When it comes to Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, I'm with Gandalf and Legolas. Episodes 4-6 are fantastic, too bad 1-3 are a complete waste of time, money, energy, everything. LOTR is amazing the whole way through.

Hilarious as this is the lord of the rings is an amazing trilogy and no it wasn't all about people walking, there was lots of walking involved because they were going on a long journey in a medieval setting and that's how people got around back then.
@loadedjogger 1-3 are about Ankin becoming Darth Vadar and it explains what happend to all the Jedi. 4-6 is about Luke finding out who is dad is and what his place is within the Jedi world.
I love the original trilogy, of the Jedi. But I am annoyed by the addition Lucus made of the ewoks, only so that he could in turn sell them as plush toys after the Return of The Jedi released. And then there is the strange similarities in how the Ewoks(little guys far away from all experiences), end up helping the rebellion stop the empire and save the galaxy. Much like the hobbits(more little guys normally left to their own devices) along with the rest of the fellowship save the overworld.
Everyone knows Star Wars was the best movie Saga ever written. Not to mention George Lucas also helped make Indiana Jones, another great Saga. Peter Jackson did a remake of "Donkey" King Kong. Honestly, George wins for his imagination..and in second place is....Micheal Bay lol
In my opinion it would be, 4-6 star wars, first Indiana Jones trilogy and then Back to the Future. (Thank god they will be leaving the Futures alone so they can retain all of their respect.)

George Lucas, unlike Peter Jackson, does not need any stinking academy reward, the dollar bills speak oterwise, (worldwide) first SW trilogy earned over 1,8 million $, which was before fall of the Iron Curtain, and LotR earned barely 3 mil. $ in after 2000. Considering economic and demographic changes, SW beats LotR in earnings and popularity. Although we can all agree, both trilogies beat Twilight's ass.
