You seem pretty intelligent, intelligent enough to have figured out this movie on the first watch like the rest of us. I get the feeling that you're majorly overdramatizing, there are much more confusing movies than this. Save these complaints for Eraserhead.
Also Johnny Depp is portraying one of the geniuses of his time Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. Now if you would have done research truly you'd understand it. You obviously don't so please don't try and "get" this film, your too young and obviously are closed off if this is what you do in your spare time so go read a book or something else.
