And what do you guys think about Tim Krul (Newcastle United) and Mitchell Langerak (Dortmund). I'm Dutch btw, and fan of Ajax and Dortmund :P..

@M3nni3m3n There were a lot of rumours about transferring Stekelenburg to ManU. He would be the perfect successor of Van Der Sar. You shouldn't forget though that VD Sar played at Juventus and Fulham before he went to Manchester. But I was convinced that Stekelenburg was de best option. Luckily (as I'm an Ajacied myself) David De Gea was signed so Maarten could stay another year in Amsterdam. I can't say anything about Krul and Langerak. I haven't seen Krul that much, and Langerak not at all yet

He has some great reflexes which many teams would envy that they don't have someone like Valdes on goal. He sure isn't top notch, but a good one.I don't think he costs Barcelona points, they wouldn't have to replace him.

@Andyslidez I personally would say that Casillas and Julio Cesar are by far the two best goalkeepers in the world. Behind them there is a big group af tremendous goalies. Cech (never the same after his injury), Buffon and Van der Sar aren't anymore on the same level they used to be. At the moment I would say that Buffon still is the number three in the world, but it won't last long before Dutch number one Maarten Stekelenburg will take that third position.

Reinas not as good as Cech, Casillas or Buffon, but hes good.

In my personal opinion, I prefer Casillas, hes skill at reflex saves and set-piece saves are amazing, Buffon may be better though.

Theres still the young talent to think about aswell though, Wayne Hennessey, Igor Akinfeev, Sergio Asenjo and Scott Loach all look very promising.

I agree Buffon has been the best in the past - 10 Years, but his time as the best is over, Casillas is the best now, Cech closely behind, with Akinfeev rising.

The best keepers of history are Ravelli, Schmeicel and Yashin.

This is purely unbiased, I'm a Liverpool supporter, Reina, nowhere as good as Casillas and Buffon, but its true, Casillas is the best presently.

Well, that is your opinion. Everyone got his own oponion about different goalkeeping styles. Buffon is a bit eccentric in my opinion. I prefer safer goalkeepers; Van der Sar, Reina, Stekelenburg.

But the most important thing is, that it is impossible to say who is the best. It's not judgable by a number/grade or something like that.

Golie is the most difficult position. There are few vidoes that show how great they are - thanks for posting. Howard did a phenomenal job to help the US almost beat the Brazilians. The whole US team did a heroic job but Howard was the best on the field that day.

You're welcome. Being a goalkeeper is just so different compared to a regular player. You just can't inmagine or understand it being a player.

With goalkeeping comes so much emotion. It's hard to describe, but when you are one you really know what I'm talking about.

What I like as well is that goalkeepers are (almost) always different types of persons. Really typical. Goalkeepers are crazy. I love it!

I would say the number one goalkeeper at the moment is: Edwin van der Sar.

Iker Casillas, Petr Cech and Gianluigi Buffon are great goalies, but they aren't at their top form right now.

Personally I have a good thing for Pepe Reina, Shay Given and Julio Cesar as well. They are a bit more anonymous, but very save. Gomes (Spurs) was marvelous at his PSV-time too.

And for the Dutch people; Jeroen Verhoeven is great. Pizza!

I think we ahve to applaud the fact that goalkeepers can keep playing till they;'re over 40 yet still make acrobatic saves, prime examples in the PL, Freidal, Van De Saar and James, while Canizaries was awsome at Valencia
