, T8500, and the T9500. I've installed the Jack Hammers in my buddy's car and not only are the Type R's far more capable of producing louder bass, but they are far more capable of producing much lower bass as well.

I have almost the same setup.....type r 12's, farad 2000w capacitor, but im running a hyfonics 1500w amp bridged, and also running the stock stereo. Going to be putting a screen in there soon as well as replacing the door speakers.

I have had these subs for about 3 years now pounding on them with the pdx1000.1 everyday and no problems at all, just recently i put only one in my truck, sealed box the pdx pushing only 1 sub at 2ohms and it has good to me for more than 3 months with no problems

Haha, these subwoofers can handle 1800 watts and the alpines have a high ohm load so imagine 1800 dampered down. Your friend got it done by some retard who either tries to bridge subwoofers together to reduce ohm load (not safe) or he just figured a red and black wire would suffice. However, any system properly tuned and balanced, will maintain a long life. Your friend probably played the shit out of them before he broke them in. His fault.

nice. i love r types so im gonna tell u something that u need to fix. GET A BIGGER AMP!!! if u under power your subs then you will burn out the voice coils faster than if you over power it. I have one ten r type with a 1200 watt amp.

How high do you have the gain set to? Also, do you recommend the pdx 1000.1?? It looks like it pounds pretty good!! I have a 2003 Mitsubishi Galant with a JL setup...makes my lights dim like a mofo!!
