Thank you for keeping your post real as some many people have this impression that having natural hair is easy to manage and that you will automatically have all these creative styles and that one should wear their hair curly. I'm in the process of transitioning and I have a feeling that I will probably flat iron my straight. But having the knowledge that there are no chemicals in it will keep me going chemical free!
i am doing the BIG chop tonight with my husband's help!!! you look great and i have only been growing it out for 6 months. thanks for being an inspiration!!!!
you get 5 stars from me for keeping it real and putting yourself out there to let other people be prepared. hopefully my hair will be that long in year. 5 more months to go. (transition)
I've decided to go natural. My last relaxer was on 11/4/09. My plan is to gradually transition to natural hair. Can you suggest some hair styles I can wear while transitioning.
I saw your comment and had to tell you to type in twistout, braidout, transitioning and natural in youtube search box. You can also look at all the people I suscribed to which are mostly naturals and transitioners talking about products and hair. LOL
lyndaespratley is the user who started the challenge and she has a video for it. I did a video response to that video called I'm on the Healthy Hair Challenge
I did a video and joined the facebook group, you dont have to do a vid, but you can just join the facebook group- a lot of people are already on there now
You did a great job on your hair. That is actually where i'd like my new growth to be when I BC, I was going to go 12 months but I may have to do 14 or 15mos. hubby doesnt want me to BC at all, so I dunno it's going to be long road it seems. I better busy my self with other things! Great job, so much body too!
definitely keep busy with other stuff, I spent too much time preocupied with my hair and wound up giving up one time because I was trying too much stuff
Im very self conscious about my small ears so a big bald head wouldnt work for me, which is why I transitioned for more than year--- if you go that long you will have plenty of hair to work with
actually it was about 14 months (i just rounded it out to a year) but yea... it was about 6-8 inches of hair
I still had some straight ends sticking out in the back that I chopped off the next day. So after I did that my hair was about an inch shorter than in this video.
it used to be hard but after I have cut it so much in 2 years I just got used to it. I been at the same hair length since like 2007 but I have a whole different head of hair. This "big chop" is just the final cut after all that time, I would have been scared as hell to have cut off 9 inches of hair when I started lol... this time it was only about half that
congrats!! it's still pretty, thick, and long! you'll get used to it...thanks for being honest about how you felt after the big chop...not everyone is happy immediately after, and it's good to know in case i have the same kind of feelings when i'm done transitioning. enjoy your natural hair!
yea thanks Im definitely still getting used to it. Im soooo glad its over though. Once you do it you cant go back and all you have to do is wait for your hair to grow out
I remember you from LHCF. You were one of my favorite posters. I just came across your videos from doing a search for Brazillian keratin treatment. Anyway great progress your hair looks nice. I like the background pic of you in the black and white striped shirt. You look pretty that's a good picture.
Aww thanks, that keratin treatment sounds scary I was researching it too. I wont be trying it, I saw somebody died from the fomaldehyde fumes because she slept on it for 3 days without washing.
how many months post relaxer were you before you did the big chop?
