@ericoschmitt Actually everyone else is at a=440, playing in C major. Molly is playing an oboe in a=415, and having to play in C# major. Not only that, but she sounds way better than Gail Hennessy in the DVD recording of this! MAJOR Kudos to her.
Furthermore, Hannah's E's are actually higher than Molly's, considering Molly's playing an E# (so, an F on the oboe, unless there's a short fingering for E# as well?) it's even more impressive that she's corrected the intonation that well! Same goes for the B#s, they're beautifully low.
Just to clarify: so-called "baroque pitch" (A415) wasn't used in 18th-cent Venice, where pitch was similar to today's. We take our pitch from surviving Venetian organs of the period (A447 when this was filmed at the Pietà). For our new Gloria recording we used an Anciuti oboe copy pitched at A440.
@CharlieBladeRemus I think there was a misunderstanding. They're playing at 440 but the hautboyist is using an isntrument pitched a semitone lower at 415, so yes, sadly for her, but still uber-props, she's playing the thing in C#mj. Also, re: the big lute, it's a theorbo. :D
everybody give molly a huge hand because she just played an aria in C# major. that borders on foolhardy. epic win, right there! (why couldn't someone fed-ex her a 440 instrument?) either way, BRAVO!
What a lovely video! She is so young and her voice is so gentle, and she sings so earnestly. This is actually better than the version I have with Suzie LeBlanc singing. It's got a more upbeat tempo to suit the youth of the singer.
Beautiful!

Que estupidez que si A415 o A447 por favor disfrutemos la música! estoy seguros que sus oídos no pueden sentir ninguna diferencia!

@MrDarknesslover To our ears, the sound IS different! And the organ at La Pietà is at A447, similar to other Venetian organs of the period.

Very beautiful singing. Her voice texture is not too mature/dark, but at the same time not too bright. But just right! :)

@americanoboist its not c#, just a=447

@ericoschmitt : Fingerings say otherwise. It may sound 447, but she's definitely playing in C#.

@americanoboist right.. well, maybe everyone else is in C (447) and the oboe is in C# (440)...
