@GuidoWorship This was a drum part constructed specifically for the video series. If you like the sound, you should check out any of our MCX Masters 14x6.5 6-ply maple snare drums at pearldrum com
If the kit is meant to be more resonant, like a thinner shelled jazz kit, why do emperor's come standard? It is a myth that two ply heads get a warmer/deeper sound. Diplomats get the warmest sound, they can be tuned lower(because your only stretching one skin) and give the drum much more clarity at high tunings. Two plys merely dull the sound. Has pearl shares in Remo? Use one ply heads top and bottom learn to tune well in the mid-range with and your drums will be effortless to play(rebound)
@asightsetonyou Really? If I understand the idea behind the Reference Pure well enough, this would seem to be an excellent solo to showcase the series. The Pure's are supposed to resonate beautifully. I thought the sparing, but tasteful use of the toms gave them plenty of time to show just how well they do that.
Drummer is awesome! Drums sound amazing but toms are slightly lacking in "attack" to my ears. I guess there is no EQ on the recording so we can hear the true sound of the kit ?
Get Dennis Chambers and a set of Evans G2 coated on one of these kits and make another video ;-)
hmmm im not really sure... since the idea is thin shells, how does this become better with the tama starclassic thin shell drums? no disrespect intended. just looking for a clear view of which drum is better.
@athansauc Reference Pure is the same multi wood blend of the Original Reference, but thinner, and with lighter hoops .
Maple Birch and Mahogany are used, where Starclassic i believe are Bubinga/Birch
Reference Pure was designed so that not only will each individual drum sound the best that it can in its size(diaxdep) but it will have the most full tone also,(because thinner shell = more vibration = more tone) so you fully hear the different woods at work. they're just less cutting as O.R.
They look pretty cool, wish they had a different drummer playing them though, this dude is to tricky and it's annoying. I want to hear this set played straight forward, give it a better representation of what it actually sounds like.
@asightsetonyou I'm not hating but I can't believe you called this annoying...funk drumming is a very hard style to play, and if you ask me playing "straight" without any syncopation is downright boring! Kris is a freakin' awesome drummer, he has a master's degree in jazz percussion and definitely knows what he is doing!
I don't like snare drum sound, but the rest of the kit sound amazing!

Definitely sound more resonant than the regular References. Though I do agree I would like to hear them played in a more simple groove.

is the R.P. good for metal or hard rock?
alexed18 1 year ago
@alexed18
i wouldnt think so, the point of the pures are to give a softer tone, im more of a tama guy, but i would get just the reference series drums
SomeoneWitSkill 1 year ago
