With all of the Mackenzie Phillips press this year, I've seen a lot of old interviews with everyone except Cass, only a few with her since she died so young. But, Denny and Michelle both say that John knew was going to be what he lived on for many years to come. They all actually knew that it was a brilliant song but when they were just recording it and performing it early on they didn't know it would be an anthem almost 40 years later.
