sick move, it's like a choke bar, like when you spin into that it looks like your going for an arm bar except it's a tight choke, gonna use this one when I roll.
Matt's a good uke...clearly by the end of these demonstrations, he's looking a little beat...yet he continues to be a good, supine partner for these workouts.
Your vids are great...I always look forward to the next one. :)
dear submissions101 i can honestly say this choke works today was my 5th lesson at ralph gracie jiu jitsu in dublin today and i was rolling against a white belt my size that had been training for 9 months i for got my set up but i got his back in kind of a turtle postion i went to get hooks but he blocked his neck from the rear naked so i remebered this vid i reached a cross pulled his collar thrumy leg over leaned back and just like that he tapped before i hit the ground thank u for the vid
How would I be able to apply this in MMA? Would it work if I gripped my hands after stepping my foot over and rolling backward? I wanna try this move, but the place I train at only does no-gi...
the big problem i see is the first transition over his back. It seems, though I cant tell, like he could easily start rolling when u prop yourself up. What could you do to prevent this from happening?
@HYPExORxDIEXX i cant see it working unless they have some sort of shirt on. so in a ufc style match it probably does not. but in a street fight it might work.
@waldomarek unless you live at the beach during summer, most people wear shirts but I see what you are saying. this move is more for gi grappling competition
you should show this from a sitting position or from the back with hooks. I have an idea in my head on how both would work and think it would be awsome to show. As well a transition if a single wing choke fails.
how would you be able to take down fat people lol i hate it cuz im skinny and fat people push me around but its cuz there fat.it sucks cuz i work out and they eat so im like dam.
@AdeleVEVVO I wouldn't agree with this statement. Of course, ANY move can be countered. I know bjj players purple and higher, that never get caught in arm bars or triangle chokes. Would we say that armbars and triangles 'only work at low levels?" Repetition of moves makes them dangerous. The SET UPS make them dangerous. Absolute statements like these don't have a place in jiu jitsu in my opinion. Everyone must develop their own game and not all moves will work on all people all the time.
@Submissions101 i agreee. it reminds me of the quote "i fear not the man who's practiced 10,000 kicks 1 time. i fear the man who's practiced 1 kick 10,000 times." great videos, i've been subscribed forever, and the videos have helped me a lot. I have one question though. Is there a variation you could use for no-gi? Im going in to law enforcement and i find a lot of BJJ practical, and when i need a fast "go-to" move, this would be nice.
@Submissions101 The problem with this is that even if properly placed, it is still easy to defend against while a properly placed arm bar or triangle is not. There is a reason you do not see this move at the highest levels of grappling. Do you not find it odd that no one is going for this? This move is nothing new, even you noted that. While I will probably try this out for fun, I believe it is a low percentage move to both pull off and submit your opponent with.
@AdeleVEVVO The most basic things work if set up correctly. Transitions are an important tool so you can bounce back and fourth between techniques and trick your opponent. Baret Yoshida can transition armbars and triangles over and over until he catches his prey in one of them.
@LordNifty This technique only works if the opponent stays turtled. That is why it is such a useless technique, unless your partner is utterly exhausted or an absolute beginner.
@itscarl0zyall1 NOPE, it's best with a GI for training purposes...but if your wearing a shirt of any king, T-Shirt, Collar shirt it will work...only thing is, will the material hold up.
If the guy has a beard, you can grab that too, whatever works is how I roll
Can this be done without a gi? And if so could you show us how please? That would be great thanks
Hhswrestler99 2 months ago
I think you might as well go for the tornado clock choke since it starts from the exact same position and is harder to escape.
Momentimum 3 months ago
When you have it tight and you move fast, the opponent cannot turn into you. It will be too late. If you do it weak or slow, then yes, he can turn.
blue67strm 3 months ago
nice move, but very easy to escape
marcosinemb 3 months ago
This choke doesn't actually work unless you underhook the arm on the side you fall to, this prevents your opponent rolling towards you and escaping.

Doesn't BJJ rules forbid chokes with fingers
scottyiscute 5 months ago
@scottyiscute its not fingers... its the gi and the leg that do the choke
RsXdRiFt 4 months ago
@scottyiscute Its a choke with the collar of his gi, not his fingers.

@508Reggie His black belt is not in BJJ. Purple is his BJJ rank under Kieth Owen and Pedro Sauer.

Would I be correct in saying this is basically a Peruvian Neck Tie but using the opponent's collar instead of your arm?

Nice,is ther a way to do that if a person does not have a collar?

Uzu70 6 months ago
@Uzu70 very similar, but this the suicide choke is quicker, and your opponent have to wear a gi for it to work.
personally that makes me kind of dislike the move even though it's awesome..

how could this move be modified so that it works for MMA fighting. Seems like a quick way to get a submission in the cage
Vinny369 6 months ago
@Vinny369 It's a collar choke so that might prove a bit difficult for a no gi application.
