@weedvulva True, I do steal and I'm a liar. Both true statements. I fess up... Damn I never read this after my initial comment. Good discussion. But Vulva, you read my mail!
Sampling (in my opinion) helps revive the magical works of brothers like David Axelrod, who people may have forgotten 'bout through the flux of artists 'n diff'rent types of musical genres that were comin' about afta his time (musical career). To me, it's all 'bout how U sampled the music, 'n how U flip'n it in ur music. Jus' don't take 'n loop a big whole piece like how P. Diddy start'd doin' in his Bad Boy regime!!! To me, he kinda destroy'd the art of looping!!!
@emdott44 Yes sir...back in the early/mid 90s, I was a sampling phanatic (since I was a dj, I kno' mad songs of all kinds of genre; but when they start'd jackin' songs outright wit' no kinda direction wit' it (basically, abusing the laws of looping), I fell out from it, 'n start'd doin' more original stuff wit' bits 'n pieces of samples mix'd. But, I rememba when DJ Marley Marl & Ced Gee (from Ultramagnetic) was first pioneering the art of chop'n ur shit--that's how it was supposed to B done!!!
damn homie get your dyslexia checked out or stop drinking or something. people cant agree with you if they can barely decipher whatever the fuck your trying to say. and sampling is not dead, there's plenty of sampling going on, sure a lot of it is whack crap just cashing in on the popularity of a song but theres still plenty of good shit out there. i will agree that its not usually on the radio though, with the exception of an occasional jay-z track or dre or alc track that slips through.
times and technology have changed bro, sampling came out of necessity as there weren't many other options short of real instruments. now with all the computer programs, vst's, mp3's p2p sites yada yada, its only natural for some things to branch into other directions. i hate the radio more than anyone and i usually prefer sampled tracks but im not opposed to non sampled joints if they're dope and not the radio garbage.
I never said you were dumb, I just said you had some issues with your spelling, as does the majority of this generation, so don't feel left out, you're not alone. As for you LD, sorry buddy, life's a bitch sometimes.
Does everyone else from Duham NC have spelling problems too?! God damn people, learn to write, can't understand a damn thing you're trying to say. I Can try to READ CAREFULLY like you said, but your sh*t don't make sense. Go back to school or something, sh*t!
Say word..that's what wrong with the culture..Nobody appreciates the legacy..of these artists...I love some hiphop//but Damn...enough with the snitching..get a job @ "strickly breaks" or "diggin'" records
No. Hip hop, being a type of music, is life. Axelrod is a genius. Those who sample Axelrod are geniuses in their own right, too. To live is to love many thing and it is because of hip hip cats listen to good stuff like this.
people who sample him arent geniuses. are you saying lil wayne is a genius? he is semi retarded. hip hop is not a life either. listening to hip hop isnt going to get you a job, a car, a house, money. listening to music is just a hobby
Llil wayne is not a producer... he is a rapper... also you have no idea what hip hop is if you think it's what the media has made it to be nowadays... culture is not a means of existence, it substantiates it. Life is not money, contrary to popular belief...
what is life then? i listen to alot of rap but im sick and tired of all these people on youtube telling me that hip hop is life and all this other bullshit. ive probably listened to more rap than you have . fuck mainstream rap. i already know. but rap isnt a way of life. if it is..then your living a crappy life
casonsha i feel on that hip hop is inspired by every genre i like new and orginal samplin is just one part of it. it makes you respect music more but how is it wrong when hiphop artist do but many rock and pop group rework a older song and get all the praise? stop being closed minded and embrace each other styles
Hip hop loves this music. It's not hurting this music. You know how many people look for the original version to hip hop songs they like and then buy the original too. I do, so there's gotta be more like me. I love hip hop and I love this too. I like to see how ppl can flip a song - maybe cuz I produce too.
You're not the only one. I love Hip Hop but I generally love music overall. This is serenity, making the proper instrumental with it would be great but the original never loses its touch even when it's sampled.
everyone stop rippin off old samples and play something orignal, david alxerod has given enough to hip hop and dance already with dre rippin off his work on the edge, taking an 8 bar loop from the song and making a ''whole new song '' out of it
doesnt stop him ripping him off, what everyone liked about the next episode was the sample of the edge that the whole song was based on, and im not saying that its always a bad thing but every song is based on a sample now, and u can hear it - hip hops shit nowadays
Wow thats a good one.I don't even have this on a mixtape.I need this on vinyl!!!I know it was used by DITC a remix to Diamon D - The Hiatus. Respect to you for having such good music up.
If the concept of sampling/sound collage is too much for your withered lizard brain, just think of it as a "cover song."

@chunchlover David Axelrod and Lil' Wayne can't be compared.
2 differe genres, 2 different time periods, 2 different audiences.
Not much in common if you ask me.
BobSpotOn 1 year ago 2
@BobSpotOn Lil Wayne is also NOT a hip hop artist but a pop artist who is a rapper...IMHO there's a big difference between an MC and a popstar.
